I had my official preconception appointment and was given the ok by my new Dr and my wife to try to get pregnant! But my Dr said I would take these shots once a week when I am 16 or so weeks and it kinda freaked me out. Are they terrible? Super painful? Side effects?

I have the Makena shots I started at 19 weeks, since I found out little later than 16 weeks about my cervix. It is a miracle drug and if you need it to prevent pre term labor happening take it! I was suppose to take it till 36 weeks but I stopped at 34 weeks and went in labor at 36 weeks so again if I have another baby I will need Makena starting at 16 weeks. It’s a weekly shot sometimes it hurts for a second other times it doesn’t. It’s worth it

I took the PIO shot up until 12 weeks daily as per IVF protocol. It wasn't fun. It's intermuscular so it can hurt. some days were worse than others.
I am currently at risk for PPROM at almost 22 weeks and demanded it from my Dr but he refused. As much as they hurt... if they can give you the reassurance of not going into labour early... it's worth it!
Good luck!! [emoji4]
