Hi All, my husband and I are thinking or ttc at the end of October. We have two daughters and are hoping to conceive a boy. If we conceive first month that would mean a 2 years and 9 month gap with our youngest daughter. Obviously it could take longer than this but that would be the minimum age gap. I remember Atomic mentioning previously that the longer the age gap the better the chances are of conceiving a boy after a girl. Just want to sort of do a poll and see how many of you have conceived boys 2 years after having a girl/s to have an approx 2yr 9 month year age gap. Is it highly unlikely, do I have a considerably lower chance and is it a bad idea to ttc next month? My husband and I didn’t really want to wait another year as we are 35yrs old.
Thanks

I don't think a 2 year 9 month gap is the super close gap like atomic advises against, she usually says 12-18 months before TTC again and that would be at least 2 years between you guys.

But to share the obsessive researching I did when I was pregnant with my DD, there are several successful boy sways on here with smaller gaps than even that. My husband has an uncle exactly 11 months younger than his mom (in a GGB) family, and he and his brothers are all Irish twins.

My two boys are 21 months apart. This time we are having a girl - will be only 17 months apart between her and DS2.

No that is plenty of time between babies for a blue sway.

We have people who are trying to conceive a boy with a 9,6, even 4 month age gap. 2 1/2 years is more than enough time!

And while all this is true, I have to issue my standard disclaimer that if anyone reading this now thinks, "oh ok well those people got boys with close spacing, so it's ok for me" remember what we are trying to do here is optimize our chances. If you want optimal chances of TTC a boy, don't TTC any sooner than 12 or preferably 18 months after your last baby is born. It doesn't mean that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a boy, never have I ever said that. It is simply not OPTIMAL and I have a thread in which we discuss in mind-numbing detail all the whys and wherefores https://www.genderdreaming.com/forum/trying-to-conceive-a-boy/57710-blue-swayers-why.html

Most people sway because they want the best chance of a particular gender. And so that is what I aim to give you guys especially when it's something that is relatively easy to do, and indeed is not only equally safe, but actually SAFER than a close child spacing. Because having pregnancies so quick back to back really does take a toll on the body.

But yeah 2 years + is plenty of a gap! Go for it!
