Hi Atomic

Helping my cousin ttc girl. She's 40 in May and DH will be 47. My cousin suffers from PCOS and it took them 5 years to conceive DS. My cousin does say that she felt it was the metformin that helped her get pregnant with DS.

DS is now 5 and they would like to ttc girl but my cousin is afraid her age + DH age and the fact she has PCOS may be an issue.

Both my cousin and her DH are vegetarians now, no carbs and are planning to exercise. She will be continue taking metformin. Is there anything in addition for someone with their profile should consider/change? Should DH FR?

Thank you

I generally don't recommend vegetarian diet for people with PCOS but if she's being super careful not to eat a lot of carbs then it's ok.

:agree: metformin, did they not put her on Clomid or Femara after trying for 5 years?? If not, she should get them. It's completely medically indicated.

I would not have her husband do FR. I'd have him do regular release every 2-4 days and then start off with one attempt at positive OPK, do tht for 2 months, then go to every 4 day method (in the 72 hour pattern) after that.

Thanks Atomic. Yes no carbs and very plant based. She was not on clomid or femara. The only thing that helped her conceive with metformin, in fact she got pregnant that very cycle she used it. If on metformin are the opk positives truly positive ? I've heard with PCOS it can give you false positive opk.

I would suggest her trying to get Clomid or Femara.

Metformin doesn't cause false positive OPK but PCOS does. If she's not getting good results with OPK she can do the every 4 day method instead of one attept.
