View Full Version : Should I forget about this month?

Hi, I had posted a question about timing and BD frequency in another thread and had fantastic responses from everyone, especially the wise atomic! So I thought I had this cycle attempt all worked out......oh how I was wrong!

Now I have a dilemma. I always ovulate CD 14 and use many factors to determine ovulation with one being a saliva microscope. However, I dropped it on the bathroom floor and cracked it before I could see any ferns. So we had abstained and BD once on CD 12 thinking that should be ok. However, on CD 14 my usual other ovulation symptoms didn't arrive (I always have severe pain in the hours before ovulation, CM changes afterwards to creamy etc). I thought that was strange and now on CD 16 I am currently having my "usual" severe ovulation pain....there is no mistaking the pain, it is the same familiar one I get every month except it is on the right whereas I normally get it on the left.

So, if anyone happens to read this in the next 12hrs, should I BD again and try for o+12 after only a 4 day abstinence OR just leave it at one BD 4 days from ovulation? DH and I are both 40 so I'm sure there is no chnace of conceiving 4 days out from ovulation.

I am happy to forget about this cycle and try again next cycle, however if anyone thinks there may still be a chance of swaying girl I would be happy to know!

Thanks in advance! I really think I should start temping then I wouldn't have had all this confusion...lol!

I wouldn't BD after a 4 day abstain as this is optimal for a boy. You could have DH release a couple of times and DTD on his third release or something along those lines, if he's up for that!

Why not wait until you get your O signs before having your attempt next month? Saves a lot of hassle!

Thanks so much zanacal, I knew deep down that I should not have another attempt, but I was still hopeful....lol!

Oh well, as everyone says "there is always next month".

You are so right zanacal, I will wait for ovulation signs from now on and am just going to BD during O signs after abstinence rather than try the cut-off which has proven rather difficult for me! I know after all my research on this site that if you are doing all the other factors that timing is less significant yet you see so much debate on it you can't help getting caught up in it yourself....haha!

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge zanacal, it is really appreciated!

Justine.

have you read this thread yet? It may help you come up with other options.

http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/5636-frequency-bd-pink-blue.html and also this one http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-girl-best-practices/2728-abstaining-frequent-release-mixing-cutoff-o-12-a.html

I really don't love abstain for older couples. It may reduce odds too far and has also been linked to a slightly increased risk of birth defects.

You do have another option, you can have your husband switch to compressed frequent release (instructions are in those two links) and then have an attempt NOT at O+12 (chances of pg will be very slim) but sooner than that.

Timing is not just less significant, it is insignificant!!!http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/7691-trouble-timing.html

Oh and one more thing, i think at 40 years of age, you can never forget about any month. Not trying to scare you but you never know when you will reach the last fresh egg in the carton and I don't want to see anyone 38+ throw away any month because you need to get pg as quickly as possible.

Hey atomic, thankyou for taking the time to add that info for me! Lol......I had to laugh at the "last fresh egg in the carton" quote......it's so true but also nice to be able to see the lighter side of this sometimes stressful swaying business!

I have looked closely at all your links before I began my pink sway journey, however whilst I think I have the diet and supplements etc figured out to some degree, the whole BD frequency (or lack of) still puts a spanner in my works and that spanner goes under the name of 3DS's under 5....haha!!

If you were me and had no time alone with DH except at night (due to no family around to babysit for secret BD'ing) and still had a little one waking in the night so BD'ing opportunites were limited, what type of frequency would you suggest to sway pink? Also considering our ages of 40.

Thankyou again for taking the time to reply to my thread everyone.

Justine.

I AM you LOL! ;) Only TWO of mine still wake up at night. o.O

I would do whatever works. Don't skip a month because of frequency, just do it when you can and how you can.

YOu have the possibility of having Dh help himself in the morning shower and then using second batch for insemination that evening (compressed frequent release)- numbers and amount of semen will be down somewhat and swaying pink for you, but swimmers will be fresh and ready to go!
