Hi there ladies,

I'm really new to this and am finding all the info quite overwelming. This month is the month where I'm sorting out how i'm going to go about my diet, timing etc. I have been checking my ph which to my surprise has been quite low at 4.5, I think cause I've been breastfeeding my DS2 (currently weaning) that is why I'm so low. Last night I checked my DH's ph and I freaked out as the ph test strip almost turned black his ph was sooooo high. My stomach turned as I'm thinking this is going to be way harder then I thought especially on DH's side.

My questions are, has there been anyone who has had a partner whose ph was sky high and yours been low and conceived a girl?
Needing some reassurance that it is possible.

And where do I even begin getting his ph down?
Dec is really busy for us so we'll be starting the diet in Jan to start ttc start of march. However what can I do in Dec to make slight changes to start getting it down?

This is my naive/dumb question, does a high ph mean high sperm count?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts,

thanks heaps :-)

Hi CherryRed, My DP's PH has always been sky high over 9 and he has 3 daughters. I have seen on this site that girl swayers use lime juice to adjust ph of sperm, either mixing it at time of insemination or using a douche. I'm sure you will find useful information here, i know how overwhelming this can be but there are loads of ladies here who are happy to answer questions. Good luck with your girl sway.

I found the same thing when I tested DH's pH! I'll see if I can find my post from back then :D

Friends of ours were going to start swaying but accidently fell pregnant, when she tested her husbands PH it was sky high, but hers was low and yep this one is a girl. So dont stress out too much.

First of all thanks to the girl moms who shared their husband's pH was high! Much appreciated. I can say that all day long but your experiences "count" more than anything I can say!!!

Personally, I believe it's the sperm count/health that matters and not pH per se. The optimal pH for sperm is in the 7's...sperm don't like very high pH any better than very low pH. It is TOTALLY possible to have very high pH and low sperm count, and more daughers as a result.

In fact, if your husband has chronically very high pH, you actually need to have him examined by a doctor because that is not normal and there may be health issues like infections and even cancer that can cause that. (no need to mention the pH test, just say he was having some pain in his testicle or something)

If he is taking cal-mag supps, those can cause him to have very high pH as well.

Your husband's pH may change quite quickly jsut on the basis of the last foods that he ate/drank. So if AFTER he is given a clean bill of health, if you want him to start taking cran or baby aspirin, and drinking aspartame, those things will help his pH drop. I prefer baby aspirin for DW but DH can take cran because the nutrients seem to matter less for men.
