Hello ladies!

So I was thinking, if my sister's first born was a girl, and my mom's, and her mom's, etc etc does that mean I have a higher chance of conceiving a girl as well? I always thought that the gender of the baby wasn't hereditary at all, but then you hear of families' who haven't had a boy/girl in decades so it got me wondering...

Hi and welcome!

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your viewpoint) that's not how it works. The genders of your family's firstborns have nothing to do with what gender your baby is. I have an essay on that here: https://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/47852-we-only-dont-make-boys.html

Families have a lot of things in common. They often have similar lifestyles and in the case of siblings have lived under the same roof for years. So gender may run in families to some extent but it'snot a genetic link, it's an environment thing.
