I was surprised to see Adelyn on the list twice because just yesterday hubby was thinking of baby names, yes funny guy wants a girl, but he knows I like Madeliene and Ashlynn for a girl. He was thinking of ways to make a non common name so I wouldn't be the only one with an odd name. He brought up Adelynn and Ashliene.

How about the Irish Aisling (pronounced Ash-ling)? Is that where Ashlynn comes from anyhow?

What a great list! Though I am wondering why the Nevada couple named their child Envy

That is how I got my middle name. My dad thought Aisling was to odd for the 1980's so he changed the spelling.

That was fun to read. Thanks for posting! Were the Connecticut babies twins? They were born a really long time apart!

Also, I saw this on the news:

Yes, I would hate to go through life saying I am Envy. Could you image taking attendance in class-

Teacher- Envy?
Envy- Here!

And the teacher wouldn't just say the name either, she would sigh and shake her head and roll her eyes and mispronounce it 40 times so the kid can't help but know the teacher hates their name.

When I was growing up Kristin was really super uncommon and EVERY teacher, school secretary, etc made this big deal about it like I was personally offending them by not being Kristi or Christine. It does something to your mind!!

I always tried to get to the teacher before class started because the thought of having someone say "Kathleen?" in front of my whole class terrified me. It took me a long time, but now I love my name!

My real name is Virginia, and I also happen to live in the state of Virginia....

yeah I'm ready for the *eye rolls*

I got a lot, "why did your mom name you after the state?" Then I'd have to remind them that the first child born in the US (from the English settlers, of course) was named Virginia Dare and she was born....GASP! In the state of Virginia (which back then was like 4-5 states big, but who's counting?)

I got teased about being a "virgin" a lot too, because I was in high school and very "shy."

Now I'm over it and love my name because I was named after my grandma, and I love family names....and it just fits me, i'm glad I wasn't given a common name, to be honest.

Envy reminds me of cheap diet pills and sketchy clubs. Poor kid.
