View Full Version : How can I make my body O earlier?

In high school and my early 20's I was always glad that I had super long cycles, sometimes as much as 60 days. When I started TTC, they are just making me really frustrated! I typically don't O until at least CD 21, which gives me fewer attempts each year. How can I get my body to O earlier?
I have been on vitex now for 2 months but have not noticed a change (didn't get longer either)
I have been taking 25 mg B6 to lengthen my LP from 9-12 days for about 6 months now.
What else can I try?
UPDATE: :omg:
My DH has no idea why I am so excited about this but I know you ladies will understand. I am so frustrated about my long cycles because I have to wait forever to O and it gives me fewer chances in a year and it's soooo much longer to be on the diet.
So I started Vitex over the summer and took it for 9 weeks straight (my cycles are very long so 6 weeks was one cycle straight through and then it was 3 weeks from AF-O of the second cycle. So I have been on vitex from Af-O for about 5 months now. It really didn't effect my cycles at all. Then last cycle I started doing SP as well, just AF-O, one in the am and one before bed (320 the standard dose but each pill is 160)
Last cycle I still didn't O until CD 22 (which is better than 28 like it can be!) But this cycle I think it has helped! I always start doing OPK's around CD 10-12, even though I don't O until at least CD 19, but because I am such a POAS addict and I like to see the fade in pattern, LOL. yesterday was CD 10 and I did an OPK and it was ALMOST POSITIVE! I tried not to get my hopes up today but I did another one today (CD 11) at noon and it is another almost positive, a little darker than yesterday! I will continue to test, and I am really hoping that I will O in the next few days!!!!
THANK YOU ZANA and ATOMIC FOR RECOMMENDING SP AND VITEX TOGETHER!!!

I'd stick with the vitex for another cycle - it can take 3 cycles to work properly
are you taking anything else to balance hormones such as peppermint tea or raspberry leaf tea?

I ovulated later in my cycle when I was taking Vitex alone but when taking both Vitex and Saw Palmetto I ovulated earlier than I had previously.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing Zana!
Caramella, have you spoken with a doctor? I would try and get some Clomid to regulate cycles while TTC. Also, going onto BC pills (and then stopping them when you are ready to TTC) may help. Both these things also sway pink.

AS--I will talk to my doc about clomid, I can't be on the pill as all hormonal BC gives me massive migraines.
Zana--I just got some SP to start taking next cycle so I will see if that works.
I am drinking some peppermint tea, about 2 cups a day. I am trying to drink more but it's hard with working and LO and the holiday rush upon us.

I hope the Saw P helps - and if not at least it's a reason to stop the peppermint tea!

zana--ya I am not a big fan of the peppermint tea and it was hard to get in a full 3 cups of strong tea every day. SP will be easier to stick to.

I want to O couple of days earlier this cycle bcos my DH will be away when I'm due to O regularly
I'm not on Vitex nor Clomid and I won't do BC pills ( bcos I'm blue swayer ) . I will do sleeping in pitch black room of course, but I wanted to do something in addition and here is what I've found: How to Treat Infertility Through Acupressure | eHow.com (http://www.ehow.com/how_2108324_treat-infertility-through-acupressure.html), accu pressure points for inducing ovulation - Trying to conceive - MedHelp (http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Trying-to-conceive/accu-pressure-points-for-inducing-ovulation/show/1249823) and Acupressure : Acupressure & Ovulation - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEuM4PzMx_4)
What do you guys think? Any experiences?
( Maybe I should have posted this in Infertility Support board?)

I have heard about the dark room--lunaception I think? What about soy? I have heard that is supposed to move up O maybe?

Yep, it's lunaception http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/1421-lunaception.html I'll do it of course, although it will be hard to talk DH to sleep with lights on :worry: if not impossible :(
Soy_isoflavones can move up O, but I don't want to do that, 1st reason is stupid: they are BEYOND expensive here and other reason is I don't want to risk to pop out immature eggies or something and increase my chances for m/c or whatever.

I don't think the lights have to be on per se, just maybe like a closet light on with the door 1/4 of the way open. It's supposed to mimic the full moon and even on a full moon it's not bright outside, KWIM?
Being expensive isn't a stupid reason! Like clomid, if soy is taken certain days it can pop out immature eggies, but if you take it at the right time (CD 5-10 I believe) then the egg should be mature enough. I think atomic wrote a post about it...
I am staying away from soy as I don't think it's very girl friendly and I am TTC pink

Carmella, I think soy IS girl friendly. Lowers testosterone. You might have to take it for awhile before it lowers T tho.

My doc offered clomid, and I know a lot of TTC pink ladies would KILL for it, but I just don't know if I want to go down that route. my body does O every month, just really late. I want clomid b/c I want to O earlier and have more chances in a shorter period of time to get pg. but I am afraid to death of tiwns and I think if I was on clomid it would be way too much pressure to get pg, since doc will only do 3 cycles for safety's sake, and I want to sway as much as I can..... so I don't know what to do...

even if you do take the clomid you still only have an 8% chance of conceiving twins

Clomid is proven to actually sway pink while some sway tactics like pH are not even really that proven and may just be OWT. Personally, I would go with the Clomid option if I could. Whatever you decide, good luck!!

Atomic--I think I am going to wait until jan to try clomid. Dec will be our first attempt. I had a major cheat on the diet around thanksgiving but have been very strict since. Dec will be our first try with lots of antihistamines, jellies, and just one attempt at +OPK, so I doubt we will get pg. If we don't i will try in January with the clomid and pray I don't get twins!

Now my doc has offered clomid, but I can't take vitex and clomid together, so I don't know what to do if I don't get pg this month. Next month should I try clomid or stick with my SP and vitex?

Yay, I really hope this has done the trick! The month I took Vitex and Saw P without a break was the month before I conceived and I too ovulated early that month (CD12). I also had a lot of EWCM during my luteal phase the month before conception and I somehow feel that this helped me to get pregnant - at the time I asked AS and she suggested that I might be building a good lining and it was obviously good enough :D

That is really good news! Thanks for updating, it's amazing to know that seems to be soemthing that will help people.
What I would do is just take the SP and vitex the month before, then switch the the Clomid for your attempt. SP and Vitex take a while to get going but your hormones take a while to go back up again. It's like the best of both worlds - you get the benefits of the SP and V and then the Clomid for your attempt.

grrr..... so much has happened since that last post! I got a AAAAALMOST positive on monday, CD 10, stronger on Tuesday CD 11. Well then all hell broke loose. The Christmas tree fell over, all the ornaments broke and water spilled all over the presents that were under the tree. I know that's not a big deal but once I finished re-wrapping the presents, sweeping up the glass and drying out the soggy carpet (and a big fight with DH about whether or not to put the tree back up as well as ruining our vacuum trying to get up all the pine needles) we get a phone call that DH father has prostate cancer, they are doing surgery this monday, and all our christmas travel plans need to be changed since he will be in the hospital. On top of that we got a letter in the mail and our landlord is kicking us out.
Needless to say, my stress level went through the roof. I have been watching a FADE OUT pattern on my OPK'S! No rise in BBT so I think the stress delayed O, I had this happen before when I was doing a wedding cake and it delayed O about a week, so that will be CD 18/19 and I usually O around CD 19-22 anyway so ugh. I *think* the SP and vitex would have worked if it wasn't for all that darned stress!

How do delayed cycles sway?
atomic sagebrush
December 19th, 2011, 09:05 AM
If your cycle is delayed, usually it's because your body either doesn't produce enough estrogen to begin with or because stress causes it to stop producing estrogen for a little while. No estrogen, no LH surge; no LH surge, no ovulation. So when O is delayed it can indicate less estrogen.
Crazily tho, short cycles also seem to sway pink (or at least indicate that something is going on in the body that is making you more pink friendly) Regular, clockwork cycles seem to indicate more boys conceived and weird cycles seem to indicate more girls conceived.
For everyone who is now panicking, remember, this is a tendency and not a rule - people conceive girls with regular cycles and boys with oddball ones. It's just that if you see a change where your cycle has always been one way and you begin swaying and it suddenly changes, that can indicate your hormones are doing somethingdifferent than what they've always done.

I have always had very long cycles. I wonder if my estrogen is low. Well it is just a trend, since my DS was conceived when I O'ed on CD 26! I wonder then in the SP and Vitex combo will get me to O earlier or not.... interested to try soy next month instead of clomid. I just have a bad feeling about that clomid that I will get twins! I really don't want that....
But in happier news: FIL had surgery this morning and they took out his entire prostate. A bone scan came back clear and there is no evidence of cancer in the surrounding tissues and lymph nodes, which is very good news! He still has to do radiation and have some more tests in the upcoming months but it is a very good prognosis.

Also, I cleaned up the tree and packed up all the ornaments. DH says I ruined Christmas but we're going to be with IL's for christmas anyway. We are moving from los angeles to denver in january so we don't need to worry about our landlord kicking us out either!

Re estrogen - it ~may~ mean you have less estrogen or it could also be that your body needs more estrogen to trigger the surge. It's hard to know. To my mind, estrogen = boys is a lot less proven than testosterone = boys.

update! FIL surgery went well, they took out his entire prostate and there are no signs of cancer in the lymph nodes, tissue or bones! He will have to be tested again in 3 months just to be sure, but they think they got it all!
