View Full Version : Weight gain?!

I will start off by saying, my scale is suspect to begin with, at least 12yo and we have had issues with it anyway. So we just ordered another one...

BUT according to the scale, I gained a pound and a half this past week?! I highly, highly doubt that, but that’s what it says. It’s also the same exact weight as I was two weeks ago, so if anything, maybe last week’s weight was wrong?

I weigh myself every Saturday, first thing in the morning when I get up, after I go in the bathroom, before I even have any water or anything. I find it’s easier to see weight trends week to week vs daily and saves much disappointment when the numbers aren’t moving day to day.

So it’s two things either way: #1 I gained 1.5lbs in a week (much less likely) or #2 I haven’t lost any weight in two weeks. Neither one of those is that great, I think.

I have exercised for 60 minutes or more (up to almost 70min some days) for the past week. Last week I thing I had two days off, and 5 days of 60+ min exercise. The week before that, I only took one day off.

Today is the start of week 7 on the LE Diet. I’ve been doing very well with the diet and have no problems sticking to the limits — BUT, I’ve been at the upper limits. I was afraid to drop too low and stop ovulation, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue at all. I had a pretty textbook cycle last month with O on day 16 and my normal 13 day LP. I just finished my period earlier this week and I’ve already had EWCM since CD10 (today is CD12). So, it doesn’t appear that my cycles or O are being affected.

I went back and looked at my totals for the last few weeks. My calorie totals have been consistently between 1650-1750, but most days right around or just slightly above 1700. My fat totals have been between 54-60g, with most days up closer to 60g. (I’m not worried about protein at all - I have a good amount of cheese and I have beans in the rotation so I’ve had no problems meeting the 40-50g limits.)

Also the calorie totals all included a glass and a half of wine, or a hard seltzer. So maybe I’m just having too much fat? I have been taking fiber about a half hour before meals as well.

I’m thinking at this point, it’s time to cut back a little? Maybe no more than 1600 calories and 40g of fat? Or should I go lower? Any thoughts?

Weight fluctuations are normal within up to even 5 lbs sometimes. Water weight and I think there's a third option here, which is that you plateaued a bit and you may be a little up or a little down overall.

I'm fairly sure I asked you this already but what is your BMI? It is not unusual to see weight slow down like this and I want to be absolutely sure I am giving you best advice My inclination is for you to stay the course for another week and see what happens, though.

I’m 5’4” so assuming that the weight of 126.1 is correct, my BMI is 21.6.

My normal weight range is 110-115. I think that’s a BMI of 18-19. I was 113-115 all of last year and then gained 19lbs between March and April, with all the COVID stuff and my husband getting fired.

I know I HAVE actually lost some weight, I can physically see and feel the difference. I know that weight loss isn’t the most important, mainly I’m just afraid that I’m doing something wrong or messing up my sway somehow, if I’m actually gaining weight on the LE Diet.

Oh yeah that's right, sorry, it's really hard for me to keep everyone's story straight without regular memory refreshers, thank you.

So in that case, the rules will be a bit different as you're def. up from what you were, and we will like to see possibly a bit more weight off. But I am still thinking to give it another week. If you're feeling thinner, the odds are you have lost weight even if that didn't register on the scale due to water weight or food in your tummy. My suspicion is one of these days you'll get onto the scale and see a big loss unexpectedly.

Oh no worries at all! [emoji4] I definitely don’t expect you to remember every single person’s stories.

I did have a big meal pretty late last night (my dinner - my work schedule is all wonky with daycare still closed), so I was also thinking possible water weight or leftover food or something.

Plus it does not help with my scale being wonky either! Ex: after weighing myself, I went downstairs, made my coffee, had two sips, went back upstairs to take my allergy med, then I reset the scale and weighed myself again — it read 131 at that point. [emoji23] I obv didn’t gain 5lbs from two sips of coffee and a pill! I reset it again and then it read 126.7. So something is up with that scale as well, which doesn’t help at all! New scale is ordered and will be here Tuesday. [emoji1303]

If you think I should stick where I’m at for another week and then reevaluate, I’ll do that. [emoji1303] I’ll weigh myself when the new scale comes in on Tuesday to get a baseline on that scale, then go back to Saturday morning weigh ins. Fingers crossed for some more weight coming off this week! [emoji1695]

Update: you were right! [emoji16]

New scale came in Tuesday afternoon, I weighed myself that night and first thing Wednesday morning to get a baseline for the new scale.

Weigh in day was this morning and I’m down even more! [emoji1316] Not sure if I actually gained weight last week, or if one of the previous two weeks weights was incorrect based on the wonky scale, LOL. but either way I’ve got an accurate one now, held where I was at for my calorie/fat range, and finally saw a good chunk of weight come off. [emoji4]

Also looks like I ovulated as well! Tomorrow’s temp will confirm, but my chart is looking good, I think. [emoji16] Very happy to see more weight come off plus evidence that I’m still ovulating while losing, yay for that!

Today is the start of week 8 of diet and exercise for me... almost in the home stretch! I’m going to celebrate by having my cheat meal and eating pastry from my local bakery tonight, LOLhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200620/205f92d3cb26265e90639f9699f991b5.jpg
