I'm 4mths post partum and my cycle returned for the 1st time just over 2 weeks ago. I got a positive opk on CD15 but it looks like my period has arrived today CD19. [emoji15]
We are looking at ttc #3 in the coming months but could possibly go HT.
Should I be worried about the short cycle? I've never had one this short.
Thanks [emoji4]

The only time i did had that short cycle was when i took the morning after pill. So maybe a change in hormones.

At 4 months pp, I wouldn't worry too much. Your body is probably still trying to figure things out and recover from birth. It could even be breakthrough bleeding and not a true period. Are you breastfeeding?

That's very normal when you're still pretty close to just having had a baby. I would not worry about this at all. 3 or 4 months after one of my pregnancies, I had a super short cycle like that. It's just your body figuring things out still (and not really "wanting" to get pregnant again so quickly!)

Thanks ladies
I'm not breastfeeding anymore - stopped 2 mths ago
I'm thinking along the same lines as you all that it's my body trying to get back to normal - it didn't happen with DD1 so wasn't sure
Is it possible to ovulate and then get your period that soon after?

Even when not breastfeeding, if you've just had a baby your body will just not be right back to normal again that soon.
It is both possible to ovulate and then have a super short LP while nursing, OR to have an anovulatory cycle. It doesn't matter either way, it still acts as a reset on your hormones and it is probable, but not guaranteed that you will be right back to normal next month.

Ugh... I was hoping this month would be better but once again Cd19 and I've got af again!
Atomic - I've started taking vit e (for planned Ivf) could this be causing the short cycle?
When would you follow up with a doctor - I stopped breast feeding almost 3mths ago
Thank you

How much Vitamin E?
I doubt that it's causing the AF arriving but it can make a little bleeding (like midcycle spotting) into a LOT of bleeding since it can thin your blood considerably.
Even not breastfeeding, being within 6-9 months postpartum can make for some crazy cycles. Your body thinks "I just had a baby, I better not get pregnant" and then it mucks up your cycle as a kind of natural birth control pill to stop you from conceiving before it's "ready". Just keep eating right, getting a lot of sleep, taking a multivitamin or prenatal (but not TOO many nutrients, which can be worse than nothing!) and it will normalize in time. :)

I'm taking 400IU of vitamin e - I've also started fish oil again - could it be the 2 together?
Thanks Atomic - I guess it has just thrown me a bit as this didn't happen after dd1 - my cycles regulated very quickly with her.
Fingers crossed all settles down eventually in time for us to start Ivf.

I prefer you guys take no more than 15 mg . E (this is 22 IU, about 100%) I don't like those high dose Vit. E as they may be harmful - I know some people think it helps with egg quality but it inhibits cell division which is the last thing you want when you're trying to grow a baby!
How much fish oil?? No more than 1000 mg max and I think 500 is better. Some of the clinics recommend a scary high dose of fish oil

Ok I think I will stop the vit e and see what happens.
Would the high dose be ok if I'm taking it just for egg collection as we will be doing a freeze all and FET at a later date if successful?
I'm taking 1000mg fish oil at the moment - will drop down to 500 once this bottle is finished just to be safe.
Thanks again Atomic - much appreciated

The fact is we don't know if it's safe or not. Many people take it but then again many people have their IVF rounds not work for reasons no one knows. Personally I think it's best if you guys stick to no more than 100% DRV of all the nutrients other than Vit. D.
