12+4 is still earlyish, but I'd say that's boy!

I‘m interested in this too since my 12 Week Scan looked very much like your second picture babybluedreamer and Atomic was not sure if the Stacking you See is really the nub or some Other Part. Since the picture goes Black at the Point it‘s hard to Tell. The First picture Looks Boyish, I agree.

The circled area looks like a boyish nub since it is short and stacked.

I'm not very good at figuring out nubs but I too think it looks boyish!

THANKS everyone! i really hope so... i have had some mixed messages and paid for a company to tel me boy or girl - they said girl :/
dont want to get my hopes up! the other two scans i cant see any boy nub?! but the one you circled it does look stacked - is it definitely not "forked"? i am trying to work out what "three lines" looks like but i cant seem to undertand it either way!

thanks againx

just to clarify - that was based on nub theory the company telling me that, it wasnt a blood test or anything :)

Don't look for 3 lines, look for either forking or stacking. Girl nubs are usually long and forked while boys are short and stacked. This thread should help you visualize what I mean:

I only very rarely guess on ultrasounds this early but I feel pretty confident that this is a boy baby. Huge congrats!!

I actually think the first pic could be potentially girl but the second shot is boyish, and then looking at the first shot again in light of the second shot I can see what appears to be a nub on the rise. :)

Thanks so much. Does it make a difference that the shots were taken during the same scan ie same day/time? Im confused as to why one shows a boy nub and other a girly one...

Thanks so much. Does it make a difference that the shots were taken during the same scan ie same day/time? Im confused as to why one shows a boy nub and other a girly one...

It is because at that stage of gestation (and particularly earlier, so thru the 11th week) all babies look like girls. The Y chromosome is dormant in early pregnancy so all babies appear to be girls. Then in the 10th week the Y chromosome wakes up and starts making testosterone and then what looks like girly parts, turn into boy-ly parts, LOL. If you have your scan too early (and like I say, 12+4 is earlier than I prefer to guess) a baby that looks like a girl can be a boy still because the nub simply hasn't finished development and risen to appear obviously boy.

So in that top pic, the end is cut off, and that coupled with the fact that it's still early, is obscuring the fact that the baby is likely a boy (IMO, keep in mind I am not an expert tho). But then in the second pic, they capture the tip of the goods and I see stacking in that that appears quite boyish, and then when I went back and looked at the first picture again I could see an angle on the nub that true girl nubs do not have and thus I suspect it's in the process of rising.

I would not of course paint the nursery yet, but it looks boyish to me. I'm just trying to explain why someone else could quickly look at that top shot, without spending much time/effort on it, and say girl when we are thinking it's a boy. :)

I said that about phalaenopsis' scan because as I recall it was less clear than yours. I'll try to look it up to compare.

Your picture in this thread http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ultrasound-gender-prediction/64450-do-you-see-nub-please-help.html#post980319 does NOT look anything like that. Your nub is downward and appears forked, not stacked.

I know it's hard to tell unless you have looked at a kajillion nub shots but to me those nubs are as different as night and day. Again, like i said in your thread, it was quite early still and could still rise, but that nub looks nothing like the nub in these shots!

No, I meant a different picture. The one that I Showed you in the Personal Coaching Forum, Atomic. I‘ll attach it again in this Post. Sorry, I did not mean to Hijack your Post! But since there has been this confusion (sorry again!) I‘ll Post my picture which I think Looks Similar. Really Scared that you Guys will say Boy. Swayed hard for a Girl and will find out in 3 39612

Even that post does not look to me the same. The baby is completely curled up in that pic instead of laying flat as in the original poster's ultrasound and I am not sure that the full nub is captured.

There will be time enough to feel sad when you have a reason to. For now, I would have you stick with 50-50 and not get upset over bad news that very well may not even be coming.

Thank you Phalaenopsis.
I agree with Atomic - there is a slight difference, and my other scan is identical to your flat long one... so it is so hard to know. But in the mean time no harm in staying positive and believing in the process! When do you find out the sex? x

I'll find out in 3 weeks, when we have the detailed fetal scan at 19 weeks.
How about you?

thank you all!!

I will indeed post my boy sway. i followed as much of Atomic's advice as possible, and as we had a short time frame it was an "intense" weight gain and diet change... worth every bit of effort :)
