Help! I can tell almost anyone's except mine!

So my last ultrasound (roughly 17 weeks) was done by an ultrasound tech that seemed like she was really in a rush. She said boy, but I don't really feel like I have closure with that because I couldn't see a darn thing she was moving so fast. She gave me one scrambled egg looking printout that said boy with no arrows or circles or even telling me what body parts are in the shot. So I went back to my 12 week scan and I can't tell. Sometimes it looks like a girl and sometimes it looks like a boy. I am so confused. It might be petty to hope for a girl but between my son and stepkids I have raised 4 boys already! Help, what do you guys think?4151341512

In many 12 weeks' scan boys can look like girls. Do you have the other shot from 17 weeks, we may be able to decipher what's on there.

This is what I have. Near as I can tell, there looks to be a lump but it also kind of looks like an M instead of a turtle. I don't know haha

The techs see a lot more in the scans than we do, so I would operate under the assumption it's boy. I'm sorry I wish I could see something that would let me say differently but I'm just not seeing anything clear here. Congratulations!

If that's the picture she is using to determine boy, I would get another ultrasound even if you have to pay for a private one. It could very well be a boy as atomic says but that picture is not necessarily a boy picture. To me it looks like bladder and what is probably where the cord is inserting. Some offices let nurses or doctors do ultrasounds with minimal, if any, training, so from that picture I think it's actually reasonable to have doubts although I would hate to give you false hope, I would never take that picture and label it boy, personally. (I work at a major hospital where we work with the ob/gyn residents. They spend a few hours a day with us, for a month, and that's about as much training as many ob's get. In contrast, as a sonographer, I spent almost 2 years in school/clinicals on only ultrasound. )

ETA: The bladder is the black spot in the middle of the baby. Generally if you can see the bladder, it's not the correct level for genitals.

Thanks 2blue1pink, I wondered about it too. I can accept that it might be a boy, but I have seen cord in the way ultrasounds and I have seen mistakes from people who were concentrating so. I think I just have to wait until next week to be sure. Thank you so much, I am glad I am not a crazy person with these pictures!
