View Full Version : Anyone Have a Clear Nub Shot and It was WRONG?

I'm just wondering; if you got a clear nub shot at 12 or 13 weeks, the angle was clear, baby was laying on his/her back with spine straight, did it look clearly like one gender and end up being the other?

I have never had a nub shot in my other two pregnancies, so I have nothing to compare it to. I didn't even know of the nub theory until now. The tech was pretty certain, it was done on a high-powered machine at a hospital just for women and babies, but I just have a hard time believing it. Are boys easier to be sure of at this stage or does it not matter? My husband keeps saying, "It is what it is. It will be a boy/girl three days from now and for the rest of its life." I know he's right; I just want to know FOR SURE! Any thoughts/experiences?

Thanks!

I'm interested in hearing responses on this (I have my 13 week scan on Thursday!). I feel like almost every nub shot gets girl guesses, aside from the really obvious boy ones which don't seem to come along so often. I don't know if that's because there are more ladies wanting/having girls or whether lots of nubs look girlie regardless!

I went with my friend when she had a scan at 15 weeks, the youngish US tech was not 100% sure what the sex was so she got one of the older techs in to have a look. The young one said "from this angle i thought one thing but from the other angle i see a sticky outy thing" The older tech said "yes that is just swollen clitorus". I think to be sure at the early stages you really need to see the potty shot or be a very experienced US tech. The baby is now confirmed girl.

I have a few friends who had really clear nub shots at 12 weeks that ended up being wrong.

At 12 weeks it's only 75% accurate and 95% at 13weeks

Sure. I posted on another thread, but these are my 12 W 5 D nub shots, and I have to wait until 12/30 for my level 2 ultrasound.

Just wanted to give a quick update...no- not about gender confirmation! Got the results of the 1st trimester screen and EVERYTHING is NORMAL- Praise God! I am 40, and while I wasn't worried, this is WONDERFUL confirmation that whatever IT is, IT is healthy!
