I had a dating scan yesterday and measured 6w1d. This is a vaginal scan.
Any guesses would be appreciated! I have no idea which plane the scan is in. i think a transverse plane is needed. :?
Could somebody also help me understand the theory in relation to my u/s? Someone told me it looks 'boyish', but the baby is on the right side in the photo. Which means, from real life perspective (since this is a photo), wont the baby actually be on my left side, meaning girl?
I SOOOO badly want a boy!

I think it's girl if it is on the left side of your uterus.

I think only a tech can tell you on which side the placenta is forming, so please donīt feel defeated cause it looks like a girl being on the left of your uterus. And opposites happen too. It may very well be a boy!
Now not being an expert, on the scan there is this area that is more white on the left/upper side of the uterus, my non-expert guess is that thatīs where the placenta might be forming, so to the right of the embryo-boy. Good luck!

i was wondering if it is possible to guess looking at the pic if this is the transverse or the sagittal view? coz i understand guesses are just shooting arrows in the dark if the view is not transverse. i am going to drive myself crazy.

Can't guess from the picture. Sorry. Ramzi theory is best applied when you do it during the live ultrasound and the tech actually knows what to look for, i.e. true transverse section of your uterus. Sometimes they need to add coloring to see the flow of blood to see where the placenta orginiated from. Don't worry, this theory does not mean girl = left, or boy = left, where the baby is is not the key but where the placenta started from, i.e. left or right side.

ITA with Auroara in terms of the actual ability to use the theory accurately ... but I do also agree with Indira, in *most* scans the whiter area is where the blood is flowing, which indicates the side the placenta is forming, and yours appears to be forming on the right side (left side of photo) which would, according to Ramzi, mean boy. But I wouldn't get hopes up; it really is way to tricky of a theory to use on scan photos so I'd take it as a "just for fun" type of thing :)

if this was a vaginal scan why would the picture be any different to what we see on the screen, isnt the yolk sac on the right indicating boy ??

i have seen by many sonographers words now that the image on a vaginal scan needs to be flipped the other way as we see it on the screen, im confused lol !

Both abdominal and vaginal scan images need to be flipped from what I have read.
