View Full Version : Back here trying for a girl after 2 boys

I was on here years ago trying for a girl. Didn't get my baby girl, but I do have two precious boys...ages 5 (almost 6) and 7.

In terms of a pink sway, my second should have been a girl on most accounts. I was severely dieting to loose baby weight and working out 1-2 hours a day. I was on adderall. DH and I were on vacation in Tahoe and spending lots of time outdoors in August. And (although I know timing has been debunked), he was conceived about 3-4 days before ovulation from only one incident of unprotected sex. I do not have high testosterone or low estrogen. Also, I dislike meat (especially red meat) and eat almost no meat. I don't really like milk either, so was trying to do calcium supps at the time. I have always drank a lot of diet Dr. Pepper.

The only thing that I can think worked against me was my husband had a super high sperm count. (We know this because we did Clomid/iui for our first and his sperm count was 880 million prewash [emoji15]....they put back in almost 200 million after wash.) It is 7+ years later so I don't know what his sperm count is now so it may be that it is not as high as it used to be. He is 45 and currently on testosterone for low T. However, in men, supplementing testosterone decreases sperm count so there is no reason for me to make him stop supplementing and it definitely helps his sex drive.

I have thought about doing ivf but due to very low afc, ultra low amh, and age, I am not a good candidate and I hate to go through all of that and spend the money and end up with nothing. (My last AFC was 2.) I have also considered doing sperm spinning iui, but the clinic that does it here in Houston said they only have about a 55 percent success rate for getting the appropriate gender...which, if that is the case, it seems less reliable than the stats I have seen on here!

What would you do for a sway? I am dieting heavily and doing lots of cardio and trying to up my milk product intake. I typically don't eat from about 8 am to 2 pm. I naturally drink a good deal of diet Dr pepper... caffeine and artificial sweeetner.

This month, we tried a cut off but I ended up ovulating later than normal and so basically our only sex was 5 days before ovulation. [emoji1751] (We were on vacation and I didn't bring my opk's and was trying to just go on my months of charting and having EWCM... I have been consistently ovulating on CD13 or 14 for the last year and all of the sudden I ovulated on CD 16. ) But next month I plan to do the opk's and DTD 1 time in the fertile window after positive opk. I am also on an antidepressant and adderall which should sway pink.

I also take deplin (which is pre-methylated folate) because my body does not properly methylate folate/folic acid on its own. (I found this out through dna testing.) But regardless of how that sways, I can't really stop taking it because that could cause any baby I conceived to have spina bifida or a similar defect.

I also have been taking CoQ10 and baby aspirin. CoQ10 is supposed to help with egg quality. (I am 39.) Baby aspirin is because I had pre-e with my first. Any idea if these sway? I could stop the CoQ10 but would be hesitant to stop the Baby Aspirin.

Any input? Any other ideas?

I am leary of doing anything that would too badly impaired fertility given my advanced age, hubs age and the fact that I already know I have low afc/low amh/high FSH.

Oh, and the maternal dominance theory might hold somewhat true for me.

I worked in a field that was 98 percent male dominated and definitely very "controlling." I worked in business litigation. In fact, at my firm, over a 40 year period, every single baby born to someone who worked at the firm was a male baby. I am talking approximately 2 dozen babies. All boys. Even the only other female attorney there had two boys...as did I. (And she is super thin and petite.)

Fortunately, I now am a stay-at-home Mom so hopefully all that testosterone around the office won't sway this time.

Even under the best case scenario (meaning including Clomid) we get girls about 75% of the time max. So while I understand the temptation to think "this baby should have been a girl" the truth is, for all you know you had a great chance of a girl and then the cards didn't fall your way. Swaying's not a guarantee (if it was, the human race would have died out a long time ago) and so we can never be too sure when a sway produces an opposite, if it was something amiss in the sway itself, or if it just fell into the "luck" category.

We are really having great results the last couple of years. Swaying is no guarantee but I do feel very good about the amount I'm able to help people nowadays. By getting rid of what hasn't worked to focus on what has, we are having better results and this is true even in women who have a sway opposite already.

One thing I would change is the Diet Dr. P in excess. I have speculated if high intake of diet drinks may possibly sway blue for some people and I go into all that here: https://www.genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/44710-hypothetical-aspartame-thread.html

The issue with your O Date moving plagues people using timing regularly. It never seems to fail that your O Day moves the month you conceive. Keep that in mind when looking at timing stats - most of the people who claim to have used timing have no clue when they actually ovulated. Scientists using modern technology have debunked timing beyond a shadow of a doubt and you can read about that here: https://www.genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/7691-trouble-timing.html

100% absolutely continue taking the folate. I have everyone take folate or folic acid as needed and we don't care if it sways pink, blue, or plaid, LOL

I would have you on my "atomic fertility diet" which is much better both for your sway and for egg quality and you can find that here, 5 from the top: https://www.genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/9052-swaying-under-special-circumstances-part-3-pcos.html

Coq10 is fine, 200-400 mg a day, somewhere in there. At BFP please gradually wean off by spacing doses further and further out till down to one per week, then you can drop it.

While I don't have people take aspirin for swaying any more, for some people it is still medically indicated and with history of pre-e and the need for pre-methylated folate you are absolutely in that category. Please check with your doc about when to come off aspirin, but PLEASE be sure to wean off it when you do. Doctors are not having people wean off aspirin, which means your blood can go from very thin to thick right away (since your body over time starts releasing more clotting factors, since the aspirin is a blood thinner) and this can cause clots that could be fatal for you or for the baby. Even when the docs say you don't need to, please err on the side of caution and give yourself time to wean off.

Will you be doing exercise this time?

I do definitely get a blue vibe from your posts, thanks for telling me about your experience at your law firm! Even in studies women in industries like the law have way more sons. It's a chicken-egg thing, but I think being at home now will only help your sway.
