No... +ve will be darker than the control line... you may be just fading in longer than some people. Don't worry, you will see a +ve very soon.

November 29th, 2011, 07:13 PM
Another -opt.
They are getting lighter.
I'm starting to think I got my + the other day.
but only a tiny bit of the line was as dark as the control line.
I've used alot of opt's over the years and I've never seen a + one. I always thought that maybe I was just using them at the wrong times.
Does everyone get a + ?
Maybe I didn't O this cycle?

LH can fluctuate before it surges so you might not actually get a fade in. Not everyone gets it. Keep testing!

I personally do not think that is necessarily a fade-in pattern (unless it continues to get darker). It MAY be, it may not be. Many people have that amount of natural variation in their OPKs from day to day. It COULD be a fade in, or it could be that you're going to go for another week before O, you just can't tell by 3 fairly light OPK, what is really happening.
Good luck, I hope it's fading in for you!

I do really feel that one on CD17 was a + but only a tiny bit of the line is the same as the control. Can't really tell on the photo.

Sounds like you may have just missed the surge, I know if I never tested late at night I would have missed mine too, in the past!!!!! Going by your CM etc it does sound like you have O'd already.
love being a mummy
November 30th, 2011, 08:28 PM
Yeah I think I missed it.
I stopped doing afternoon / night ones cause the 2nd line was so faint.
I was getting that fade in pattern using FMU.
The last pic I posted is the darkest one I got.

It is possible you missed it but I would not call the pic a pos OPK in any way. You are there and can see it firsthand so use your judgement and not mine, but to me that is not pos.

TBH a lot of my internet cheapie OPKs don't go much darker than that when used between midday and evening. I only get a proper positive on them using FMU.

December 1st, 2011, 06:37 PM
Another -opt today, I am most certain I have already O'd and missed the surge.
CM is really drying up but I still have lower back pain and that usually goes away after O, I'll keep doing OPT's every day though just incase.
I read that you aren't supposed to use FMU cause you can get a fake + but I haven't been getting fake positives and when I was doing them not using FMU I was hardly getting a 2nd line at all. Maybe my LH surge just isn't strong enough but more likely I have missed the surge but I did do a test later on CD17 and the 2nd line was barely visible.

LBAM how long was your cycle last month? It's true you should not be using FMU. My opt's will be faint anytime of the month and then i get 2 days of +ve, so i really doubt you will miss it if you are at least doing 1 every 24 hours. I don't like to suggest anything negative but i'd say if you get a BFN this month it would be very likely that you didn't O at all. On the other hand if you get a BFP that means the OPT's you were using were not of a very good quality. I would continue to use them though just to be positve that it's not just delayed.

11am-evening, the hormone is said to peak in your body between 12 and 2pm, so then you'd have to wait for it to make it's way into the pee too, but as said before - I find FMU works better for me for some strange reason, but if you had a short LH surge it might not be that way

Thanks, ladies! One more question, since I pee a lot, especially since drinking all this tea and cl, do you have to hold your pee first for any amount of time?
love being a mummy
December 2nd, 2011, 08:05 PM
I've read it's best to not drink or eat at all for at least 2 hours before testing, so you would probably hold during those 2 hours aswell.

DH hasn't been taking supps and we haven't been releasing every 2nd day.
I am not confident enough to DTD now?
CM is very dry.
It's ok if I am going to O now, just means it wasn't meant to be, I'll have to wait until NYE for my next attempt.

Yep definatly a +ve, i guess the only way to know when you did O is to count the days until AF. Your LP should be very close to 14 days. What that means is if you did O on CD18 your AF will show 14 days later, but if you O now AF will be 14 days from now.

December 4th, 2011, 07:44 PM
Last cycle O was CD19, AF was CD32. Well technically it's classed as CD1 but you get what I mean.

I only kept testing because the +opt I got wasn't fully + the 2nd line was darker then the control line but it was only very thin. So I kept testing to see if I would get a + and now that I have I am thinking that I didn't actually O before.
I am now CD24 I don't think I've ever O'd this late before.
I am worried there might still being some sperm left there from DTD on CD18.
I don't really want to DTD tonight, we haven't been taking any supps, and I've been a bit slack on the diet.
Last DTD CD18,

No, no sperm waiting in there by now I wouldn't think. It is possible but unlikely.
A pos opk after O only means you will get a BFN if you didn't actually O in the first place. Which you didn't, and so you didn't BD at the right time to conceive. You are Oing now. annabel-lee just got a BFP after having several pos opk after she REALLY did O so we know for a fact that isn't the case.

Yes, TTC 5 had a truly pos OPK and her ovulation was also confirmed by temping.
It IS possible to get pos OPK after ovulation and be either pg or not pg. It is also possible to mistake a neg OPK for a positive and then later on get a pos OPK when you are actually ovulating.

what do you mean by + opk 5dpo? Do you still test past ovulation? is this a second o? i am confused.
Her first test was not positive amari.
All OPK test for is the presence of a certain hormone in your urine. It is TOTALLY possible to have a little blurp of that hormone before or after ovulation that shows up in your urine and registers lightly (or even darkly) on an OPK. It is also possible to have a fake O where your body almost O's but doesn't and that can show up as a true pos.
