Traditionally, DTD after O or before O would sway girl and DTD on O would sway boy. There are many studies on timing and they all seem to have different findings, which leads some of us to believe that timing doesn't matter at all. This thread might be helpful:

Most ladies will want to dtd O-2 then again on O when ttc boy. If you are trying shettles method and want to dtd after O it can be anywhere from 12-24 hours after positive opk.

What is the reasoning?

I was always in the thought that timing doesn't matter and so happy Zanacal has proved this! EEek a little girl!! Are you telling people Z? Or keeping it a secret until Delivery?
I'm going to ask another question sorry in advance. Why does delayed O sway pink?

I think thedelayed bit means hormones have changed so you are less fertile so sways pink ifuswim?

FWIW, I ovulated early the month I conceived!
Lavender - we will tell people but not until after our 20 week scan. I don't want people to know I cared enough to pay for a private gender scan (I've been doing a great job of telling everyone I really don't mind if it's a boy or a girl!) and I want to make sure everything is as it should be at that scan :D

What is the reasoning?
First of all we have studies that show later O seems to sway pink (or more accurately, that people who are Oing late, are more "set" to conceive pink for some reason.) Let me just state very clearly that this is not 100% in ANY way and people with very regular cycles can and do conceive girls and people with long ones, conceive boys. (Tamara has stated at least once that she thinks long cycles sway blue but I do not know her reasoning.)
My thinking on the reason why is because lower levels of estrogen seem to indicate more girls conceived, and when you O late it can be because your estrogen levels are lower and it takes more time for your body to save up enough estrogen to trigger the surge.
