I am on birth control and was on an antibiotic a couple of weeks ago for a sinus infection. Was supposed to get AF today and still hasn't shown. I have 2 boys already and from what I have researched antibiotics sway boy.. So am I doomed if I am pregnant? I am really started to freak because we weren't going to start swaying for a girl until next fall.

From what I remember on IG, antibotics do sway boy but I do not think they linger in your system long at all. How many weeks ago? And I wouldn't worry about this one little thing...because there are lots of factors to go into swaying, so I don't think one thing not being perfect ruins all the chance.

I'd definitely wait for an expert to chime in.

Hi there!

Are you aware that antibiotics can interfere with BC and make them ineffective?? I think you had best test immediately before you take any more of your BCP because they're not safe to take in pg.

To answer your question, YES, antibiotics do seem to sway blue for some people by creating extra CM and raising pH. That having been said, being on BCP sways PINK by shrinking cervical crypts that produce CM to begin with, making the CM more acidic and thick, and potentially making you hormonally more "set" for pink, so the BCP in your system may very well have counteracted (or even improved upon) anything the antibiotics could have done anyway.

People DO conceive both boys and girls on antibiotics...if there were any magic bullets for swaying, I would have had to take up knitting as a hobby instead! Good luck!! :)

Bringing this thread back up b/c I am a little concerned that I have to take a round of antibiotics right now... I will finish the round approx. 3 weeks from my first attempt, I hope this is ok?? :( Surely 3 weeks should be long enough to get my CM back under control...

3 weeks out should be fine.
