View Full Version : Second try - swaying for a boy after 3 girls

Hi everyone! :bluecheer:
I'm new here, but I have been reading a lot in here for the last couple of months. I'm currently 1 or 2 dpo, this was my second try swaying for a boy. Been on the boy diet since August (I started reading about it on Ingender, but then I adjusted it after reading some stuff in here, didn't avoid milk for example, have been eating the full fat one with my cereals in the morning).
I'm really tired of this diet now, potatoes, bananas, tomatoes and meat coming out of my ears soon lol.. I usually eat vegetarian food, very little milk products, never ate breakfast before this (or maybe a smoothie once in a while) so it has been a big change for me:omg:
I have three daughters already, and a baby brother would be lovely (but another girl will be fine as well ofc):pregnant: With my last two girls I only had sex at the day of ovulation (I had heard it swayed boy) but well, no boy for me (didn't have sex for over a week until O-day, and confirmed O with opk+temp):bluesperm:
This time I decided to try to dtd a little bit more often lol.. We dtd at day 9, 12,13 and 14 and I most likely ovulated at day 14 in the evening or in the night towards day 15 (had a solid smiley on clearblue advanced at cd 13 in the morning). Hopefully we have a good chance at conceiving this month!!
Don't know what I wan't with this post, just me babblin' and waiting for the days to pass - this 2ww is awful! :nails:
.. And sorry for my english, I live in scandinavia.

Hi and welcome. Sounds like you have changed a lot.😊 i would say its a great sway. How old are your girls?
Wishing you good luck and blue dust. 💙

Lailanela: Thank you so much!! I've really put my heart and soul into this sway, it will be interesting to see the outcome:fingers:
My girls are 5, 3 and 2 years old, they are my world! :3kids: But I actually had gender disappointment with dd2 and dd3 - went away as soon as I had them in my arms luckily.
Thank you again for your support :HH:

Hi Sofieelises!
Your attempts\ diet changes look great :) fx it gives you a BFP this month, and even better, your boy ;)
I have three girls too, and will ttc later this year .. we’ve got similar age gaps as you ( 6.5/4 and almost 2).. and also had gender disappointment with my last two, esp dd3 ( had done this Blue Sway)..
I’ll be keen to see your results!
It’s funny, We live in Australia but am Danish ( grew up in France though lol).
If you have any questions , feel free..there’s a good chance I’ve researched it already lol

I think you're on target for a great blue sway!
If you're dying on the diet please remember you don't have to stuff yourself with the potassium foods. Potatoes, tomatoes, and especially, especially bananas are NOT magic boy making foods. My daughter is like 30% potato! So feel free to dial it back on those things because bananas especially are just empty cals that don't even have much potassium in them. If you're having meat and smoothies and cereal the odds are sky high you're getting all the potassium required by the mineral diet already!

Hi and thank you for replying! :running:
Tell me everything about your failed sway, did you follow a diet, supplements, timing etc? I don't believe in swaying really (I believe in coincidence) but what the heck, I'm giving it a try anyway.. ;)
Oh that's so cool, I live in Sweden and I looooove Denmark and the language - I had a boyfriend who came from Denmark a couple of years ago. Danish is pretty similar to swedish (well, if you read it anyway ;)).
How is Australia, are you safe from the fires?? My best friend lives in Melbourne actually.. She sent me some pictures the other day (don't know if it was Melbourne or somewhere else) but it was smoke all over the town. Terryfying.
I will keep you updated - 6 dpo today!!

OMG this was exactly what I needed to hear today!! Thank you atomic, I will throw those bananas out the window instantly, they are the worst..... (Guess I'm still very "coloured" from IG, been on that site for over two years :worry: ).

Hey I totally get it, it's very hard to give up on some of that stuff!! (most of us on here, at least to start with, had opposites on IG so it was easy for us to move past it!) But the bananas are not even very good sources of potassium! Just like eating a bunch of sugar and starch for a very small amount of potassium which you're already getting elsewhere!

I took two different pregnancy tests yesterday - both turned out really faint positive (clearblue plus and a test from a cheaper brand). This morning, faint positive again on cb but not really darker then yesterday. I mean, if you weren't a test addict like me I don't know if you would even be able to see it... :nails: But I've seen sooo many blank tests in my life I swear it was something on those tests.
I thought I was 9 dpo yesterday and 10 dpo today but now I'm starting to wonder if I've gotten it all wrong, maybe I am only 9 dpo today and that's why my tests are so faint (I've had a lot of MC and chemicals and those lines never did get stronger but with my girls I had strong positives at 10 dpo).
On cd 13 in the morning I had a solid smiley at clearblue advanced opk. The instructions says ovulation will occour within 36 hours (cd 14 in the evening for me).
My cheap opk's (strips) were not positive until the evening on cd 13, at 7 pm (almost 12 hours after cb was positive)
On cd 14 my lh-level peaked at 2 pm - the test line on my opk was shining bright by then lol.
On cd 15 I had ewcm in the morning and my opk was negative again (in the afternoon). My temperature raised on cd 16.
Sooo - I assumed I ovulated at cd 14 in the evening (since the cb advanced was positive in the morning on cd 13) but maybe I should assume it was rather cd 15???
I'm sorry for my confused text ladies, but since I had sooo faint positive tests both yesterday and today it would just make me feel a little bit better if I calculated the timing of my O wrong - even if it's just for a day.
I guess this babymaking is really making me go nuts lol...... :ttc:

Never mind, just started bleeding (cd 23, shortest cycle ever. I'm so confused).
Hopefully I will get pregnant next cycle:think:

Keep testing. You can be pregnant and have bleeding and it's actually surprisingly common.

I thought my period came yesterday but it was a very short light bleeding, nothing in the afternoon/evening and nothing today. Today I took another pregnancy test and I think it is a faint positive (not FMU). You will probably not be able to see it because it is so hard to make it justice with my camera (maybe I'm just having line eyes lol). I think I am 10 or maybe 11 dpo today. Will test again tomorrow.

I actually can see it! How sure are you about when you ovulated? You can't tell when you ovulated on the basis of when OPK go negative. That's a pretty light test and I'm hoping you Oed later than you think (since your temp didn't rise till CD 16 I'm thinking CD 15) which would explain the light test and the bleedng might have been implantation related.

I had ewcm on saturday (cd 15) and my temp rised at cd 16 - hopefully I ovulated at cd 15 (in that case I am 10 dpo today). :fx:

Had another faint line yesterday evening and I just knew it wouldn't be a sticker this time. This morning my temperature dropped and AF came. I guess it was a chemical.
Well, I have to start all over again.. :tissue:

Cd 4 after what I think was a chemical. Here we go again! :ttc:
For breakfast I'm having cereals with full fat milk (I don't avoid calcium, because with my girls I used to drink almond or soyamilk all the time) and a glass of orange or grapefruitjuice plus a glass of lemon water. I drink a lot of lemon water during the day.
I drink 2 smoothies a day with mostly green stuff in it like spinach, avokado, celery, lime and cucumber but also bananas, apples or watermelon. I try to eat a lot of fruit and vegetables.
I'm eating meat for lunch, dinner and sometimes supper (a lot of bacon, let me tell you that) and a lot of potatoes, tomatoes and bread. I'm trying to gain a some weigth (I'm 5 feet 8 inches 127 pounds, always been skinny even if I eat a lot and lift heavy) since gaining some sways boy. I only do weight training (I've done that for over 10 years) and no cardio. I'm trying to avioid caffein (was the biggest coffedrinker when I conceived my girls, and I still drink some once in a while) and sugar (I usually looooove my candy)
The hardest part for me is actually to eat meat, I don't like it and I was a vegetarian for almost 7 years (conceived all my girls during that period). And of course I take my folic acid! I've also read something about a baking soda drink, but is it really safe to drink...? And does it sway boy? Does anyone in here know?
Well enough said, I really really hope to conceive this month:crawl:

Bacon is not helpful for a blue sway. It's just salt and fat with very few nutrients plus it has the nitrites in it that may not be good for your health. I would much rather see you eat actual meat and drop bacon entirely.
Just do your best on the meat. As long as you're eating more than you were, that's what matters. Even if you can't get up to the large amounts of meat some of us with all boys have eaten, the important thing is what YOU are doing. If you were eating no meat, and are now eating some, that still sways blue for you!
I don't recommend the baking soda drink. I think it is harmful and doesn't work, plus it will fill your stomach for foods that have nutrients in them.
Are you also taking prenatal vitamin in addition to the folic acid??

Oh noo I thought that maybe bacon was ok and swayed blue, it's actually the only meat I don't hate (but I know it's bad for your health so I could have figured it out, lol)... But it won't be a problem to cut it out of my diet, thanks for the advice atomic!!! I really really appreciate all of your advices!!
I eat a lot of "real" red meat as well but it's not very pleasant  But I really want to do my best and do the opposite of when I conceived my girl so I will stick to it anyway.
I also take prenatal vitamins! (And omega3, is that ok when you sway blue?) :nails:
No baking soda drink for me then, It sounded awful but I was willing to try it lol.... :twins:

I'd rather see you fully vegetarian than loading up on bacon. It's more than just that it's unhealthy, you have to "spend" calories on it you'd be better off eating more nutritious things, and it has Omega 6 fat in it that may sway pink.
Yes prenatals and Omega 3 are good. Glad to hear that.

Attempt #3
I'm currently 1 dpo. Still on the boy diet (almost 6 months of it). Unfortunatly no weight gain, it's really hard for me to gain some.
Anyway, dtd cd 10, 12 and 15 (early in the morning). Had a positive opk at lunch cd 14 and I believe I ovulated in the afternoon on cd 15. No EWCM this cycle?! Just watery cm - really really watery (sorry tmi).
Pray for a bfp this month <3

I am pregnant!!!
I did get my bfp at 8 dpo, it was a faint but pink line. At 9 dpo it was not even a squinter anymore and today I confirmed with a digital. I am over the moon!! :running::LotsofLove:
At the same time I am worried to have another MC, I had a chemical last month and through the years I think I've had 4 MC's (with kids inbetween). Hopefully this is a sticker :fx:
I really did my best with the sway, and even if it's another girl I think I will feel just as blessed.

I'm still a little bit in shock, can't believe I did get my bfp at 8 dpo and it wasn't even my fmu.. At 10 dpo I did confirm with a digital (said 1-2 weeks) and at 13 dpo I already had “2-3 weeks".
I guess the hcg levels could vary from pregnancy to pregnancy? With my three girls I had completely blank tests until 10 dpo (I do temp and take opk's) and it took a while to get that "2-3 weeks" at a digital.
I will keep you all updated :pregnant:

Yes the HCG levels can vary wildly from pregnancy to pregnancy! It's not at all unusual to have positive tests sooner in some pregnancies and later in others. :)
Sofieelises
February 18th, 2020, 05:38 AM
I did get "pregnant 3+"today at clearblue digital, 4 weeks 5 days. Didn't expect to get it so soon. My hcg levels seems so much higher this pregnancy than previous, but maybe thats just because my egg attached early this time :pregnant:
I have a god feeling this is a sticker because I feel so much nausea already! With my MC's I didn't.

It is how much HCG happened to be in your system when you conceived. Women can have anything from 0-5 HCG and then this doubles so one pregnancy can start off at 0 and then go like this:
0
1
2
4
8
16
and then another could start off at 5 and progress like this:
5
10
20
40
80
160
Two pregnancies (even in the same woman) could have as much as 10x different HCG levels on the same day of the development. So it's entirely possible for one normally developing pregnancy to have much higher HCG levels even if they implanted the same day.
