View Full Version : What should I do now?

So, it seems my days are numbered.
After specialist appointment last week, it seems I am looking at diminished ovarian reserve, thyroid issues and vit D deficiency, on top of my age ( 41 and 1/2) and only one tube . So while it’s still possible to get pregnant, it’s going to be difficult.
To top it all off, ive just come off a 41 day cycle, to ovulate on day 8.
I’ve contemplated giving up on my sway, but I think ill give it all I have until the end of the year.
I have x2 more months of Femara available, which it seems did nothing this cycle [emoji17]
So with all this, and if this cycle is unsuccessful, should I look at SMEP?
I’m keeping within the limits of LE, maybe a little on the high side of fats (60-70gms ) but I’m trying to be a little bit more relaxed about that , adding in some more eggs, delaying breakfast until 12-1pm, no snacking and I’m still adding in a coffee (which I have never ever drank LOL) and limiting red meats to 2-3times a week. So for me big changes which I’ve been doing since April so 5 months now.
I know a pregnancy isn’t impossible, but I’ve come to accept that it’s not looking good. But I have to give it all I’ve got , until I have no choice.

I've read this post a few times, the part about being older and AMH jumped out at me. Have no real advice, just offering reassurance. Obviously I am cautious about BFP. Could be a chemical. I don't feel convinced yet. I am a full year older than you. I had AMH done in February and I cried it was so low. It must be even lower now 6 months later. My FSH was good - it was actually better than 5 years ago so I do believe you can improve your numbers. Obviously, can't do much about one tube. I am sending you all (literally every ounce) of hope I have for you. I so want you to beat the odds. :)

Hopeful my amh results were woeful hence being prescribed clomid but I fell pregnant twice with clomid and twice without so it a low reserve definately doesn't mean you'll struggle imo. It took me 8 cycles to get my first bfp. After that I pretty much concieved cycle 3/4 when resuming ttc.

Hang in there, I have so much hope for you [emoji173]

Ohhh I have everything crossed for you x

How low was your AMH ? Mine was .2 [emoji30][emoji24]
He didn’t tell me my FSH , just that bordering on hypothyroidism and vit D deficient .
So while he said it was bad, he said it’s not impossible.
I’m sending you lots of sticky dust [emoji8][emoji8]

Sorry, I think I was confused when I said FSH :) But it does go to show these values do fluctuate.

Was your AMH in ng/mL? I converted mine over from pmol/L (3) and it's equivalent was 0.4 ng/mL.

I am not a medical professional but can the hypothyroidism and VitD be treated at all?

Oh hang on I just went and checked , and yeah he said 2, but didn’t clarify anything else , he said expected range for age group is 8, so would that be converted to
.3 then? No it’s ok, I just checked it converts to 0.28 [emoji24]
And yes it both can be treated, He said to take vit D supplements, but mentioned sitting in the sun as well for 10min when it gets warmer. [emoji16]

I am glad they can be treated. I don't know if he mentioned D2 vs D3 but it's maybe something to ping atomic about if you haven't already.

Yeah, I was told my number was low for my age group. I am honestly not really sure what to make of AMH. The thing is, all I can find is it predicts years to menopause but not necessarily live births in non-IVF babies. When I got my results, I looked a little online and then decided not to worry about it; my motto became "I only need one good egg". :) And I don't even know if this one will stick all I can do is hope and try not to worry too much (my sleep was disrupted by waves of nausea already and I am literally 4 weeks today so I don't really know what to think).

Did the dr suggest checking your follicle count? I mean with a TV ultrasound? I will say, I chose not to get this done. Again, I decided having an answer that might be negative might stress me out too much and it wasn't really going to change the fact that a) I wasn't going to seek out IVF because I couldn't justify it for me personally and b) we were still going to try naturally regardless of the answer.

I wish I was further along so I could give you better reassurance but I do believe as long as you're making eggs, you're not out.

No HS didn’t mention D2 v D3.
He did scan me, after taking Femara for 5 days he checked for follicles, which were too small for a trigger shot. And I won’t be doing that anymore.

Yeah I’m not sure either about AMH , I think it gives a guide, but they can never tell you for sure how much time you have left. That is my motto too! I just need one! I have had 3boys before granted it was 5 years ago, but I’m so sure there’s 1 good one waiting. ❤️

Yes absolutely let's go to SMEP.

I would be sure you're not doing shallow release, add in female O, Preseed if you need it for a lube (no other lubes, even saliva, can kill sperm). Stay laying flat for 30 minutes or even overnight. That is how I got my daughter at 41 1/2 (in literally the last month I was going to try) was by laying down all night - which I rarely ever do, just was super tired that night!

go ahead and add in the Vit D as directed by your doctor.

You can still have those follicles develop on Femara, just may O later!! Please do keep having e4d attempts or SMEP whichever you choose to do this month.

D2 is rarely being sold any more, D3 is better

And yes, that's the key - as long as you're still making eggs, you're still in with a chance of pregnancy (and many times a much better chance than the experts will tell you!)

Oh and as for the hypothyroid, that's one of the very best things to do to up your chances of conceiving, is treating thyroid problems!

Many thanks atomic , I was continuing e4d this cycle , even though FF has said I’ve already ovulated on day 8, But just in case it was wrong , as I couldn’t afford OPks this month. But it looks like I did.
I will get onto getting the preseed as soon as I can.
And getting onto treating hypothyroid Issue.

Well, FF isn't always right - although I can see why it thinks you've ovulated, it does look like it from the temps, but if you've had an ultrasound and the doc isn't seeing any follicles then that very well may mean it hasn't happened yet! FXFXFX!
