No not always true! It could be blue or pink 😊 do you have any 12 week scan pics. I know ramzi isn't accurate but according to your early scan if ramzi is true would be a girl i remember i meant to mesg you!! xox

Thank you Nell. I hope so.
My 13w scan pics were not clear. I had uploaded but didn't get any clue. And the 23w pics are not getting uploaded here lol...
I hope baby measuring ahead doesn't mean anything..

Mine is measuring a week ahead and I’m having a girl. I don’t think measuring ahead means anything in particularly, might just be having a bigger baby. Also my midwife said that the measurement is just a general idea. I think 2 weeks ahead is quite normal.

Honestly, if you're sure about when you ovulated, the most likely explanation is that the tech made a mistake. While measurements early on can tell how developed a baby is, by mid-pregnancy babies are mostly formed and then individual variations in size of the baby (determined by genetic variation and the health of the placenta) start to play a bigger role. But we have seen i-don't-even-know-how-many cases where the tech tells someone the baby is ahead or behind and they come right on time weighing a perfectly normal amount.

A big baby does not mean your baby is a boy. My daughter was the second biggest of my five, weighing nearly a pound more than my smallest baby (a boy.)

Thank you for reply atomic. I did e4d(didn't do opk) so not sure when I ovulated. It can be 1 or 2 days up and down but I am sure not 2 weeks late. The tech did the scan twice after the gap of 1/2 an hour and said the same so don't know...

So, if the baby is measuring ahead will my dates change? Am I gonna have a early labour? Also I am 23w today and baby measuring 25w. So am I actually 23w pregnant or 25w?? Clear the confusion ladies..

My midwife doesn’t even start measuring until 28 weeks as she says it’s too inaccurate until then. I think your due date will stay the same as the measurement at 12 week scan is more accurate for dating as they are all about the same size then. It’s later that they start to vary in size due to genetic differences ie height/build

We can't tell you that. If your baby has been measuring on time up till now, the most likely explanation is that the tech made a mistake in the measurements or your baby just had a growth spurt or you have a nice healthy placenta helping them grow. There is just no way for anyone to know that now.

If you had your period and you know you weren't pregnant then there's no reason to suspect your baby will not arrive right when it's supposed to.

:agree: :agree: :agree: in early pregnancy the measurements are much much more reliable since they're going off of the development of organs and stuff. Later in pregnancy there is just so much deviation based on genetics and whether or not the placenta is working as well as it should (one of the main reasons for thinking babies are "younger" than they are is a wonky placenta) Since your baby is on the larger side it's probably just a bigger kiddo.

Eh, the techs aren't very likely to change their opinion once they've made up their minds.

^^ and if you're sure when you ovulated, then there is NO reason to change your due date based on one scan!

This is helpful. At 13w NT scan baby was measuring 3 days ahead. Maybe the tech made a mistake lol..

I am sure I ovulated somewhere between 18-22/4.. Is it ok to measure 2w ahead or tell my gynec to recommend another scan just to clear the confusion just in case if the tech has made a mistake... What's your opinion atomic..

Doctors do not like to put your baby through extra unnecessary scans (nor charge people/insurers for them) for no good reason. There is literally no reason to have another scan and I would not have another one. While we believe ultrasounds are safe, most doctors prefer to err on the side of having the minimum amount required to ensure baby/mama's health. A small variance in due dates is NOT a requirement for a healthy baby/mama. Your doc will have lots of clues about whether or not you're getting close to delivery and for all you know you may end up needing another scan later and can clarify.

Not to mention if your baby is just on the larger side for whatever reason, it wouldn't tell you anything anyway!

Oh yes this is so true - we have had gobs of IVF people who knew full and well the literal hour of their conception who ended up arguing with techs telling them they were further along or not as far as they were! I've seen that happen like a hundred times if not more.

Thank you atomic. Had my appointment today. Ob didn't recommend another scan. She said babies measure ahead if you have gestational diabetes (which I have now)
Also she didn't change my due date..
