View Full Version : Last minute sway! Suggestions Appreciated!

Hello there,

I was really hoping you could help. I used to be a regular on IG a couple of years ago (same username) and got so stressed with the swaying I took down some notes and decided not to look at the forum again.

Well I decided I want to TTC boy this month (pray and sway!) and I have 10 days until O. Tried to go back and look at the forum and it had disappeared!

I found this forum while trawling the internet and am now so overwhelmed and confused Can you please point me the the right direction?

My diet is generally good. I plan on doing BSD, COT, gelatine, L-Arginine, lemon water, robuttisum, fish oil, timing, & BSF.
For DH: L-Arginine, zinc, fish oil, and alfalfa.

Lots of folic acid for both of us too.

Another thing is my DH is a lover of red wine (3-4 glasses a day), how much will that effect our sway?

I haven't been able to check pH yet but will be able to in the next few days and will update.

Hi...I'm also from IG and frustrated with those monkeys. our sways look similar and will be on same day. I have notes from IG too. If you want anything let me know. Why don't you check your pH ?? are you using egg whites and how about ions ??
I' will be using BSF,egg whites and (laptop,gold and phones) for ions.

AF is here so can't check CM and DH is away on business until mid week >.<

Ions: moon phase, electronics as much as possible

To be honest I worry about egg whites and I'm pretty sure DH would be horrified >.> he's worse than I am *lol*

Any tips on how to take the gelatin? :/

You can mix it with juice, it's awful stuff!!

What are you eating exactly?

My usual diet is lots of meat and rice. I'm lactose intolerant so very little dairy (though I discovered a few months ago that I can handle baskin robbins ice cream.. not a good time to make that discovery)

I have a large plate of salad for lunch. I am upping it to one at lunch and one at dinner.

I have pancakes with honey for breakfast. I'm contemplating changing that to eggs and/or potatoes.

I'm also planning to eat amsterdam carrots all through the day and at least a glass of pineapple juice.

How much gelatine do I need to take? O.O

1 tbsp 3 x a day, although many of us dropped it LOL

I would add more eggs and nuts to your diet :) Oh and oats and dried fruit like figs/dates.

I'm realllly going to try because i only have 10 or so days >.< I'm actually wondering if I should BD O-1 instead of O just incase :s

Do you do opks and have a cycle you can track pretty well? I'd try to get as close to ovulation as possible. Many of us on this site don't believe in timing, so many of us do o-2 and o bd to give the sperm the best count.

Yes my cycle is pretty regular and I'll be using OPKs. I get watery CM for more than half my cycle so it's really hard to pinpoint O and I'm worried that I'll miss it and do a O+12 >.<

Dibbles can you do eggs and potatoes with breakfast? Or eggs and bacon with your pancakes? Is there meat on your salad? It sounds like you need to do a bit more protein. Are you having any snacks? I think your supps sound good :)

Yes I'm going to try and get protein at breakfast.

Need to work on snacks. Was thinking crisps, fruits, raisins and dates.

Do you think it will make a difference if I gain a few pounds just before O?

No, gaining a few pounds is kinda the objective. I would just try to dtd about 12-18 hours after your 1st +opk, that should get you in ample time. Many of us do 2-3 opks a day when we get close so we can narrow down the time frame for ovulation better.

I wasn't aware that we both had to take folic acid ?
Are other blue swayers DH's taking it?

Hi Dibbles, Welcome, feel free to look at my sway, its on my blog.

LBAM - My DP takes Menevit which has folic acid in it, and a lot of other good stuff too, i would highly recommend it.

I have a hard enough time getting him to take L-arg and zinc.
Not sure if he would take anything else.
Maybe I could sneak it in his food hahaha jokes

Hahaha yeah he would be like "these eggs taste funny?" LOL i'm not even sure why the guys would need folic acid, but i have heard zinc is the best thing for them

About the OPKs: Isn't it 12-36 hours after the first OPK? How will taking multiple OPKs help? I'm planning to do 2 a day so I don't miss the surge, should I be doing more? I bought internet cheapies in BULK! lol

I'm giving him folic acid because he has a couple of not-too-healthy habits that I'm not even going to try to get him to break. I think I read somehwere folic acid helps repair damaged sperm.. anyway can't do any harm :D

love being a mommy: I haven't told him he's taking supps yet :p lol but since it's only for a week I'm hoping he will humor me.

Yes, even DH has to take folic acid . my DH is taking 400mcg.

Is there FA in a mens multi Vit ?
I don't think I could get DH to take anything else, I annoy him enough already trying to get him to take the L-arg and zinc

Hi Dibbles!!

I realize I am a little late to the party here and I am really sorry...the forum went nuts with people coming over from IG and I am still getting caught up. I do think IG may be back up so that is good news anyway.

1) WE have not been having very good luck with L-arg. It seems like it may be raising testosterone, at the expense of estrogen, and making people's CM dry up. If it's working for you, that's great, but if you find that you're getting too dry, you might want to give it to your husband instead.

Having similar issues with flaxseed too BTW (even tho you weren't using that)

2)We are seeming to have success with people taking both EPO and fish oil together, altho some people have reported dryness from EPO as well, it's been nowhere near as bad as the l-arg and flaxseed were.

3)how much zinc?? I believe the advice on IG is dangerous levels of zinc intake. I much prefer women to take 8-15 mg and men to take no more than 25 at most.

4)Re egg whites, I am not a fan of them either. 5)Alcohol of may sway a little bit pink and we have a kind of fun thread about that going on now: http://genderdreaming.com/forum/showthread.php?6285-Heavy-drinker-being-drunk-during-conception-sways-pink but I can promise you my husband can lay it down himself, and conceived 2 boys drinking quite a bit.

6)Remember, if you check your pH at any time other than ovulation, it is not going to tell you what you need to know. It's always best to get the pH of EWCM at ovulation, so if you check it before then and it's more acidic than you were hoping for, don't panic, it will go up.

Add the eggs to the pancakes with honey and that is fine. Protein + carbs = boys.

No worries on the ice cream, I got 4 boys eating vast amounts of dairy every day (and one was a pink sway!)

If your cycle is pretty regular, I would def. try to squeeze in two attempts. I would BD at the pos OPK and then again the next day. Don't worry about frequent release swaying pink, the pink swayers have to do FR every day (and often twice a day) for 7-10 days for that to sway pink.

Folic acid may increase sperm count. Most men's vitamins have enough, no need for men to take additional FA if they are already getting some in a multi.

My concern is that folic acid has been linked to prostate cancer in men so I would prefer people gave their DH only a minimal amount rather than a very large dose.

Some people want to time their BD to be as close to O as possible (I don't think that's necessary BTW) so they take multiple OPK to observe if they get any fade in/fade out patterns that might help them pinpoint O more accurately.
