We have had some people who had this issue, and they did not have any problems. I"m not sure if they're on here any more or not, it's been a couple years. We're here to listen and I"m pretty good with my Google Medical Degree if you want to talk. :heart:

Hpv as in the human papillomavirus? Is that what you’re talking about?

I have this, it’s honestly nothing to worry about. 80% of the population have it ( I’m in UK, not sure where you are). It’s symptomless so most people have it and never know. You can’t ‘cure’ it but it can lay dormant for many years and even the rest of your life. In women it can cause changes in cervical cells but as long as you have the recommended regular smear tests then these small changes would get picked up early and sorted. This is how I found out I had HPV. It’s sexually transmitted so I was really confused as I hadn’t slept with anyone other than DH since the previous smear... anyway this is what I mean about it laying dormant... it’s always there but wasn’t physically inside the cells at the previous smear as I was younger and fitter but then I had a baby.. ha... very long nights and very run down meant the virus could come out of hiding.


Anyway, hope this makes sense. I did a lot of research in to it so I know quite a bit.. ish! I’m no dr but honestly do not worry! You can’t pass it on to baby either as it is sexually transmitted, I asked this question to a dr.

Thank you, I should have clarified, I was referring to the low risk type, which is even more embarrassing but definitely poses risk to baby :tissue:

Here is the thing though. Even among the very very worst things that you can get - like toxoplasmosis or rubella - it only causes problems rarely. I was exposed to toxoplasmosis when I was pregnant with one of my babies and it was horrifically stressful and then he was perfectly fine.

HPV is the most common thing out there - yet very few babies are affected. It's not Zikavirus, the odds of a bad outcome are minimal and treatable - and the most important thing is that you already know there's a distant possibility and so the doctors will be on the lookout and any issues could be immediately taken care of.
