View Full Version : Surprise BFP... before starting the sway[emoji28]

Hi!
I have 2 boys (3, 1) and we were planning to sway next year for our last baby.

My DH had low motility, so DS1 is from IUI, but DS2 came naturally at first month of trying. Given our situation we aren't currently using any form of BC, but honestly... these 2 are contraceptives themselves [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Thing is, I breastfeed my 19 month little one, and my period isn't regular yet. I can tell when I ovulate because I usually get lots of symptoms. We dtd once last month and I wasn't feeling at all like fertile. But have to say I did feel like it a couple of days later...But thought: no way! They'll be all dead.
So... went on holiday, felt very upset and ate awfully; came back and had period pain and I was sure that was all to do with pmt. Surprise, AF not here yet and I'm getting very faint BFP, 2 weeks after dtd.

I'm shocked. I wanted to try my best to away as this would be our last baby. I've been eating terrible, my diet is usually boy friendly. What makes me a bit more hopeful is: DH is a mountain biker since having DS1, and has been increasing his workouts a lot. Now he wears tight undies and he wasn't taking any supplements or vit like with the other 2. I am breastfeeding a lot more with DS2 than I did with DS1 and it was one attempt(have to ask dh if he played on his own) I would say like 2-3 days prior to ovulation. Also I've felt quite stressed at work and with the kids around that week and had anaemia, and I was forgetting to take the iron most of days. Not on prenatals either.

I know chances are about 50-50... but as I have 2 boys I feel very insecure.

What do you think? Any similar case?

Thanks for reading [emoji7]

Congratulations! I guess everything happens for a reason ...

What was your diet like at the time? I was very late once and I remember thinking “oh no it’s Christmas and I was over eating and eating all the time!!”

You always have a chance at a girl! And several of the things you were doing are girl friendly! Good luck and pink dust!!

Thank you!! I did a cb digital and it said 1-2 weeks last Thursday, so baby dance was at least 3 days prior I would say. I know timing is not any guarantee, but it's different to my other two.

I'm going for a scan next week to make sure everything is fine. I plan to go team green but DH wants to find out and he thinks that if it's another boy I'll have pp depression. I think I'll be happy anyway, although I do have that feeling of last chance for girl... hormones going crazy already. No symptoms at all apart from being like PMT all the time. I was more friendly in my other 2 [emoji1787]

Hello!!
I'm 9 Weeks, so no clue yet. If I had to say by intuition... i think it's a girl. But who knows [emoji28] I'll be having the NIPT done in two weeks, so we'll find it out in the end. I think team green would be risky with me, and being practical, I need to know what to do with all the baby stuff, especially clothes. I'll keep you updated!!

Thank you all! I had the NIPT test done today, so in hopefully less than 2 weeks i'll get my results back. Hopefully everything will be fine and it's a healthy baby. I had an appointment with my obgyn yesterday and she did an ultrasound where we could see the baby dancing:bluecheer: she said that it didn't look boyish at all (i saw the nub and it was pointing down - i pointed it and she agreed, but we both said it was too early yet to say, as i'm near 11 weeks).

After seeing the baby is developing fine, i'm happy. If it's a girl it would be great, but if it's another another boy i'll be completly fine with it. I just want a healthy baby:boybear2:

I'll update with the news i get! FX!

Yes it's too early to tell gender (and honestly, she shouldn't have given an opinion either way, yikes, that makes me nervous - you really can't see anything boyish at that point anyway!)

I love your attitude - healthy baby is what matter!

Hi everyone!

Today we had our NT scan. Baby is healthy and we are very thankful for that, but the "dream" has started to fade... the obgyn even started saying...oh! 2 boys... so we hope this is a girl, yeah? - trying to be friendly. So she started to do the scan and there was no news of gender clues. At a point she was talking about the umbilical cord and i could see the two legs... and a penis! I was hoping it was something else... but when she finished she said "everything looks ok", "it all was very clear". Then is when i said... "a penis right?" and she said.. well i haven't got good news, but yes, it's a boy. She had no doubt at all. I even asked her when we sat down: "so, no chance it's something else?" and she said that it was clearly a boy.
I'm still waiting for the NIPT results, but that scan was so similar to my DS2 potty shot, that "3rd leg" sticking up, that i'm not keeping my hopes up anymore.
I guess i'm meant to be a boys mummy and get all the pretty dresses all for me:ballerina:. Even DH joked about having a 4th, but i said no way.

Thank you all for the support.

Aw Lu, I'm so sorry to hear it didn't go as we hoped, but huge congrats on your new son. I wish you every joy.

Did you get a potty shot or is this based on the picture you posted in the other forum?? Beause potty shot would be too early (I did not realize you were only 12 4) and I did not find those pics to be definitive either way.

Was what the doc said based on a potty shot at 12+4???
