View Full Version : Sneak peek said boy, but girly nub?

Hi all -
I know Sneak Peek is not always accurate, but it told me boy. The image is from my NT scan (12w3d); it looks girly to me and unlike my boys (except for their early scans at like 11 weeks).
I did have someone say the top looks girly, but that bottom is pointing up to indicate boy.
Anyway, would love your thoughts.
Thanks!

it's a great nub shot. I am definitely not an expert in nub theory but I thought a stacked nub is a boy nub, could be wrong and I hope so if you are wanting your girl. good luck

Yeah, I'm not really seeing stacking though? I wish I could find a way to post my last boy's photo. It was super obvious, lol

That is a girl. I wpuld almost buy pink with this shot! My only hesitation is that it's not closer to 13 weeks so there's still a possibility of it rising but I definitely does not look like it is!

I literally prayed before this U/S: "God, I don't need to know that it's a girl, I just need a shred of hope." Well...He gave it to me. :)

We do not know if this baby is a girl or a boy.
12 weeks 3 days is too early for a reliable nub. The nub can still rise.
Sneak Peek is not reliable but a 12 w 3 d nub is also not reliable. 50-50 from me.

they give a lot of bad replies, too, though. People have been crushed by things people told them in that group.
We can't tell just yet on the basis of any of this. FXFXFX!!

So the consensus is: looks girly, but could still rise. And don't trust Sneak Peek. The mystery continues!

Quite girly based on this pic - BUT- there was a similar nub on here a few weeks back that looked all girl at the same gestation and it turned out to be a boy. While I am leaning girl, I'd feel a lot more confident if it was closer to 13 weeks. Good luck, I hope this is your girl :HH:

In my short, but intense [emoji1787] experience... a video of the scan shows much more certainty than a single shot... I’ve seen friend’s 12 week scans which show parallel & forking and the next second there’s stacking.
That why doctors study these live scans with such detail and not only a single shot.
Good luck...!

I'm starting to long for the days when ultrasounds weren't even a thing, and we just waited to see what we get. :D
But I hear you. I did watch the live scan a bit and couldn't see stacking, BUT, I've also seen the really girly nubs that turn out to be boys. And, with the Sneak Peek result, it truly does put me back in the 50/50 category.

Im sorry you’re going through this uncertainty... this is why I didn’t want to do Sneak Peak, cause even if you do get boy results they’re not always accurate..
So it just messes with your mind. Just wanted to say that nub does look girlish.
Whens you’re next scan?

It's my own fault! I knew Sneak Peek wasn't totally accurate and took it thinking "Ill take it with a grain of salt", when really, it crushed me and I've been trying to research odds of it being wrong. I should've just not done it. My next scan is 20 weeks, but we're staying team green (officially). Un-officially, I'm looking for clues wherever I can. :)

:agree: I wonder how much of this is "real" gender disappointment and how much is that we aren't "meant" to find out.
It's hard to love a grainy ultrasound image, that's for sure. :)

Also, Coralsky and (I think) californiadreaming had nubs that looked girl LATE into the 13th week that were both boys. I was SHOCKED by both of those and it strengthened my resolve that it's a tentative thing even till the confirmation shot.

I know people don't understand why I'm so adamant about you guys not going in for the non-for sure things...Ramzi, the Sneak Peek, the Drano test, symptom spotting, OWT etc because it seems so harmless but it messes with people's heads HUGELY. Creates SO much despair for people (either they have false hope and are then really set up for a fall, or they get really sad for no reason) it is just not worth it! There is no FUN in it at all, it's just hurtful for 85% of people.
FXFXFX!!! Still hoping for pink.

That's my reasoning for going team green. I've never felt one iota of disappointment when they've been put in my arms.
On the other hand, a grandma-type of relative was handed her 3rd girl back in the day and cried (not happy tears) for days, until her friend came over later in the week with a bottle of whiskey and was like, "Get up, you've got kids to take care of."

I agree and you're welcome to use me as a case study. :) The SP results totally brought me down. Like down down. So my desperate request from the Lord above was just to give me SOME hope with this ultrasound, to even me back out. Bring me back to the 50/50 place I was before. And it did. I feel somehow more at peace, even it does end up being a boy in the delivery room. Had the u/s shown me a boy, I'd have been out. No hope.
And all of this thanks to Sneak Peek. All it gave me was an exhausting emotional exercise.

As a general rule I do like anyone who's got a preference to find out in advance, for this very reason. Some women have practically had nervous breakdowns (and a few people, there was no practically about it) but I suspect many of them had talked themselves into being convinced it was a "whatever their desired gender was". Some of the worst people had been told by ultrasound techs or by believing symptoms/OWT that it HAD TO be a "whatever" and that's one of my hugest fears wtih the Sneak Peek, is people going in to deliver being 100% convinced their baby is one gender only to find out it's another.
But everything you say about there being "no hope" is totally true. Being pregnant is not so fun for 90% of us, and then we get handed an ultrasound and hear "bad" news and have to sit there for another 5 months...yeah. That's rough. so as long as you know in your heart and mind and gut it can be either a boy or a girl, then Team Green is doable but anyone who thinks they're gonna take it really hard may want to reconsider.
I will say after giving birth to my daughter the nurse jokingly said "She's still a girl" and even as immersed in all this as I am, I had not given a moment of thought to gender for the entire labor, birth, as they cleared out her lungs, etc (she had the cord around her neck, so a little hectic right at the end there). I had totally forgotten I even had a preference, I just wanted the baby to be healthy and to see it and I was enourmously glad it was over with nothing really bad happening. So I can testify that in the delivery room, at least for me, it didn't matter any more.

Chiming in here because I totally agree about the ultrasound thing! I was determined to be team green all the way (still am) but for some silly reason decided to post my 12 week ultrasound photo here hoping beyond hope that I would get the “looks like a girl!” comments. Though it wasn’t even a full 12 weeks, the nub does seem angled already and I’ve been really feeling like it’s a boy so when all the comments came in pretty much saying boy, I was so devastated. Since then, I’ve been researching “how often is nub theory wrong” and since it can be, I’m just trying to convince myself that it truly is 50:50 until the little one comes out. But it’s almost as if my fears have been confirmed even though at barely 12 weeks, it’s not a for sure either way. It’s auch a mind warp!!

I had no idea what sneak peak is so googled it, it's not accurate says if you contaminate results it will definitely be false you have to really sterilize the area incase male dna is there easily done if you have any males in the house

Yeah - I thought I cleaned it pretty well. So now I have two 'not always accurate' theories telling me opposite answers. I think I truly was meant to wait until the baby is here, because everything else is just stressing me out! I also just saw another girl on another forum say Sneak Peek sent her a boy result, then hours later, a girl result. She called and they had no explanation.

This was me with boy #3. He had the boy-est of boy nubs at 13 weeks and it totally bummed me out. After that experience, all I wanted with baby #4 was that it just wouldn't be such an obvious boy nub...so I could hold onto hope (and torture myself with guessing, ha!).
I've also seen so many flat white nubs that turn out to be boys. In the end, we just can't be sure.

Exactly, it really is up on the air until the end. I read an interesting blog somewhere by a sonographer saying that since this theory came out, she privately followed many of her friends, co-workers and patients and even she was wrong half of the time. She went on to say that if it was really that easy to tell based on nubs then it would be widely accepted and used by the medical community but because there are so many “clear” nubs that turn out different, they just can’t rely on the theory until much later in the pregnancy. I love that logic and decided to adopt it and believe that angled or not, it’s not a boy until it’s in my arms. Until then, I will continue dreaming pink!!!
