Wasn't sure where to post this. DH had a bunch of blood tests done and found out he can't metabolize folic acid (we're not TTC, tests were for something else). I don't know how much that matters for men in regards to sperm health? Just curious.

There is a link, but it's all very new and tentative in terms of how much it matters (some evidence indicates it matters only when you both carry the mutation, other evidence says him having it is enough to cause trouble, and they aren't sure if it's sperm health or for the health of the fetus just yet.) I would def. have him switch over to folate just for his overall health and well being (and if you guys do end up going HT, absolutely!)

Hi there! My dh is homozygous recessive for MTHFR, I had him start taking methylated folate in part for swaying and in part for his general health (LOL). It took almost 3 years for my BFP but it came the first month we tried abstaining (as opposed to frequent release) so I think that’s what took so long.

Thank you Atomic! His doctor put him on prescription folate. I'm definitely going to make sure he continues taking it if we go HT!
Pretty, that's interesting. I've had three early losses so I don't know if that had anything to do with DH or if it was just bad luck or something on my part. We've had no trouble conceiving though. Congrats on your BFP!!
