View Full Version : Returning member, ttc a girl

Hello everyone! I’m a returning member and am hoping to ttc in June! Last year in January I suffered miscarriage and have been off since then. My husband and I are now hoping to try swaying again and want to ttc in June!
I have quite a bit of weight to lose, for the past year I’ve just been eating what I want and I’ve had a pretty “boy friendly” lifestyle.
Being that I am very overweight I will be on the PCOS LE diet. I am hoping I can go vegetarian as long as there is no negative effects being I’m on the PCOS diet.
I don’t think I have PCOS although I’ve never been tested.
I do carry most of my weight in my stomach, have Chin hairs (although most of my Italian family has it also)
My cycles average around 29-30 days, out of those 6-7 days are my period, which I feel is pretty normal.
I plan on doing 5 days a week of 60 min cardio (walking)
As I said I’d love to go vegetarian and eat tofu and beans as my protein if it wouldn’t harm my sway. I do drink quite a bit of coffee with almond milk and sweet n low, and I do drink wine once in a while.
Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated:)
I also want to add that I do suffer with OCD, but it has been a lot better lately! I’ve been doing the diet for about a week.
Thank you all in advance! :D

Welcome back! I remember you from when I was on the swaying boards. We never ended up swaying as we decided to go HT. We have just completed our cycle and are waiting on the results. Should be receiving them soon! Wishing you all the best on your swaying journey again!! [emoji166]

Hi again Praying! So sorry for your loss!!
I DEFINITELY want you on the alternate diet. You don't have to go fully vegetarian - and in fact I think you'd be best off at least to start, to continue to eat a little chicken and fish now and then. I want you to be somewhat cautious with things like beans and tofu because they're still pretty carby. Going fully vegetarian may end up being too carb heavy and may undermine your chances by raising blood sugar. It's fine to have tofu 2-3 times a week and beans 2-3 times a week, but split that up by having fish 2x and chicken 3x as well, not to mention dairy and eggs.
I'd suggest myoinositol (2000 mg daily in the FP, 1000 daily or 2000 every other day in the LP and then gradually wean off at BFP by spacing doses further and further out till down to one per week, then drop) And also cinnamon, but only the Ceylon cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon (this is a very small amount! no more than this!) during the FP, 1/4 during the LP, and at BFP gradually wean off till down to dietary amounts only)

Thank you atomic.
I won’t go full vegetarian, I don’t really eat fish, would that be an issue? I can try to add it if I absolutely need to. Chicken is no problem, I’ve started to have chicken or turkey at lunch and then for dinner have something like a veggie burger on a lettuce wrap or half a cup in brown rice with veggies and sweet potatoe.
Also I’m not too much of a fan of milk (it really upsets my stomach) would full fat cheese, yogurt and sour cream be ok in the dairy department?
How many times a week should I have eggs? And also how many eggs?
What is myoinositol, I googled it and just saw that it was for egg health? Is it something I could just get in a drugstore?
I’m also wondering, would it be beneficial for me to get tested for pcos and insulin resistance? Or would being on the alternative diet be good enough even if I don’t have pcos or insulin resistance (I don’t know if that makes sense lol)

Yes cheese, yogurt, sour cream is fine!
4-6 eggs a week, unless you really have trouble getting enough protein, then have up to 2 per day.
Being on the diet and myoinositol will help if you have PCOS. And many times you'll test negative for PCOS but still have tendencies that way (and will still benefit hugely from the alterante diet and the myo, both for the sake of your fertility, and for your sway!)
Myoinositol is a natural dietary supplement, kind of like a vitamin, that's been very helpful for lowering blood sugar and helping people with PCO and some extra weight to spare.

I don't know what specific formula you're asking about but I generally advise against things like that for swaying. They're often fortified with too many vitamins and/or have herbs in them that we don't know how they sway.
If you have weight to spare you could use the myoinositol as well (and the alternate diet)

Thank you so much for the reply.
I’ve been doing my meal plans in advanced and put in two eggs a day at lunch with mayo on a slice of whole grain bread along with veggies and hummus
And then having small amounts of either chicken, ground turkey or sliced turkey lunch meat for dinner on either a salad or with half a cup of brown rice and veggies. (Is having small amounts of meat daily allowed?) Along with cottage cheese and regular cheese and other things to up my calories. Last sway I did 1200 calories a day, I’ve been trying to do 1200-1400 a day being I have a lot of weight to spare!
Do you have a specific number of carbs that we shouldn’t go over being in the PCOS diet? I’ve been sure to have all of my carbs come from things like brown rice, whole grain bread, whole grain crackers, veggies and fruits, but wasn’t sure of what the limit should be (if there is one) so far it’s been around 130-180 ish grams daily. I feel like that’s a lot. Trying to make sure I eat enough daily without going over in protein and fat, is hard to do without adding those carbs.
Awesome on the Myo, I will try to find it and add it in to my sway, even with it being supplement it wouldn’t sway blue? I’ve been not taking any vitamins since starting to sway.
Sorry for all the questions, just want to ask and not get so hung up on all the details since I am OCD prone lol

Yes small amounts of meat are fine especailly on the PCOS-type diet.
There's not a specific limit as different dieters have different needs. Let your weight loss be your guide, if it's flying off, eat more carbs, if it's not, cut carbs.
I would not recommend something to you that swayed blue, of course. Of 13 people who took it, 12 got girls. I can't recommend it for most people as it makes them lose too much weight (so please anyone reading this thnking "I like those odds LOL" please don't take it unless you clear it with me first) but I do believe it sways pink for those who can take it.

Awesome! I’m going to keep things as I have them then with my diet.
I usually lose weight with whole grains, even have with very small amounts of white carbs here and there, but that was also on a 1000-1200 calorie diet so I guess I will see how things go this time around!
Is coffee ok on the alt diet? I usually get a iced coffee with almond milk and two sweet n lows from Starbucks.
For future reference if I do need to cut out carbs, what is a good alternative to up cals? I’ve tried (for a day) to completely cut out bread and whole grains and always went over in protein and fat.
Thank you for the clarification on the myo, I was honestly confused as to what it was and what it was used for, but that makes sense being that I have a bit of weight to lose. ( and I do like those odds) now just to find it. I’ve been googling it, the things that pop up are myoinositol and inositol, are they the same thing?
Thank you again for answering my questions! I appreciate it:)

Yes if you reduce cals enough you'll lose weight even eating birthday cake but we want this to be a healthy diet. :)
Coffee is ok and so is almond milk BUT do be aware that sometimes in Starbucks-type drinks, the "almond milk" in it is actually quite a large serving (so 1-2 cups of almond milk) which often has quite a lot of cals and nutrition in it. Just be sure the almond milk is just there to whiten up the coffee a little and is not like a lattee where the milk is the main drink and the coffee is practically a flavoring agent.
Potatoes, sweet potatoes, fresh fruit, and fat.
What limit were you using for protein and fat?
there are a couple forms of inositol, d-chiro and myo. The body makes the d-chiro version from the myoinositol and some think people with PCOS ~may~ have ~slightly~ less ability to make the d-chiro. BUT the thing is, if you take enough myo, you can make enough d-chiro ANYWAY even if you do have less ability than average to make d-chiro. And most "myoinositol" supps have some d-chiro in it and so I just use myoinositol to make it easier on everyone rather than launching into an unneccesary explanation (since if we take enough, even those with impaired ability to convert can still make it and most have both in them to start with.)

Yes I definitely want this one to be healthy! I’m trying to give everything my best shot this time around without barely eating!
My coffee is usually pretty dark, I’m not sure how much they put in but for now on I’m going to be sure to say just a little almond milk. I also don’t know if they used sweetened almond milk or unsweetened, if they used sweetened, do you recommend cutting the almond milk out? I don’t want to inadvertently be having something I shouldn’t.
My fat and protein have both been 57-60 daily. That’s not including the protein and fat in my veggies.
I’m going to try to find the myo on Amazon. Most things I’m finding are like a powder to put in drinks. Like fertility support and they’re about 35$ the only myo’s that I found are around 24-30$ is that about the going rate? I found just inositol capsules for around 8$ but they’re not myo.
At this point after my loss my husband is fine with spending the 30$ if that means better egg quality!

if it's sweetened I'd have it with a meal.
Those are good amounts of pro and fat, but if you have to go up to 65 that's not the end of the world! Still likely very different than when you got boys.
Yes the myoinositol is a powder, that's how it comes most of the time. I've honestly not ever purchased it myself and not sure what people are paying, I know the brand names are higher than that, though.

I actually ordered my coffee black with sweet n low today and it wasn’t bad, I’ll probably continue to do that!
I literally used to eat absolutely horrendous before I conceived my son. I actually ate more protein and fat then what is recommended on the HE diet! It was bad!!!
are hard shelled tacos ok to eat on this diet? Obviously not all the time but once in a while?
I’ve found myo pill form, the only powder I found was fertility support, I guess it has myo in it and they just renamed it? The one is fairhaven myo-folate and the other powder is premama fertility support. I should just go to a store and see if they have it at this point lol

You can have some kind of cream or milk in the coffee, it doesn't have to be totaly black!
Hard shell tacos are fine - ate em when I got my girl.
If you post a link I'l tell you if they're ok or not.

I actually don’t really mind it black, I have unsweetened almond milk at home I could always add. Would adding milk or cream be more beneficial? I think I read somewhere in here that almond milk sways, do cream and milk sway too?
These are a few I found online! There’s a lot of cheaper inositol but I don’t know if that’s the right kind.

Awesome! I wasn’t sure if it had to say myoinositol or not. I’m debating if I should just go for the more expensive one or not.
I know a lot of people are on this diet for quite some time, my husband and I wanted to try to conceive in June and although I do know that it’s not set in stone that we will conceive on the first month of trying, but I was still wondering, being that I have a lot of weight to lose, would it be safe for me to go from 1300/1400 calories a day to 1200 calories a day for the last month before our attempt? I just want to be sure I lose enough weight before our attempt, but don’t want to do 1200 calories the whole sway.
Sorry that was very long winded lol

February 27th, 2019, 04:56 PM
As long as it's a name brand you trust, it doesn't need to be the more expensive one.
Very, very few people should be below 1500 cals. I would guess only about 3% of all swayers should be that low so please start off eating more than you think yo'ull need (I'd recommend the 1500 minimum cutoff) and see what happens. Weight may fly off, and in that case you should continue at the higher intake. If you don't lose at 1500-1800, THEN you can reduce SLIGHTLY but we do not ever want you to be in a situation where you're losing more than 2 lbs a week (it's ok to see large weight losses the first week on a diet then it should slow down).
This is NOT meant to be "eat as little as you can stand." It's meant to be a lower than normal, but still adequate food intake for anyone planning a pregnancy that will keep you ovulating. So resist temptation to cut back too far and too quickly!
Prayingforagirl67
February 27th, 2019, 05:17 PM
I’ll stick with the 1500, I don’t want to stop ovulation. Last time around I definitely don’t think was healthy being at 1000-1300 calories the whole sway!
Like I said in another post I’ve already lost about 25 lbs due to illness and dieting possibly (probably most of it was from being sick)
Being that I am in the predicament that I’m in(from other post) would you suggest not starting the myo until I know I’m not pregnant?
atomic sagebrush
February 28th, 2019, 02:29 PM
Yes plese do not start the myo untill your period arrives AND you've taken a pregnancy test. Don't just rely on your period, you have to actually test too since you can be pregnant with what appears to be a normal period.
