I thought this would be useful information for those that tend to have m/cs, so basically load me up with some info lol, tell me what vitamin or herb and then tell me why it might increase your chances of a m/c :)

I believe b-6 and baby aspirin can both cause mc if stopped suddenly after conceiving. Not sure if your taking either of these or not but you would need to ween off once pregnant. I also just found out on another thread that vitex can cause mc if taken while pregnant so it seems it's recommended to only take from AF-O

slightly off-topic, but supplements that can DECREASE your risk of MC include ones which improve your uterine lining, such as:
Raspberry leaf tea
Omega 3 fatty acids (i.e. fish oil)

also supplements that improve the quality of eggs and sperm, such as:
folic acid
essential fatty acids (omega fish oil/EPO)
avoiding sugar/smoking/alcohol

I'm sure there are more but can't think of them off the top of my head!

These all work in different ways and I don't really want to spend the time to list all of them here because they're almost all spelled out in other places, so please let me know if you have any specific q's about any of these.

cranberry
vitex
saw palmetto
excessive use of pep tea
stopping vitamins suddenly especially B6 and folic
stopping baby aspirin suddenly or continuing to take it high doses even if you are having a lot of bleeding or bruising
extremely high dose Vit C
ibuprofin/advil
antidepressants
too much caffeine

Something I am not sure of but just wary, is taking antihistamine either on O day or esp. after O. I wonder if that might dry up fluids that the egg needs to move through on the way to implant in the uterus.

Can weaning yourself off of folic acid before your 1st trimester is over cause m/c? Or weaning yourself off b6 before 1st trimester is over increase your chances of m/c? How long does it take to get aspirin or high dose of cranberry out of your system? Assuming you stop on or close or maybe a day past ovulation and the egg implants 6dpo(the minimum I have read on when an egg implants) would 5 to 6 days be long enough for the effects of sp, aspirin, cranberry not effect baby or implantation(basically all blood thinners), how does vitex cause m/c and same question how long it takes to get out of system would 5/6days be long enough? I get bfps around 9dpo so egg implants pretty early wondering if maybe I should stop some things a little earlier then O day?

EVERYONE MUST TAKE FOLIC ACID THROUGHOUT THE FIRST TRIMESTER NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS. Then wean yourself back to the amount in your prenatal over the course of a couple weeks.

B6 only has been linked to mc when stopped cold turkey. you can continue taking it in the first tri if you like and it may help with morning sickness (did NOT help me at all.)

Sp and vitex leave the body quickly and are safe to be stopped at O.

Vitex during pg may cause mc by interfering in the hormonal cascade needed to initiate and sustain pg.

Aspirin is safe during early pg and may even help the baby to implant, you need to wean yourself off tho rather than stopping cold turkey.

Cran should be stopped at O because it does cause MC

If you stop things too soon, you dont' get the benefits from them so you may as well not even take them.

Ok thanks and I what I meant was wean yourself off the extra folic acid too soon lol I agree folic acid is very important I didn't mean wean off altogether sorry I didn't make to much sense there :)

Sorry about the all caps there but I just want to be 100% sure that everyone has that reminder in their face whenever the topic comes up.

Take the folic acid at the higher level that your body is accustomed to, throughout the first tri. If you're taking 1200, keep taking 1200. If you're taking 2000, keep taking 2000. etc. Taking more is ok (so if you want to take 800 and then increase to 1200 that's fine) but taking less is prob a bad idea.
