I just finished my first round of Clomid, had my one attempt, but AF came yesterday. Not shocked, as this was our first attempt month. I'm asking my doctor about switching to Femara this cycle though, reason being, I had really awful bloating and lots of cramps on Clomid. I know it comes with side effects, and will take it again if prescribed, but wanted to ask:

Atomic, I think you've said somewhere that both are an effective sway tactic, but perhaps Femara has less side effects? Or that you prefer it slightly over Clomid? Wondering too if it's okay to hop from one to the other. Any insight is appreciated - and if anyone has a better experience on one over the other, would love to hear about it. Thx!

And now that I've posted this, I'm seeing a hundred other similar posts that can probably answer my question.

I prefer Femara over Clomid. It can still cause the side effects but it makes it easier to conceive with because it doesn't dry up CM and has less negative effect on lining (and is equally good or even a little better for pink, we believe) so you would hopefully end up conceiving sooner than on Clomid.

Yes it's fine to go from one to the other.

I don't mind answering questions, no worries.

I’m carrying a femara baby girl now! The first month I had hot flashes but that was about it regarding side effects. DH may accuse me of being moody, but I didn’t notice LOL. good luck!

Thank you! My moods probably wouldn't get much worse than with Clomid. But maybe it was the bloating that was making me grumpy, haha. Congrats on your little girl!

Thanks! I've had issues with my lining (but that was many moons ago), so that was a concern in the back of my head. I'm going to try to switch over if they'll let me. Thank you for the input!

I thought Femara was for woman over 35?

Oh, is it? Well if so, that'll be okay, because I'm 36. :D

No, it's BETTER for women over 35 who may not do as well on Clomid. But ANYONE can take Femara. it's just that women over 35 will do better on Femara than on Clomid.
