:D Hello all,
My name is Butterfly. No not really, but that's what you can call me! :)
I am 30 years old.
I currently have two little princes:diaper::diaper: that were conceived with the cold hard Shettles Method.
So I do believe it works. I just want a little girl to complete our family. :princess: My husband and I have been married for 4 yrs this V-day.
I really was excited to find this forum early this morning!!!! I had no idea there was anything like it on the web. I totally believe in gender selection, and I want it to happen!
I know I need to use a sway method because I believe my hubby has a VERY high testosterone level. He lost all his hair at an early age. :superhero:
I am SO excited to learn about Sylk, and the many supplements such as calcium, magnesium, cranberry, and any others you all recommend. I don't know if I'm strong enough for the full blown diet since I LOVE COKE, chocolate, fruits, cottage cheese, applesauce, sweet peas, cheeses, veggies, milk, sweet yogurts, sour cream, thousand island dressing, frysauce, ketchup, and well SALT!
Am I in trouble yet? LOL
Anyways, I'd love to learn anyway. I'm currently still breastfeeding my youngest who is going to be two in a matter of a few days. I'm trying to wean him, because that makes getting pregnant a battle in itself. I'm pretty nervous to actively conceive now though because Shettles says most boys are conceived in Winter months..but does that make any sense when you have the heater going in Winter and the AC blaring in the Summer?
I also read a bit on the O+12 method. I'm not sure that's for me either because I have O pain for a couple days before I ovulate and I'm afraid I would miss that window of opportunity.
I'm going to stop my rambling right now and get RIGHT TO IT! Ladies, I'm excited to be here, what do I need to buy right away? I'm going to get Sylk..
Now teach me, tell me anything right now I am an eager student!
Supplements and Soy Isoflavones, Diet, Douches, etc.. Give it to me!
PS I have hypothyroidism, maybe that would make it harder to sway? I'm not sure.

Welcome, Butterfly!
this is a good place to start: http://genderdreaming.com/forum/thread1585.html for designing your sway. There is no "ideal" sway as it does vary so much on the couple and you have to go for what you'll find easiest/less stressful
regarding timing, DTD at OV time probably doesn't sway pink or blue, it seems more likely that due to diet and perhaps your DH's high testosterone levels you conceived your boys as those things are proven to sway and timing isn't... here's an interesting topic: http://genderdreaming.com/forum/thread7691.html
I always say that there's no harm in trying the timing when swaying blue (DTD at OV), but when swaying pink it could drastically reduce your chances of getting pregnant at all if you do a cut off and studies don't point to any evidence that it sways pink at all.
diet, then low sperm count, seem to be the strongest swaying factors
good luck with planning your sway, feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Thank you for the welcome ladies and Rainbowflower for the advice!
I agree with the timing. I'm learning a ton right now and it seems like timing does make it VERY hard to conceive a girl esp when Shettles says that sperm rarely live longer than 3 days! What a gamble.
My first son was conceived in a freezing cold basement, in the Winter, with many BD and deep BD positions and many orgasms. With my regular not healthy diet! I actually don't even know when I Oed back then.
My second little man was conceived with the trying for a girl method and BD like 3 days before O, but we miscalculated ovulation and thought we were in the clear and accidentally BDed either the day of O or right after O. DH also gave the sperm a jolt by drinking Coke. (If you ladies didn't know that part, it's true! LOL) I jumped and dumped and rinsed off even soaped up but it was no use lol he apparently masturbated earlier that day too, so it was probably mostly Y sperm!
So many things besides timing can play a role so I totally believe you! :)
I am so very thankful to have found you all, and It is my hope that we ALL see PINK this year of 2012!

thanks for sharing your experiences! my DS was conceived in a similar way to your DS1 - had no idea about swaying back then just wanted to get pregnant FAST! lol
if your DH had already released that day, that would actually have lowered his sperm count quite a bit (potentially by around 50%, if you DTD within 8hrs)... he might need to release and discard twice a day before each attempt if his T levels are that high! Zanacal had a similar experience with her DH
are you TTC already? when do you plan to start if not?

Oh that is so funny! Those male spermies LOVE the cold! :)
I think that we were in that 8 hr window you are talking about.
I found a REALLY good sway plan that was successful
Her plan included abstinence so I'm not sure if it would work for us or not. It's sounds like it might?

http://www.in-gender.com/cs/forums/t/148922.aspx?PageIndex=1
Well, I've been TTC since last June when my first post partum period returned from DS #2
So no birth control, but DS #2 is still very attached to "the boobie". I was just trying to let go and let God take over but trying to use OPKS for the timing thing.
My second DS was conceived breastfeeding BUT DS #1 was only breastfeeding like once a day. So when ovulation came DS #1 even breastfed 4 hrs before O.
DS #2 hardly had any formula, it's been mostly breastmilk. I feel my O pain and I swear I ovulate almost every month but..
This seems to have stopped me from conceiving period. Although depressing, I feel it's for a reason. My DH has said.. 3 if we can have 3 and I'm done. So I REALLY need this sway to work! I didn't really have a sway plan in place at all though. Just timing and nothing else. So I know and feel that I need to do things to be able to see PINK in this house.
I just need some cooperation from DH to conceive by warming up his buddies before we BD.
I hope all of that makes sense.

January 29th, 2012, 04:46 AM
I think abstaining would definitely be a good option for you, probably with one attempt at pos OPK (is that what you were thinking of?) :)
I'm still BF too (although only twice a day now) so feel your pain on the fertility front there! it's really messed with my cycles although does seem better now I've stopped the night feeds and taking vitex+vitB6. Are your cycles regular/is your luteal phase long enough?
buy your DH some nice tightie underwear as a special gift... to wear during the week before OV if nothing else! lol ;)
Butterfly Spirit
January 29th, 2012, 05:04 AM
LMAO I almost fell off my chair about that tighty whitey suggestion.
BHAHAHAHA :D I think we will abstain.
What I am thinking is when it looks like it's getting "pretty dark" but not quite there we would BD. But after Jan's cycle.. I had a + on a Sat and Sun and then by Monday night it was - .. I think I Oed after all of Friday's spermies were perished. lol So I really need to decide when to BD. I'd still like to shoot for 2 days prior to O. I trust that more than 3 days.
However I read something and now I'm confused. Two ladies on that site used abstinence and one said that she put her hubby's "sample" under the microscope and she said that when he abstained it was mostly X sperm, but when he went off often it was mostly Y sperm. Then I read on this site somewhere that someone posted that there is no outward difference in X and Y sperm which rocks the Shettles method to the core.
LOL man, I guess I just need to trust abstaining since we haven't tried that yet!
Are you currently TTC even while Bfing? It's nice to have that in common with someone here so I don't feel alone.
My periods are weird too. Two months in a row they will fall on the same day then the third month they will move a few days forward or back but are the same for 2 months in a row. It's crazy! I started Oing around cd 16 but in Jan it seems I oed on cd 20 or 21. I've never ovulated so late!
Do you use regular OPKS or do you use a monitor like Ovacue?
Which would you recommend the most?
I have never tried to temp either but I think I need to start doing that too..
So many things to do. So little time! LOL I'm CD 5 right now. I probably shouldn't attempt to conceive yet until I have my sway plan in place!
My chinese fertility calendar says to avoid Feb and March because I'll end up with boys. LOL
rainbowflower
January 29th, 2012, 05:25 AM
lol well, how could he refuse the romantic underwear? lol (TBH, my DH did refuse!) ;)
unfortunately what those ladies were seeing wouldn't have been X and Y sperm, NBP asked some fertility experts on here about it and got this reply:
Hi there nuthinbutpink,
Hope you are well too. No, there is absolutely no truth to that idea. If XX sperm all swam in circles, we'd have no girls on the planet! , since sperm must be able to swim straight to get to the egg- that "straight swimming" is what we call progressive motility. Too bad we don't have a nice visual check for gender - we'd all save a fortune in time and money on PGS!
Best wishes,
Carole
which makes sense, really! Atomic created this post too: http://genderdreaming.com/forum/thread1562.html
yes, I'm TTC while BF.. I don't plan to stop BF until he self-weans, and he seems to be very keen on continuing so far! (I nearly get pounced on at bedtime lol)
I use both a CBFM and OPKs... I wanted to time my BDing to 3 attempts within 24hrs starting at a pos OPK so needed to be certain about when it was. In the past I've had up to 4-5 days of pos OPKs in a row - I think BF hormones are to blame for that!
was the Chinese calendar right for your other boys?
have you started a diet already?
Butterfly Spirit
January 29th, 2012, 05:36 AM
LOL I don't know what my hubby will say to tighty whiteys either. Although when I read it I laughed out loud SO hard he laughed when asking what in the world was so funny! ;) I highly highly doubt he will touch any supplements. That's probably going to be my job only. I don't blame him.
Thank you for including that paragraph from the expert that really helps me out!
Okay, I will probably get a monitor, because I hear really good things about it. Does it chart your temp as well or do you do that separately?
The chinese calendar was indeed right for my two boys LOL at first it wasn't until I figured that you MUST use your lunar age..not age that you know you are.
And my BFF who has psychic abilities has told me.. be very careful, I think and feel it's gonna be a boy! I'm hoping that it's only because I need to wait a couple months before actively TTC.
Aww your little guy sounds just like MINE! How old is he? I don't have the heart to take his boobie from him either. You and I sound so alike! That is so funny! :)
I have not started the diet yet because I don't have a clue where to start yet. :)
I have to give up coke among all things that I don't see myself ever being able to give up LOL
Is it just caffeine that must be avoided or all that sugar as well?

Hi, I have one more question. What supplements are you taking TTC while BFing like me? What's safe? Calcium, Magnesium, Cranberry..etc? :)
Butterfly Spirit
January 29th, 2012, 05:47 AM
Like these: Gender Selection Supplements (http://www.in-gender.com/Shop/Supplements_Girl.aspx)
rainbowflower
January 29th, 2012, 06:36 AM
I think cranberry, calc, and mag are all safe when BF!
however, I'm only taking vit B6, folic acid, and vitex now... I decided to drop the rest because I do believe that more nutrients (of any sort) sway blue and because calcium actually raises pH!
my DH isn't doing much to sway either other than releasing/BDing on demand lol
my DS is 13 months, how old is yours?
I made that mistake with the Chinese Gender Calendar too - most had been wrong, but when I used LUNAR month and my lunar age it did work out correct... I think this month and Feb are pink months for me according to that, but I;m not sure how much I really believe it :)
Butterfly Spirit
January 29th, 2012, 08:51 PM
Oh my goodness, well that's good to hear, now I'm going to back down from nutrients until I do more research,
I don't know what Vitex is. Are there any side effects?
LOL your DH sounds like mine. Mine doesn't even want #3 because DS # one who's 3.5 and DS #2 who is 2 in 2 days...
(They are exactly 18 months apart) make our house CRAAAZY LOL Little boys you know! LOTS of energy and fighting!
He knows I will eventually win though and I won't back down on wanting a princess so... LOL as soon as I have my plan of attack.. starting with Sylk..and maybe tightey whiteys and lime douching, we'll go from there! bahaha I love it!
How long have you been trying to conceive your princess? :) BFing makes it SO hard!!!!! I'm glad I have someone here to commiserate with in the very same boat!
I don't know about the chinese fertility calendar but "maybe" it scares me LOL
If it says :HH::babyf::HH:for you, GO for it!!!! ;)

I only have one DS who is 13 months so I find it really hard to imagine what little boys are like when they're older! Mayhem, then? :)
vitex is a herb which can regulate irregular cycles and it can lengthen your luteal phase (time between OV and AF) so that's been helpful for me as my luteal phase was on the short side even before BF made it even shorter... Last cycle it was the longest it's ever been! (AF arrived at 13dpo). Downside is that it can lower prolactin so making BF harder (but not massively), and it's not known if it's fully safe when BF (no studies have proved it's unsafe, nor that it's safe), but because it affects hormones some worry it will affect the hormones in the baby from the trace amount that they get through the milk
I've been planning my sway since DS was a few months old, when I first started looking into swaying! Started the diet at the end of August and had a month of TTC in November but AF arrived at 6dpo so that was a wasted attempt :( . So I stopped the diet to regain weight, to reduce BF down to 2 a day, and to see what my cycles did with no supps at all. I OVed on CD26 and had a 9 day luteal phase. I then restarted the diet and have had 2 TTC cycles since, currently in the 2ww of the second cycle. First cycle I OVed on CD19 and had a 12 day luteal phase, this cycle I OVed on CD16 and waiting for AF/BFP.
I have to say I'm tired of TTC now, fed up of the diet after so many months on it, fed up of looking like a skeleton, and just want a BFP!

(forgive me for my return key is broken on this comp)Thank you for that information! I am reading very good things on vitex. So I think that's the route I will take. How much do you take a day? I need to get some vitamin B-6, and vitamin B-50 complex that was recommended to take along with the vitex and one baby asprin a day. Has the vitex caused you any acne? I hope that it doesn't for me! Has it dried up your milk supply at all? As for the diet, I know I need to change some things in my life anyway. I have gained 10 pounds in the last 6 months but really, I need to lose like 40 lbs. Maybe that's also why I have such a hard time conceiving a girl. I really don't know where to start except maybe my beverage lol I love coke.. so I know I need to turn to crystal lite or diet caffeine free coke. Then I need to focus on the foods. I wish someone on here would come up with diet suggestions.. like shopping lists, recipes.. or what to eat for daily meals. My next Q is.. do you douche? I'm thinking I might try the lime one.. I'm not sure though, because I have never douched in my entire life! lol . Would you recommend a douche or tampon? I am going to get sylk at least, I bought some already. :) As for supplements I am not sure yet. How about ions, rose quartz and amethyst jewelry? Oh and, Salt lamps? I mean ..I never realized how complicated this all is lol. Thank you for sharing your experiences with me, yes your sweet son will get even more wild, but he will gain a sweet personality and a furious hungry knowledge to learn! Boys are FUN and adorable they really are but boy do they run around and scream and fight each other much more than I imagine girls would! lol I think you have been working hard for your princess, good for you! I REALLY hope you get your BFP soon! How many days until you find out?
rainbowflower
January 30th, 2012, 11:36 AM
lol, keyboards are annoying aren't they?
vitex - I take 800mg a day - 400mg after his morning feed, and 400mg after his bedtime feed. I've not had any more spots than normal... and haven't noticed any affect on my milk supply. The study that did show milk supply being affected was on women who were taking vitex just after giving birth BEFORE having established their milk supply
B6 - I take 30mg before OV, and 60mg after OV. Next cycle I think I'll take 60mg all cycle.. I don't take the B12 too
Diet - there is a lot of info including meal ideas in the dream member section! there's also a monthly food thread on here where we post what we're eating so you can get loads of meal ideas from that.. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/trying-conceive-girl/7357-january-pink-food-thread.html it does take a while to get your head around what you can/can't eat each day but it doesn't take long for you to find it second nature and have to "count" nutrients less
even diet cola is now considered alright for a sway!
Douche - sort-of, I use RepHresh because it keeps on working to lower my pH to 4.5 for 3 days so I don't need to stress about it!
Ions - rose quartz is fairly cheap.. I read somewhere it's best to have it in direct contact with your skin, so that's how I wear mine. I use a USB ioniser in my computer at work, and have an air humidifier by my bed which I add lavender oil to. I don't really know how much ions sway, but they're fairly cheap and easy to do!
thank you for your wishes :) I'm 7dpo today, might wait until 9dpo and test then, but not really sure... might end up caving and testing tomorrow although it's incredibly early! AF is due at 13dpo, so Sunday.

Okay I'm going to get some! :) Thank you for telling me about the food threads I need to check them out! Okay so the RepHresh.. is that the one with the 4 applicators in it or just the gel and tell me exactly what you do. Thanks for all the other tips. OMG you are pretty close with being able to test. Heck I got a bunch of cheap dip sticks off of ebay because I am a POAS addict! He has a very high sperm count, we had a sperm count done a few years ago and the doctor gasped when to read it, this will not help as high sperm count=boys. I tested his sperm for pH, it is high at 9... to lower it he has started to take cranberry pills and caffeine free diet coke, is that right???
I have to get my diet in order, I have a very boy orientated diet, I am in the UK and would love to find someone on here that has a grasp of the diet and tell me what british foods are good to eat.......

Hi and welcome Butterfly! So glad you found us!
Here are my threads about timing http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/7691-trouble-timing.html http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-girl-best-practices/1380-shettles-method-timing.html I don't happen to believe in timing, the first thread tells you why and the second is the how-to. I personally don't support O+12 at all and if you have to do timing, cutoff is better in my opinion (even tho i don't think it sways and have several opposites!!)http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-girl-best-practices/1291-o-12-part-1-history-o-12-a.html (this is a 3-parter, read all three.)
Cranberry is here: http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-girl-best-practices/7086-how-lower-ph-via-supps-cran-baby-aspirin-aspartame-other-techniques.html
Here is the series of threads about calcium - it's a more complex issue than it seems at first (read all three and the comments afterwards are helpful too) http://genderdreaming.com/forum/trying-conceive-girl/610-calcium-conundrum-controversial.html This thread talks about diet and the various options. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/2502-diet-options-swaying.html and you might find this one helpful http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-girl-best-practices/761-diet-suggestions-ttc-pink.html Also, my complete Low-Everything Diet is available in the Dream Members section along with recipes and meal guides.
Here is the thread about the time of year and swaying. Your info is not correct (that's what they say on another site, but the science indicates something different.) http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/1693-seasons-swaying.html
You can sway with hypothyroid but you MUST NOT do soy. Very very dangerous for you.

LOL
There is NO WAY to tell X from Y sperm under a microscope. We have confirmed this fact with several lab techs and RE's. The girls on IG see what they want to see when they look under the scope and you can put no stock into what they say about that. It is wishful thinking. I'm sorry.
The study that they originally got that idea from used a very high tech computer program to differentiate the way the sperm swam - you cannot do that with a naked eye - and that study has not been confirmed in human sperm or corroborated in any way.
Abstaining DOES SWAY even tho not in the way that Shettles claimed. Go with abstain!!

Hi, I have one more question. What supplements are you taking TTC while BFing like me? What's safe? Calcium, Magnesium, Cranberry..etc? :)
I personally do not think cranberry is safe when BF. Esp. in the doses that people take for swaying.

1) B vitamins - I wouldn't take them unless you need B6 to fix your LP while BF. i think they sway blue.
2)I've taken Vitex while BF two kids and never dried up my milk or caused acne.http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-girl-best-practices/1094-vitex-faq-share-your-experiences-here.html
3)weight loss will help sway pink.
4)all the diet stuff is in the Dream Member section. We have quite a bit in there - meal plans, snack ideas, recipes, nutrient breakdowns of various foods, etc but it's for a perk for Dream Members.
5)personally I don't like douches because you can do everything that the douches do by using RepHresh and Sylk without any of the hassle and risk. If you do want to douche the how to is here:http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-girl-best-practices/866-guide-douching-ttc-pink.html All about RepHresh and other jellies is here:http://genderdreaming.com/forum/ttc-girl-best-practices/1066-complete-guide-replens-rephresh.html and here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-discussion/1134-lure-lubes.html

Thanks Atomic! Thank you for repeating a lot of info these wonderful ladies have taught me since I arrived. I read all of your posts, everywhere! very nice and informative! I also found out several days ago about the no difference thing between the sperm. I now know that Shettles was seeing mature sperm and not quite mature sperm. Isn't that too bad that it's not true! LOL So anyway I have learned a ton from all of you ladies I was going to douche and use cranberry, calcium, and magnesium but now I am going to use Vitex, RepHresh and sylk and a - ion bracelet (those things FOR sure) I am so excited..I'm sure it will make a difference!!! I just feel it! I have the B vitamins but haven't begun taking them yet. I have vitex on the way. So I am not going to TTC at all this month. It's too late to start anything. I am on cd 9, I used to ovulate on the 16th day but now it's like day 21 or 22. My luteal phase seems to stay at 10 days. Is that good? I need to lose weight VERY much. I just hate exercise lol I love the feeling afterwards though! But I know it's going to be the key for me. Whether I will do the diet I don't know. I just need to cut down on what I eat and also change my beverage. Should I do caffeine free diet coke, I have crystal lite. Right now I am thinking of the best way to lose weight. I am a beginner as I never work out. Just chase my two little boys around, and do housework and such. I don't know why losing weight sways pink, I haven't even looked into it. However it makes sense. The skinny women in my hubby's family are thin and they have mostly girls well two out of three of them have only girls!!! So I see truth to the theory!

Ladies, If I have a pretty regular period.. Dec 25 and in Jan it was on the 25th as well, and my luteal phase is like 10 days. My question is, do I even need Vitex ??? My cycle is normal I guess even though DS #2 nurses ALL The time!

Peb, there are a lot of menus/diet tips/recipes in the Dream Members section already. We may add custom diet plans at some point - for right now, we're just doing the sway plans and may branch out from there. The sway plans do have diet suggestions and tips in them.

Yes, you still need vitex (as long as you feel comfy taking it.). Vitex is for more than regulating cycles, it actually seems to sway pink by itself.

Sorry for being repetitive, I just answer every q as quick as I can and some people like to hear it from me personally LOL. :)
10 days is a pretty short LP but the vitex may help with that. You can get pg with a 10 day LP tho.
If you do anything, DO DIET. Diet has far and away the most scientific support backing it up.
Crystal Lite and Diet Coke are both good choices.
Losing weight sways pink by reducing body fat, which lowers estrogen (fat actually makes estrogen) and also by shrinking muscle mass, which lowers testosterone. (muscle doesn't actually make testosterone, but it sends a message to your body to make it.) Weight loss also lowers pH and blood sugar. Also, there is a theory called the "Trivers Willard Hypothesis" that indicates mothers in better condition, with more access to quality food and enough calories, will have more sons because sons need more calories from conception throughout their entire lives.

Oh no, THANK YOU! :) I am so confused now about everything. I finally read your thread The Trouble With Timing.
It's SO ironic.. I don't know if it's fate or what. But after you told me to try abstaining a week and after my husband informed me that he would not be able to do that, he discovered a new computer game and became obsessed with it for a week and during that time he did not go off AT ALL! Then.. Sun we BD. I was on CD12 and I was wearing my - ion bracelet and we used the Sylk. It's VERY hard for me to sway at all because I have the DH that says he doesn't want another one but if it happens it happens :( We fooled around yesterday ( he went inside) and I TRIED HARD to get him to BD but no dice.
But anyway if my body stays on normal schedule, then I should O on CD 16 or 17. My OPK is getting there right now! Last month it was like cd 20 or 21. I hope the sperm can find a safe nook or cranny to survive. I had no idea they could live that long 7-10 days. REALLY!? wOw! That is some good news for me!!!! LOL I am feeling left ovary twinges that started yesterday. It's all up to God now because DH refuses to BD again… for now anyway. But then I read 2 days in a row is BAD for a pink sway! I've been drinking crystal lite lemonade for several days now and hardly any coke. I'm SO excited though.. abstaining 7 days is completely different than what we have done in the past and I'm trying to do opposites from boy habits to sway pink! I have a cold right now too so that's different as well.. maybe that will sway pink too! I don't know, LOL I'm learning so much and I value your input highly. If I don't conceive this cycle, I will do Vitex and repHresh the next AND buy a salt lamp.
Will update soon! :highfive: Thanks again for all the help!!!

Oh, I understand, that's how my DH is too.
Sperm can survive up to 7-10 days but it's really super unusual and has to be like ideal circumstances. Sylk and abstain are NOT ideal circumstances for sperm to survive.
if you are doing a lot of things to sway, it's fine to BD two times for pink. Not with abstain tho.
