View Full Version : What was your BD pattern when you conceived your boys?

I know there is already a "how we got our boys" thread, but I am wondering specifically about timing here. If you know what CD you DTD, please share! (I may have O'ed a day early, leaving me with a 24 hr cut off, so I am hoping some have conceived a boy like this).
Thanks!

Hi Hobbermitten!
So, I am kind of in the same boat....but just finished bding with a one time attempt the day before o...which I think is all boy. I am debating trying again.
How did you get your girls?
For DS 1 I was on clomid and dtd on cd 12, 13, 16 and 18 (21 and 22 after o).
I had a super dark OPN on cd 18 and we dtd in the am.
For DS 2 it was an oops and we dtd once on 0-1.5...I felt the o pains two days later in the afternoon and it was probably the first time I ovulated on my own! (I have PCOS).
What were you trying for?

We want a boy!! :)
My girls were both "oops" babies... one was a 4 day cut off and the other was on O day.

we BDed every day (sometimes twice a day) right through OV... and always had a big O. My pH must have been super-high!

I wasn't tracking O when I conceived the boys, just DTD every other day until some time after cd14. I believe I only DTD on O day with one of them - I get very sensitive down below on O day and DTD is quite painful and I remember the month we conceived DS2 how much it hurt!! I really don't think you need to worry :D
Lemon - I don't think a one day cut-off is boy timing at all!
I know most will have already read this but I'm posting a link for those who haven't:

Ahhh, but I WANT it to be boy timing! And I know it shouldn't matter. I am just rethinking what we did and going over and over it, and the fact that I missed O day is my one regret. Other than that (and DH indulging in his vices that couldn't make him stop) I was really happy with my sway.

... but I mean that it's not boy timing or girl timing lol! There is no such thing (repeat after me as many times as necessary :D).

Boy timing can be anything, my BIL told me he and his Ex were DTD every single day when she fell preg with their son. As for me i only know that DTD every second day gave me a DD.

I know, I know, I know. If I had DTD both the day before O and on O, I wouldn't care, which is funny, because most probably the 24hrs before O sperm are the ones that get the egg anyhow, right?

For my son we dtd for 4 days in a row. I am not positive when I O'd, but I think it was on the 3rd day.

ds1 i dont have a clue lol(I know it was a couple of days after af but I had no clue about ovulation so I dont know when I O, I actually thought you O at the end of your cycle and if egg didnt fertilize then you started bleeding lol), ds2 we bd everyday through O, ds3 was a sway but long story dh screwed it up on our practice month so it was a sway becuase I was doing everything and he was a like a 3 or 4 day cutoff, and ds4 I was breastfeeding(ds3) and my cycles were way off and took the chance not thinking I would O a couple of days later so he was like a 3 to 4 day cutoff too, this time I am just going to bd through O and just not worry with timing

We are having a boy this time and I O'd on August 16th and we dtd on the 12th, 13th, and the night of the 15th. I think I O'd early on the 16th because we were going to dtd again that night but my cm was already way different.
Got my girl by dtd one time three days before O.

With DS 1 we BD 2 times in 24 hours, nothing before (but DH may have been releasing) and nothing afterwards. I had just gotten off AF so very long cutoff with him (even if I Oed early.)
DS 2 we BD every day or two but then DH changed his mind about TTC that month and we thought we still had enough time to stop. So again, long cutoff (not as long as with DS 1 tho) even if I Oed early. My cycles were quite regular at that point so I doubt I Oed early.
DS 3 I was trying for Shettles cutoff and DH wasn't even at home when I ovulated (I knew a lot more about ovulation then and I am 100% sure I did not ovulate early) so 2 or maybe 3 day cutoff for him after BD every day or two.
DS 4, I honestly cannot say because i wasn't ovulating but was testing CM pH every day and never got any EWCM and never had pH over 4.5. We were TTC but not very hard thinking I wasn't ovulating, so every 2-4 days.

I'm so glad to see that boys can be conceived DTD lots of days in a row as we did just that the week I was O'ing :) Once every 24 hrs. We used lots of pre seed too lol

hobbers when are you testing?
for this pgcy, we bd'd 2wice in one day and then once the following night. for my girls it was everyday thru O for like a week. i REALLY think its more diet related..REALLY REALLY think....rather than timing. just on this thread, there is no consensus.

gizmo, I got a BFP on Saturday. I am trying to be excited, but this timing thing is making me think I ruined my sway. :( I know timing shouldn't matter, but no matter how many times I tell myself that, I will am kicking myself for not DTD on the day of the +opk! Every other cycle, I O'ed either 24hr or sometimes 36hr AFTER my first +opk. I was doing opk's every few hours, so I know when it went positive, and somehow I think I O'ed the same day? We DTD the next morning at 5:30am. But my temp had gone up by then and never went back down. It is possible the high temp was from not sleeping, but I will never know. :(

Don't beat yourself up Hobbers. If it isnt one thing we cant do right it will always be something no matter how hard we try xx

Timing isnt everything and I am proff of this too.
DD1 - concieved without swaying... maybe dtd every 3-4 days. And looking at dates I O'd on the weekend and I always dtd on the weekend when our work schedules were better. I wasnt so keen on getting pregnant that month so didnt push the issue. I was on a very low calorie diet back then and drank diet coke and exercised everyday.
DS- We tried and tried for months. Every dayfrom AF including ovulation day But we couldnt concieve. I changed my diet so I could just get pregnant and stopped exercising. I started chinese medicine and accupunture and used preseed that month and dtd 4 days in a row throughout ovulation.
DD2- I swayed using the A-gender Diet. ( similar to Gender dreaming.) I used Sylk as lube but had been planning on doing 7 days abstinence with a cut off but my DH and I had a fight and he changed his mind for a few days about having a 3rd child. we made up thankfully and I panicked that my ovulation was coming early and I wasnt sure if I'd have DH on board again for a 3rd next month, so after only 5 days abstinence we DTD, then again the next day before I got my +OPK. I had 42 hours cut off , I also did accupunture on O day and I honestly didnt think I'd get pregnant this month. it was our 3rd month trying. But then I got my positive pregnancy test and panicked that I would have a failed sway.
well, 4 ultrasounds later ( because I'm obsessed) I am concinved I am having a baby girl. and if its not, baby has some serious explaining to do, because they are good pictures.
So I believe timing is not everything. I often look at people in the streets and analyse what timing they did when they conceived their daughters or sons. Its crazy.... But I think it makes more sense to look at what people were eating rather that just timing alone. You cant assume that everyone who has Boys DTD on ovulation day, or everyone who has girls did frequent BDing with a cut off or abstinence with a cut off.

Thanks to the "magic" of Fertility Friend -- :) -- I can account for all my babydancing and ovulations.
For DS1, we DTD on cycle days 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15 and 16 -- I ovulated on cycle day 15.
For DS2, we DTD on cycle days 15, 17, 19 and 21 -- I ovulated on cycle day 20. (That was a really weird cycle and I had light bleeding on days 12-14, which made Fertility Friend start a new chart for me ... but I seriously doubt I had an anovulatory cycle of only 11 days, followed by a cycle in which I Oed on day 9, seeing as how the earliest I've ever seen myself ovulate is day 13 and it has been as late as day 20 ... so I can't explain that bleeding, but I stick with my opinion that day 20 was O day.)
Wow, having read about how the different types of frequency affect swaying, geesh, could I have been unintentionally swaying any bluer, esp. for DS2? And even for DS1, we definitely skipped enough days here and there that it was certainly not FR.

Drama, that is pretty close to what a lot of us do when we conceive boys! I talk to a lot of gals on here who tell me, "I know that FR can't work because we DTD every other day and got boys!" Um, that's not FR! :)
I wasn't sure if it was on this thread but I did want to post my "trouble with timing" essay for those who have not seen it - indepth explanation of how timing simply cannot be true. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/7691-trouble-timing.html

hey hobbers congrats!!! exciting news about BFP. i agree with everyone here about timing, even tho i dont know the gender of mine yet. but i am happy to hear that those with boys have dtd's many days in a row. we bd'd 5-6 days in a row for both our girls. and altho atomic and everyone says thats not frequent release enough, thats what i DIDNT want to do, but i ended up doing it like every 3 days except since i had a late ovulation for this pg, i ended up doing it 2wice as soon as i got +OPK (noon and night), and then one more time 24 hrs later (the next day).
i dont know what sperm made it there (from what day) but im glad im finally pg, i couldnt handle being onthat diet anymore. i mean idid like the meat in the morning thing but eating every 2 freaking hrs dude, come on. i barely had time to breathe.
such a girl eater i am.
so i dont think timing is ANYTHING really. your dh seems like his sperm count is normal (since you have 3 kids and you got pg jusyt now) so i dont think timing for you guys is a big deal..good lcuk!

Thanks gizmo! I think I O'ed early, which bums be out because we had planned to DTD 4 times this cycle, and if I O'ed early, we only got in 2 attempts before then. :( I guess it worked to get my pregnant, but I really wanted to "fill the crypts". If I had known I was going to O so early I would have DTD more days in a row than we did.

With both of my boys I didn't track ovulation but we pretty much BD'ed every other day. i think that gave DH higher sperm count!
