Hiya, had read that sperm survive up to 7 days so was going to dtd every 7 days so there was always some waiting but have now read the average is 3 to 4 days. So is everyone dtd within 4 days maximum before ovulation?
Also today I had some red streaked cm when taken from cervix and pink cm this am, about a week ago I also had this, but havent ovulated yet although opk's have been almost positive so would my body gear up to ovulate and still have some spotting even if I havent ovulated? Odd!
Thanks

You may only have creamy mucus externally but I think you need at least some EWCM internally to protect the sperm and help them move towards the egg and there's no way of judging whether you have that. It is possible to get pregnant 7 days before you O but not very likely - I don't think it's even especially likely 4 days beforehand.
If you're taking cm from your cervix then I'm guessing you may have irritated yourself and caused some bleeding. You shouldn't actually go inside the cervix because it puts you at risk of infection.

There have been small amounts of egg white cm, I dont really take from the cervix just around it but I guess I could have scratched it or something, Im sure it was first thing though so hadnt checked recently, odd!
Will see what tomorrows temps brings.

Sperm usually live 2-4 days maybe sometimes 5 - 6
You should be dtd every 2-4 days to help your chances.

Odds are VERY low to get pg from BD every 7 days. Not only because of the mucus but because your husband's count will be lowered. It's not like all sperm survive 7 days on the button either, because as soon as they are ejaculated, some begin to die and the rest begin to capacitate (prepare to fertilize the egg) in waves, in case the egg shows up some of them are always ready. They die several hours after capacitating but more are capacitating by that point.
So by the time 7 days rolls around, most if not all, have already capacitated and died.
Re the bleeding - are you 100% positive you are not pg?? (you can be pg even if you had AF!!)
If you're not pg, your cervix can get irritated from checking pH and also from using jellies in some people. If you're taking baby aspirin or cran (and SP to a lesser extent) these are blood thinners and can make you more likely to bleed from minor wounds.

Just to clarify, BD every 2-4 days helps chances of conception and sways blue. To help improve odds of pink, follow one of the frequency strategies outlined in this essay:http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/5636-frequency-bd-pink-blue.html

Thanks atomic, I wonder I the blood is from irritating the cervix, def. Not pregnant. I was planning on aiming to have time intercourse as far away from ovulation as possible in creamy cm as had lots of ewcm with the boys and used pre-seed so trying for the opposite. But for a good chance I will aim to dtd within 4 days before ovulation, ideally 2 to 3 days before O but am cd15 and no ovulation yet and opk is only half way there so may have to dtd on positive opk which will be 24 hours or less before O as that normally happens.

Def not pg because of test, or def. not pg because of AF?
I ask because I had AF and was 110% sure I was not pg and took supps and did strict diet, but it turned out I had miscarried a twin and swayed while I was actually pg - I just want to make sure no one else makes that mistake.
I personally think DTD on pos OPK is best anyway because it increases your chances of pg and we have a study that shows very clearly 50-50 boys and girls conceived on every day of the cycle. My very firm belief is that timing doesn't sway.

hmm, def. not pregnant because the only time we dtd last month was with a condom and although there could have been pre-ejaculation present, my temps are typically pre-O low. Will do a morning test anyway just for fun ha ha!
Still waiting for that positive opk to dtd! Had to order more tests as this is the first month I got lots of opk's that were half way there to positive for a week solid. Wonder if its the s.palmetto lowering my testosterone so letting more LH through or something as apparantly its common for women with PCOS to get fake positive opk's due to high LH levels but this has never happened to me

Oh, no need if you were using BC and have good temps. (I never know what people mean when they say "I"m sure I'm not pregnant" - that can mean a lot of different things so just making sure.)
Halfway positive OPK, is negative. If it ain't positive, it ain't positive. Your body can send out little squirts of LH from time to time that the OPK can detect (as you already know) and this is more common with PCOS. But a lot of gals are seeming to get this going on lately, even without PCOS, so it may be just one of those weird things.

I wonder if its some of the supps we are taking? Im taking saw palmetto, asprin, b6 and zinc every couple of days. My tests have always been a very slight faded line, no fade in, and then a very strong positive the day before or day of ovulation, but this cycle there has been a line that is half as strong as the test line-I presumed this was a fade in and the positive would happen later but it hasnt.

Still waiting, yawn!!
Ovulation is going to end up in the full moon and on our holiday, bloody typical! Was hoping to ovulate tomorrow at the latest and relax the diet a little for our weekend away but looking highly unlikely now. Blimmin typical. However, the plus side to this late ovulation means my due date would be 1st September onwards, which means he/she if they arrived then or after, wouldnt go to school till they turn 5 instead of just as they turn 4, so that would be brilliant. Thats if I conceive this cycle - and if I dont it means I get September to settle my eldest into his first year at school which is also a massive plus!

My DS was a 5 day "cut off" (not intentional but an oops pg), but we BD very late and then I must have O'ed very early (so even though it was 5 CD on my chart it was probably more like 4 days) and I had a LOT of EWCM. I have never heard of anyone having more than a 5 day cut off.

There are some out there (proven) but not very common!

Carmella_Marie -- My DS2 was also conceived 5 days before expected O. He was also an ooops baby, and honestly in my head I thought we were far enough away from O, so didn't think much of it....until end of month when AF didn't show. LOL. I also wonder if I didn't O earlier than expected bec it seems so improbable that the sperm would have survived that long. I also had EWCM, I get it a day or two after AF and I have it for like a week! Probably why I have 2 boys! :)

iLind, I totally agree. I believe for those of us who are super fertile, we have so much EWCM and our hubbies' sperm are so long lived that we really can DTD 5-7 days out and conceive boys OR girls.
My DS 1 was conceived in almost the exact same circumstance you describe. I had just gotten off AF and it should have been safe!! Even if I Oed early, I couldn't have Oed THAT early!!
