What if you abstain for a month, then DTD the day you got +OPK and then DTD again a day before O? Would it sway pink or blue? From what I understand it would sway pink because of abstinence but then again since there is fresh sperm because you DTD again before O it would sway blue? So confusing :(

PS: I'm still learning to navigate the website. Sorry if I messed up somewhere.

Hi and welcome! Glad you found us!!

Please don't abstain for a month. It will not work either from a practical angle (even if your husband sticks to it, which most won't, he will end up having a wet dream in the middle of it all anyway) or from a swaying angle (because abstain has really gotten extremely disappointing results, being significantly lower than the overall results of the site, and also really cutting odds of conception - and a month long abstain would be even worse for conception!!)

And after all that, it would possibly still sway blue because it is more than one attempt. For reasons we don't understand, 2 attempts was more blue-friendly than 1 attempt. Timing doesn't work, abstain doesn't work, but one attempt DOES work and so it's best to try to boost odds of conception with one attempt by dropping things that don't work (like abstain).

Also just to clarify, for many people, DTD the day of positive OPK IS going to be 1 day before O anyway.

Thanks for the reply. We plan on swaying blue for our next kid (if we plan on having one haha :)) and I found this forum. I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant with a girl and we didn't do any swaying. We were on our normal diets and the DTD pattern was abstain for a month, DTD on +opk (checked only once a day), NO DTD day after +opk and then DTD again the next day. We use very little preseed. This has been out pattern pretty much since TTC (which is about 3 months). We are not very active  I am 33 and DH is 37. We are vegetarians. My BMI is around 18.5 and DH around 20. I have had a BMI <18 pretty much all my life and and just before TTC I was able to get the BMI close to 19. I am a poor eater and hardly work out. My diet while TTC has been.
Morning:
Tea and cereal with milk and banana
Lunch:
White rice with some lentils and vegetables
Evening:
Snack. Almonds, walnuts and some cookies
Dinner:
Wheat tortillas with vegetables, occasionally egg and yogurt.

I always took my prenatals and omega 3.
DH had pretty much the same diet without prenatals and omega 3 and he works out all days except weekend. (weights)

We'll probably TTC after 3 years when I will be 36 and DH 40. OMG. I just want to get a picture of how my diet and DTD pattern has to change for this and want to gauge if it is even possible by us. I know its too early to ask but I have seen some good suggestions around here and getting some information wont harm I guess :)

That's all good news, that means we know what we can fix.

I would like to see you eating more protein foods like more dairy and eggs. I'd add in a snack between breakfast and lunch, possibly even a bedtime snack. I would also have you add in probiotics, Vitamin D up to 1000 IU if you aren't getting that already, and fruit/vegetable juices like orange, grapefrult, V8.

Be sure you are not getting a lot of vegetable-based fats. Some is ok, but you are aiming at getting more of your fat from either animal based (like butter) or saturated veg. fat like coconut oil. Limit things like vegetable oils, margarine, shortening.
