So was reading past posts and someone was going to have DH abstain, but mentioned that you said it may not be a good idea because of DH age! I'm concerned... My DH is 43 and I am 31, as mentioned before with both sons we instantly became pregnant. DS2 I believe he abstained and the we dtd and preggos, DS1 I think we BD a couple times before getting it right! But now I do not know what to do. I know you told me in a previous post that timing (i.e. shettles and O+12) does not matter, but there's more of an emphasis on just the positive OPK. What would you suggest FR or abstain, if FR how often before OV??

THANK YOU!

Hi Katie, so FR for girl sway? How many days prior to O, and how often?

OK - so I just found this thread! Makes sense! Writing down in my countdown journal to DTD a few days beofre, even through positive OPK day! So with strict diet, supplements (although calcium is now scaring me because I was/am taking calcium magnesium to make up for no milk in diet), weight loss, and using rephresh - should help sway me pink!!! Fingers crossed!!

Yes, I think frequent release is better for anyone over 35. Technically you could DTD for reals 4,3,2, days before O (even DTD more than once on those days), and even add another attempt on the day you get a pos OPK. If you go this route, stick to diet very thoroughly, do antihistamines, and you will prob. want to use RepHresh too. This isn't the strictest sway, of course, so be aware."

Looks like you answered your own question before I could! Are you trying this month?

No planning on trying in February. I do not have a digital ph tester and ordered it last week, so need to figure that out first on this go round - this will be my practice run. I started diet, but not too strict till today. What calcium supplements do you take? I was taking Calcium/Magnesium with 1,000mg Cal & 500mg Mag., but was told this could sway blue...

I was planning on taking this Ca/Mag supplement. Why does it sway blue?

Sorry, just realised its probably because they are nutrients and you want low nutrients to sway pink and high nutrients to sway blue.

I don't know...I think that's what has been mentioned too many nutrients, although a lot of women mention taking this supplement in their posts. Confused, don't know if there is just a straight calcium to take or chews - which will provide that additional calcium. I don't drink milk, so may need it...

I'm not taking them. I am doing the diet, using rephresh every 3 days, taking baby aspirin every other day, drinking lots of crystal light, and once AF is gone I am going to use OPK daily until I get a positive. DH is also on diet and taking aspirin, plus abstaining until we DTD.

So Katie, are you drinking milk to get enough calcium? And are you taking baby aspirin daily or every 3 days too - notice some space out aspirin...

sosa - did you notice that DH needs to release at least once a day (twice a day if he's that way inclined!) for 7-10 days before you start DTD? Releasing for just a few days will still sway blue!

Thanks Zanacal!! Aah! That's a lot - hopefully he's up to it!! Let's hope there's still some swimmers for me - lol!!

I personally would NEVER do abstain with a 43 year old DH. Did the essay that Katie posted answer your q's??

But just to be clear, those are ATTEMPTS and not releases. You ahve to have your DH release for 7-10 days in a row once or even twice if he can, for 7-10 days BEFORE your FIRST attempt. DTD only on those days mentioned above would not be enough to sway pink and might even sway blue in some guys.

Regardless of how it sways, THAT IS TOO MUCH MAGNESIUM and is dangerous for your health. No more than 250 mg Mag via supps at the very most please!!

Here is a series of three essays that lays out the case against calcium. You may also want to read the comments at the ends of the essays too because there is some interesting discussion about it.

Your body stores calcium for some time (and some calcium is allowed via diet on the Low Everything Diet anyway) so don't worry if you eat a little less for a couple months when you sway, it will not harm your health in the short or long term.
