Hello

First post!

If we're only going to try once in each cycle does anyone have any advice on:

1) When in that cycle we should try - on the day of OV, or a few days before?

2) Should my husband abstain in advance or release frequently in the days before. I read that it might be helpful for our single try to be his second release of the day ie he'd release on his own in the afternoon and then we'd BD in the evening.

The posts on this forum are so interesting and everyone is so generous so thank you for any responses to this. It hard to tell what advice is the most up-to-date and what has subsequently been found to be ineffective or even unhelpful.

Hi and welcome HC - I have your questionnaire and will get your plan to you as quickly as possible.

Much of this I will cover in the plan based on your unique situation, but just for general info purposes -

If you want timing, you'd have your attempt 2-3 days before you expect to ovulate. This can be hard to hit if your cycle is irregular (and many notice changes in the cycle when swaying!) What most of us do is have an attempt at the first positive OPK, which is about 36 hours average before ovulation. This gives the sperm time to capacitate and make it to the egg.

I will cover whether you guys should abstain or FR in the plan. This can change depending on your circumstances. We are rarely doing the "hurry up FR" with the one release, then dumping it, then BD with the second release any more as it really cut odds of conception and ended up with several people unable to attempt for the month (because their hubby ran out of steam). It's also very stressful for people.

Any time you have any confusion about what the newest advice is please just ask!! That's what I'm here for!

One round of BD the day of ovulation is actually lower chances of conception and we don't generally do that for pink or blue.
