We are TTC a girl.

My husband usually takes testosterone, medically prescribed because his is about as low as a 70 year old man's. He's been off of it for 2 weeks.

He's doing 2 weeks on and then goes off when I start AF again. He can feel the difference when it's really low, which is probably good for TTC a girl but not good for him, so he has to take it in between.

My OPK was almost positive last night and my husband felt like he needed to go back on his meds soon because it's affecting his mood negatively to be off of it. So we DTD last night because he was going back on the testosterone today.

Anyway, I was sure my OPK would be positive in the morning because of how close it was last night. But it's not. It's closer than before (I didn't think it was possible to be any closer without being positive). I think now for sure it will be positive by tonight, but that means we DTD about 24 hours before positive OPK.

Did we just waste this month?

Next month, I'm waiting until a fully positive OPK. But maybe I should just prepare myself now that I'm out for this month.

I hope doing it before positive OPK doesn't sway boy. :/

This morning 10:30 am
40896

This afternoon 3:00pm
40897

I guess I didn't realize it could get this close and then STAY this close without going positive shortly after, so now it's possible we just used our one shot 2-3 days before O, assuming I will get a positive OPK at SOME point today.

I want him to stay on his medication. It's never been proven that testosterone sways for ANYONE let alone for DH. This is all conjecture that testosterone sways and he needs the medication that is appropriate for him. There is no evidence that going off and on testosterone will help your sway at all and it is really hard on the body. No more of that, please.

Timing doesn't sway. So while it may mean your chance of conception is lower, it won't hurt your sway any.

What about multiple attempts? As in, should I try again at positive OPK, or leave it until next month?

Thanks! And he’ll be glad to know about the testosterone!

And it’s definitely fainter now. *♀️ so I didn’t get a positive OPK today.

I got my positive OPK just now. I was just SO off.

We DTD 12/13 around 11:30pm. Got positive OPK today at 11:30 am.

That puts us at DTD 36 hours before positive OPK. So I wasted this month. At least I know for next month :)

I don't recommend multiple attempts but I do think you should have one more once you get a true positive. Once it gets to be 4 days from ovulation, I always recommend another attempt

36 hours after attempt, plus another 36 hours after that for average time to ovulation (often longer) and the other stuff you told me (hubs' medication, your weight loss) and I would have you attempt again.
