Skull Shape Theory for Early Gender Determination

In adults skulls there is a noticable difference in skull shape, which can determine gender in 92% of skulls found from skeleton remains. Using these differences it is sometimes possible to have a guess at what babies gender may be, combinig this with a good nub shot can often lead to good results:agree:

I've found that in about 80% of the u/s pictures I've seen posted over the years the skull could go either way, usually because baby was just looking slightly one way or anohter so throwing the pic out, but every now and then you get a perfect angled picture which heavily leans one way or the other. For me, if I see a skull with a deep slope from the eyebrows to the fore head, in a straight line, then this is what I call a lovely 'caveman brow' and is a strong indicator of a boy! The pic below, pic 1, shows the adult skull, a noticable difference in ski slope brow on the male!

So when looking for a boy, I look for the caveman brow if its super obvious or sometimes even if the forehead just looks very flat from eyebrow to forehead.

When I look for a girls skull I look to see how rounded in general it is, so a nice obvious semi circle from eyebrows to forehead, or even slightly more pointed at the fore head.

I've attached a pic, of Coulditbemyturns 12 week, confirmed!, nt scan (thank you Couldit xx) Now this to me is a lovely example of what I would look for in a girls skull, a nice semi circle from eyebrow to forehead:)

I've also attached a pic, of my confirmed boy pic, not the clearest of caveman brows, more flat, but you can see that the main height is nearer eyebrow than forehead, causing a flat slope back to the top of the head:) Plus Rainbowflowers (thankyou Rainbow) Ds's nt pic which shows a more flatter forehead but which again would have made me think boy from the lack of any girly curve:)

I'll add more good examples when they turn up ok:)

But!! Other ladies guess in different ways and have had great success, some I believe take into account the shape at the back of babies head even! Would the main curve on the back of babys skull be higher on a girl maybe??? Sometimes if ladies post a full face skull shot with eye sockets showing then I'll also try and see how wide babies chin is, as boys may be showing a wide chin and girls a little pointy chin:)

At the end of the day, skull guessing is just for fun really, as if it was as accurate on fetuses as it can be on adults then the medical profession would have been using it long ago:) Have fun!!!

I know there are some good skull guessers on the site, so if anyone else wants to post what they look for then please go ahead!! these are just descriptions of what I look for :)

EDIT: Just a quick add on, I imagine a marker point at he eye brow and another at the start of the hairline and look for the shape between these two points itms, I'll add some colour points to the pics when I have a little more time:)

Thanks for your guesses, one minute I see a girl shape the next I see a slight flat line on the forehead and think boy, and the nub ....... well one minute I think its angled down in relation to spine and then I see a rise, and it was done at 11 weeks so could rise, so really Im none the wiser although I have 2 boys already so am sure it will be another prince :-)

Firstly 11 weeks is early for any guessing!! So we are definitely just guessing atm. But I reckon that baby is looking more like a boy atm. The top pic looks to have a nice boyish head and if thats the nub showing in the top pics then it looks very boy. But I remember clearly a lady on IG 'Kel2009' I think?? who had the same very boyish nub at 11 weeks and had a surprise delivery room little lady lol!!

Your bottom pic, again the head looks boyish but the nub looks more girly to me. Its a shame that the machine wasn't able to give us a bit more detail!!

Will you be getting any more closer to the 13 week mark???

Thanks ELP - not sure, possibly go for a private one between 12 and 13 weeks, closer to 13 weeks, DS2's nub was pointing straight up at 13 weeks lol. I thought this one on the pic where bubs facing to the left, was pointing more down in relation to the spine, but not good at guessing and sure it would rise higher in the next week or so. What makes you think the skull is boyish? My guesses are way out lol.

What makes you think the skull is boyish?It probably shows best in your pic 1. From the eyebrow to the top of the fore head/start of the hairline area, to me, looks flat and slightly sloping back. If you look at the pics in post 1 the boy shot has the same gentle flat slope back, where as the girl shot has a curved hill between these areas itms!

A scan at 13 weeks will definitely give you some perfect shots to look from, plus the private machine would probably be of a better grade with the pictures being less grainy:agree: Also if you get a scan at 13 weeks then you can still officially stay team yellow if thats your hope as it still not 100% official;)

anyone want to make some guesses on mine. This was yesterday at 16 wks and 2 days US tech tried to see but said the baby was breech and it was hard to see I had a TV US also for cervix ck and she tried that away but the foot was in the way other wise I would know. So have to go by skull right now heart rate was 143 but baby was not very active at all.
