My husband & I have been trying for a few months now & this is really the last month we will try until next year (would like to have baby in summer as i do not get maternity leave & am off during the summer). We BD every day from AF to positive OPK (the day of) & nothing. I have been trying to stay on the TTC girl diet with calcium, magnesium & folic acid supplements. I know for my boys I most definitely unintentionally was eating a boy diet & we BD every other day from the AF throughout my cycle. We would like a girl but also our almost 4 year old keeps telling everyone he not only wants a baby sister but that mommy is having a baby sister!

I swore I was pregnant this last cycle - but AF showed up over the weekend :(

I am 31 (32 in december) & he is 33 (34 in march). We did have a miscarriage before our oldest. We have a almost 4 year old boy & 2 year old boy - 18 months apart.

Any advice or what someone did in regards to abstaining/BD every other day, etc. would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for your patience, much easier for me to reply here!

So you had sex daily from AF through a cutoff. We have found this to be miserable odds of conception and it really isn't pink friendly anyway for the reasons I list in this thread (not the first post, scroll down a few and you''ll see my post) https://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/58359-what-up-bd-thru-o-pink-lately.html

What I would recommend instead is this:

1)If you want best odds of pink I would have your hubby release every 2-4 days and do one attempt at positive OPK. (note, I'm dropping frequency for you to give you a better chance of conception. It hasn't worked anyway and really cuts odds of conception)

2)If you want better odds of conception but still good chance of pink, I'd BD every 4 days (in the "monday/thursday" pattern or every 72 days, whatever is easier for you to understand) starting after your period ends and going on till when you're sure you've ovulated, even if that means carrying on till your next period begins or you get a bfp!

3)If you want absolute best chance of conception with possibly a lower, but still decent chance of pink, do that every 4 day method described above and then add in one more attempt at positive OPK (while continuing on with the e4d method wheneever that happens to fall). This is best chance of conception while still swaying pink.

Thank you for your response. So you would not have my husband abstain until the positive OPK?

Abstain hasn't worked and has really cut odds of conception. Since it's fairly important for you to be in with your best chance of conception this month while still maintaining as much of a sway as we can, it makes sense to skip the thing that doesn't work and really lowers your odds of conceiving - abstain - to hopefully boost your odds of conceiving with the thing that does work - one attempt.

So having him do regular release + one attempt focuses on both a good pink sway and good odds of conception.

If we DTD Wednesday (10/10) & I got a +OPK today - would you DTD today? Thanks!

Augh I only just now saw this - I would have still had you BD, because an attempt 2 days before positive OPK would have pretty slim chance of conception. But it's up to you - for best odds of pink, stick with attempt you had, for best odds of conception add an attempt. Above all else, whatever you did was the right thing to do! :)
