Hi,

Does anyone know what level chickpeas and peppers are on the LE diet?

Thanks.

I would limit chickpeas quite a bit because they have a lot of sodium and protein.

Peppers, I think are fine to eat regularly (like 1 a day) even tho they do have a pretty fair amount of nutrients.

Are they naturally high in sodium or is it the way they are preserved as I have seen some tinned ones in water where the whole can only has trace of sodium?

I think the sodium levels in the dry chickpeas aren't that high at all. I'm lazy and buy "no sodium added" tins of them and they only have 10mg per 1/2 cup. You should be okay there!!!

For sodium, it's the way they've been prepared. If you can find no sodium added, that's great.

The real prob is that they are LOADED with protein, 6 g protein per 1/2 cup. I think they're ok but not something to eat vast quantities of every day.

Sorry to bump this super old thread.

Would Chickpeas be okay for Vegan swayers?

Yes, this thread is 5 years old. Please guys don't take anything before 2012 or 2013 seriously, bump the post and reask because at that point most people were still wanting to blend the diets together and if I'd told them to eat sodium or anything "alkalinizing" they'd have rebelled against it. :) Now I have the data to back myself up and say, no, seriously, you can eat sodium and "alkalinizing" foods and we have the results to prove it, and I no longer have to cater my replies to the old-school diet advice.

As long as you stick in limits for the day, all foods are fine. Chickpeas are fine. Peppers are fine. Everything is ok as long as you stick in limits for the day, and yesyesyes chickpeas are GREAT for vegan swayers (both pink and blue actually as we do have some vegan blue swayers as well). The limits are what matter. There are no magic foods.

Thank you Atomic !
Hubbie was like "We can't not eat chickpeas!" it's his fave food lol
Hoping that as we're both vegan now it will help my sway, he's been vegan for ages.
Me just about 6 months

Being vegan really does sway pink. I have quite a few blue swayers who are vegans and I can count on one hand the number of vegan pink swayers I have (and virtually all of them were NOT vegans when they got their boys)

I'm vegan and fell pregnant with a boy on a vegan diet - a Shettles sway opposite.

I did post in the "how we got our boys" thread.

Basically, my diet was as follows:

Smoothie with a frozen banana, avocado, coconut water, Sunwarrior protein powder, spinach, chia seeds/flax seeds.

Two green juices a day.

Lunch/dinners - lots of salads, vegetables, chickpea curry, sweet potatoes, quinoa etc

Lots of snacking on nuts mainly.

Since being on the LE diet I entered my previous diet into My Fitness Pal and I was eating around 80g protein a day and 90g of fat!!!

Good luck!

I can't weed through all the sways, just don't have the time or the ability to do that.

We have had plenty of vegetarians who got boys.

:agree: thanks LA Girl

I do want to point out that vegans do get boys, that was not clear in my prev. post but it does happen with some regularity, vegan diets are not a guaranteed surefire way to get girls!

Vegans tend to eat super healthy and also take vitamins/eat fortified foods. And additionally the type of person who is attracted to vegan diets may be more set via personality factors to have boys anyway. Some of these things are not always as cut and dry, but overall still better for pink, I believe
