Help! Could the ultrasound tech be wrong? 14w6d

Hi!

This ultrasound was done at an ER visit at 14 weeks, 6 days. The tech admitted that she never gets to do baby ultrasounds, but she thinks this is a boy.

It does look like a penis, but then when I look closely, I also see a bright spot at the base that looks like three lines/a "hamburger" - can anyone else see what I mean? Hoping the pic is clear enough. I know girl parts can be swollen at this stage, so I'm wondering if this is a boy for sure or if there's a chance it could be a girl.

Any guesses? My 20-week ultrasound is a few weeks away, and the wait is killing me!

Before 15 or 16 weeks is not as accurate for gender, especially using the "potty shot" image (view between the legs) and also especially if the sonographer doesn't normally scan OB. The earlier the gestational age the harder it is to determine gender.
While in that pic I think it looks a little more boyish then girl, I don't think it's a great image to show gender. If it was me I would definitely wait for the anatomy scan.

Thank you! That's what I was thinking, too, but when I asked in another forum, EVERYONE said boy. I'll wait and see what they say at my anatomy scan. Appreciate the response!!

That looks boyish to me but I wouldn't put any money on it. Especially if the tech never does ultrasounds!

Tentative boy lean, but that is really still too early for a reliable potty shot and so I'd not paint the nursery just yet. :)

My gender scans at 15 weeks for all 4 boys were exactly like this id bet definitely wee boy ☺
