Here's to hoping :pray:this is my last month on this thread!!!! LOL

Pebmcp~THere are different diets. The one on her many ladies are doing is the LE (low everything). To start you can look at January's thread and see examples of what we eat. Also if you become a member (12 a year) well worth it, you get access to the entire plan, meal ideas, snacks etc.. Its about staying within ranges of fat, sodium, calories. You also want to skip breakfast, and do not snack in between meals to keep your blood sugar low.

pebmcp6, Welcome! Here's the quick version of the LE diet incase you're interested. Many pink swayers on this site are on this diet but there others out there on the IG and FG diets as well.

Nutshell version (the version in the Dream Members section is much more complete) -

Calories - 1500-1800
Protein - around 40-50 grams
Fat - between 25-60 grams of fat depending on caloric intake, 20-30% of cals from fat
Sodium - 700-1000 mg

FOODS THAT ARE ALLOWED ON THIS DIET THAT ARE STRICLY FORBIDDEN IN OTHERS - vinegar, lemon (just the addition of these two foods will make it MUCH easier to stick to the low-sodium aspect of the diet), tomato, potato, bananas, and most fruits and vegetables, esp. the lower nutrient ones.

FOODS THAT ARE LIMITED IN THIS DIET THAT ARE ALLOWED ON OTHERS - Eggs, dairy, beans, and nuts should be limited. Dark, highly nutritious fruits and vegetables should be limited, as should whole grains due to their nutrient content. Meats should be avoided as much as is possible.

I do hope people will consider becoming Dream Members, because it keeps the site up and running without having to resort to ads. The FGD and my LE and HE Diets are in there, plus I'm making a third diet called the "In Betweener" diet for people to use prior to when they want to sway and/or for people who are scared to cut back so much to sway pink and/or for vegetarians who want to sway blue. Plus I post all the recipes from my three cookbooks I am working on in the DM section.

Thx, LMN! Peb, you may want to forego the oats b/c oats raise testosterone and may be healthier than we would like on a girl sway. I know they're on the boy swayer's list of go-to foods. On the LE diet, you can incorporate almost anything but some things would need to be in moderation. I would try to just have oats once in a while if you really miss them. HTH!

BTW, peb, not sure about the "crackbread"...I'm not familiar w/that. Anyone know anything about this?

Hi everyone,

I too am just starting the LE diet (yesterday was my first day). I'm using myfitnesspal, which is really handy. I am going to try to wean myself from my morning coffee, I'm worried about either the antioxidants in the coffee or something in the caffeine messing me up.

Yesterday I ate:
Lunch: an apple with 2tb. peanut butter (I know PB is not that great but I was starving!)
Dinner: 3/4 c. unenriched white rice, steamed broccoli & cauliflower + 1tsp. unsalted butter, 1 yoplait light yogurt

plus coffee with sugar and milk in the A.M. (If I can't give up the coffee, I will at least drop the sugar/milk this week)

I'm going to the grocery store today to get some hint of salt Wheat Thins so I won't have to resort to peanut butter again. When you eat pasta do you find an unenriched type? All the pastas I see are enriched with Iron and B-vitamins... is this ok since we are only eating maybe 1 serving a day?

For everyone on this thread- myfitnesspal.com is a FAB site to track all your food and intakes. Its also an app on the phone with a huge database that you can scan your barcodes and add it as you eat...ITS GREAT. Would not be able to be as accurate without it!

AWESOME..picked up the regular ones today to do that. Chocolate would be good to. I think a little bit in the freezer would be great too, the coolwhip would harden just a bit. I'll keep you posted I'm gonna try it!!! I also bought the unsalted potatoe chips (I said I wasn't going to) They were great with egg whites.

Coolwhip is so awesome...You can make sinless girlswaying treats out of anything w/it! DH even loves my creations!

For those of you that don't know what CoolWhip is, it's just a desert topping like the "squeezy cream" that comes in bottles except it comes in a tub (in the frozen food section) and you just spoon it out.

OOTB hun can i drink decaf tea an coffee whenever i like ??

Personally, I don't think it's a big deal at all and several pink swayers drink coffee/tea in the a.m. to help them skip breakkie. I drink a cup of tea in the a.m. myself. Some swayers cut coffee/tea out due to the extra antioxidents and that's okay! If some coffee/tea everyday helps you stick to the LE diet, though, go for it!

ETA...the low cals/protein/fat/sodium sway waaaaay more than keeping antioxidents from coffee/tea down.

littlemissnaughty7

and what to they do hun ?

You mean antioxidents? They're healthy for our bodies which is normally good but not great for swaying pink. Fruits like blueberries have tons of antioxidents in them for instance...As a girl-swayer, I'd pick the coffee/tea (decaf or not) over the blueberries any day, though!!! That's just my take on the coffee/tea thing...

Welcome to all of the gals who are just starting their diets!! I've almost finished my fifth week on it and it is doable (mostly) ... you come to find out what works for you.

For me, I started in the 1500-1800 calorie range but was losing no weight. So in general I'm trying to stay under 1200, while sticking below all of the other maximums on the LE diet (sodium, protein, etc.). I started the diet on Dec. 30 and, with very few exceptions, have managed to stay under all limits (I've had a few times I've gone over on sodium, maybe once I've gone over on protein). I've managed to lose about four pounds total.

I did not keep track of any of my values yesterday, though, as it was my first true cheat day on the diet. One of my staff members was celebrating his 40th birthday and I brought in cookie dough dip (butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate chips and toffee bits -- nothing healthy in there at all!!!) and I couldn't keep my hands off it. Heck, that's the first time I've eaten before noon in 32 days!! We also took him out to eat for lunch and while I keep it vegetarian, I'm sure I wrecked my sodium and protein for the day -- macaroni and cheese, salad with honey mustard dressing and spinach/artichoke dip with hot pita bread. And, y'know, more cookie dough dip during the afternoon meeting! :) Dinner was only some unsalted green beans and a caramel rice cake, though, so hopefully such a spartan meal helped a bit in offsetting the rest of the day's sins! :)

Today, though, I'm back to the dietary grindstone. I have errands to run so I may not eat at all until 2 p.m. or so. Today will probably be some combo of rice and mushrooms, eggwhites and mayo on bread, green beans, caramel cakes, etc. I've also found that I'm in love with taking graham crackers, drizzling them with a bit of Hershey's chocolate syrup, topping them with mini marshmallows and toasting them under the broiler. A fantastic dessert that takes a while to eat and, so long as I stay below my levels, seems safe enough (the chocolate is minor and it's probably mostly corn syrup, anyway!).

I'm expecting AF today, which means I should O around Feb. 16. This month will be our first TTC. Gulp!!

I completely agree! I have to watch my sodium levels like crazy on the days that I let myself have a veggie burger (the patty and bun just skyrocket the sodium), but thanks to salt-free ketchup and salt-free pickles I'm able to make it work. And you're right, it's so satisfying. You actually feel like you're getting to eat something for once!!!

I've been on diet same exact time as you- started December 30th. And I'm also doing 1200 calories. I would NOT lose weight doing 1500-1800. Only thing I go over sometimes is soduim- ends up like 1200 or 1500mg. instead of the 1000mg. max recommeded. I don't even think sodium sways but I try to keep to it anyway just in case. I conceived a girl on Jenny Craig meals- can you imagine how much sodium I was ingesting!! I can't.

And it is def true that now you realize how salty everything taste, after not having any! Its incredible.

I'm not planning on to schedule any cheat days, as it were, but save them for social requirements where I have to go to a restaurant (e.g., my coworker's birthday). Otherwise, I'm trying to stay strictly within the levels because otherwise it's a downhill slide. I found that out yesterday ... once I plunked a single graham cracker into the dip, I was done! My hand was a blur as it crammed the sugary goodness down my throat!

And I've been about 90-95 percent vegetarian since late September, in preparation for my sway, and I am completely, 100 percent vegetarian now on the diet. I will be delighted to return to meat upon my BFP, but for now, none at all.

I have a couples trip coming up.. Feb 17, 18 and 19th. ahhh!! how to deal with that?!! the good thing is.. we will be staying at a cabin and cooking most of our foods.. so I can stay on track mostly.. but I know I'll cheat at least once.. only bc I know we want to go out one night and I know, I will probably go over in sodium. sigh.. feels so early to cheat, I just started! I know that it'll be ok though.

have any of you ever eaten at Subway while on the diet? I am having lunch with a friend today and thankfully, I convinced her to do Subway. so, I figure I'd get the veggie delight on italian with veggies and swiss cheese only.. I hope they have swiss cheese!!

It's a quiet day on the food thread. I guess we're all so busy eating we just don't have time to type, right? HA!!!

I didn't food-journal on Wednesday since it was such a debacle (the infamous Cookie Dough Dip Cheat Day of 2012), but I'm back on track. I'm still doing all of my supps (Vitex morning and night, Saw Palmetto morning and night, two Trader Joe's Psyllium Husk capsules a day, sometimes a couple of Chitosan before dinner -- it depends if I remember -- folic acid and acidophilus. I've also started taking baby aspirin.

Food-wise, here's the past couple of days:

Feb. 2
caramel rice cake
no-salt-added green beans
Atomic's fake stroganoff (I didn't have as many mushrooms on hand as I have before, so I used less sour cream -- the values are therefore lower than they've been in the past)
jelly and light margarine on two slices of white Wonder bread
two egg whites and mayo on one slice of white Wonder bread
5 "hint of salt" Ritz crackers with 1 T. hummus
8 oz. wine
four s'mores (sooooo good!)
two Diet Cokes

calories: 1149
fat calories: 183
fat grams: 23
sodium: 902
protein: 27
calcium: 503

Feb. 3
sugar-free gum
several Crystal Lights
Atomic's fake stroganoff
green beans
two caramel rice cakes
jelly and light margarine on two slices of white Wonder bread
two egg whites and mayo on one slice of white Wonder bread
1 oz. Trader Joe's unsalted tortilla chips with 2 T. Paul Newman's mild salsa
4 Snackwell fat-free devil's food cookies
Whachamacallit candy bar

protein: 31.5
calcium: 503

The weight is creeping off gradually. I started the diet 36 days ago at 107 pounds (I think that's just under 7.7 stone for you UK gals) and this morning I weighed in at 102.4 (or 7.3 stone). A self-flagellating part of my brain would like to see myself drop below 100 before my first try (I tended to be around 98 lbs. in high school and college and was probably 101 or 102 when I conceived our first son) ... but today is cycle day 1, so I'm not likely to shed another 2.5 pounds in two weeks. It'll be what it'll be, I guess.

I have today's meals planned and it's all lookin' quite familiar (more stroganoff, more green beans, more rice cakes, more eggs/mayo/bread, more s'mores, more wine ... I'll also make some mushroom and rice stir fry tonight, as I haven't done rice in a couple weeks now). It's a rare day that I don't do the eggs/mayo/bread combo and then I usually rotate through Atomic's fake stroganoff or rice and mushroom stirfry or a veggie burger as a main entree. *grunt* I'm at least a month away from the possibility of a BFP ... I think I can, I think I can, I think I can ...

I'LL have to try atomic's stroganoff! I made a pasta dish tonight. Angel hair, sautéed some mushrooms in canola, added no sodium diced tomatoes, little balsamic vinegar, tossed it all and a little grated parm. It wasn't bad and easy for sure. Oh and I tried the devils food cake cookies! Yum. I had two after dinner.

So chocolate is ok to have every so often? Bc I know I'll want some on v day lol

Here's the company's link about them: NabiscoWorld (http://www.nabiscoworld.com/Brands/ProductInformation.aspx?BrandKey=snackwells&Site=1&Product=4400004754)

One cookie is 50 calories, 1g protein (the package actually says <1g), 25 mg sodium and no fat. On the list of ingredients, cocoa doesn't show up until sixth (it's preceded by sugar, flour, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup and skim milk), so I figure there probably aren't crazy-healthy amounts of chocolate in them. I add them to my diet on quite a few days, since it doesn't bump up my fat content ... and they're darn yummy!

Oh, and I had to have a freakin' cheat day again, because my family had us go out for my brother's birthday. I at least persuaded everyone to go to the same restaurant I went to earlier this week with my coworkers and once again I got the spinach/artichoke dip and pita bread. At least that keeps my diet vegetarian. The calories and fat were probably darn high in that dish, but I've been keeping those values really low overall lately, so I think I could afford that. And I'm sure the sodium was ridiculous, but I'll keep it low for the rest of the day (tonight's dinner will be Crystal Light, rice and mushrooms, rice cake, unsalted green beans and Skittles). I also took two Chitosan capsules a half hour before lunch, so hopefully that'll help sweep away some of the naughtiness. :)

Probably about 12 or 13 days until our attempt ... so no more cheats!! I don't think any other birthdays are coming up, so I should be able to avoid social situations. On my own, I can follow the diet, but it's hard when obligations turn eyes on you. Can't exactly bring a plastic container of rice and mushrooms to a restaurant, can I?

dramabird, it's ok to have a cheat day and it's even better that you kept it vegetarian!

tomorrow will mark my week of no meat and low sodium. I get tired of the same foods but it hasn't been hard for me to stay on track. I just hope I can get pregnant in March so I can at least go back to eating a little more sodium.

I started with the IG diet and there's not much you can eat. I see you are a Dream Member you should def read all about the LE diet under the dream member section. Its pretty simple and has flexibility-you can really eat anything as long as it fits in with you daily values of sodium, fat, & protein, give up meat, and skip breakfast. Its not so terrible once you start, the hardest thing is cutting calories which you will be doing with whatever diet you choose and thats what sways anyway!

I actually ate this morning ... one of only two times I've eaten before noon in the past 40 or so days. I had to be at work by 7 a.m. today and knew five hours would be a challenge to go through. But what really made me do it was I was having heart palpitations as I was getting ready this morning. As little as I've been eating, I'm sure I've committed the sin of too little potassium. And since Atomic has been quite serious about not letting those levels get too low, I figured one banana at 6:50 a.m. might be an okay idea. I then had a little bit of pasta with light alfredo sauce around 1 p.m. My heart settled down, so hopefully that's all good.

I'll try to make sure I get some more potassium with tonight's dinner, so perhaps a yogurt, an applesauce, green beans and some low-sodium salsa with unsalted tortilla chips (as well as things that don't necessarily bring potassium to the party but will make my tummy happy, like egg whites and devil's food cokies).

The scale this morning read my lowest number so far on the diet (100.8) and I'm probably about a week or so away from my attempt. If I can get maybe another pound off in the next week, that'll mean I've lost seven pounds in seven weeks, which seems like it would be pretty good for a pink sway. And it would also be my lowest weight for TTC (I was probably 102ish for both boys).

Now I'm just staring at the clock, willing it to move to 6 p.m. so I can eat again! Dumb 4 p.m. -- you're useless to me! :) I am flippin' hungry!!

Hi, everyone! Can I join this thread? I'm pretty new to these message boards, I just joined at the end of January. DH and I both came off of a 30-day juice fast this week (for health and weight-loss reasons), and then I stumbled upon this forum and have decided to continue my weight loss with the LE Diet, and plan my sway for later this year (I still have a lot of weight to lose). I hope all of that makes sense!

Anyway, I still have a lot to learn about swaying, and especially about the diet. I am still easing myself off of the fast and onto the LE Diet, slowly.

Can I ask you girls - what is your favorite go-to dish? Maybe something that tastes particularly good, or is easy to make?

I went grocery shopping last night to pick up some "LE" foods. One thing I'd like to make tonight for dinner is something with eggs, I have been dying to have some eggs while I was on my fast (actually, I was just dying for something WARM in my belly, because 30 days of fresh, raw juice made me constantly cold, haha!). Anyway, I have some white mushrooms, eggs (that I plan on taking the yolks out of), white rice, tiny white pita breads/rounds, low-sodium grated cheese, and low-fat/low-sodium American cheese slices. What can I make for dinner with some of those things? I was thinking something like an egg and cheese open-faced sandwich (egg white and slice of cheese on top of one pita round). Or maybe scrambling some egg whites with the grated cheese and chopped white mushrooms, and eating over rice? Hmmm, I'm not really sure. Do you girls have any suggestions?

welcome, sweetpea!

I eat a lot of veggie stir fries - white rice, zucchini, mushroom sauteed with a little canola oil and I'll add some balsamic vinegar for some flavor. I also do angel hair pasta with some sauteed zucchini and add some low sodium diced tomatoes and balsamic.. topped with some parm cheese. I do egg whites on a tortilla often.. easy and filling. pita sandwiches with hummus and veggies.. oh and my favorite, veggie burgers with swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms :)

I try and make sure I get enough potassium but sometimes it seems impossible! so yes, I add a banana lol.. and you need that every so often. I don't think you've messed anything up. honestly, I am still having breakfast. which is just some egg whites and I plan on not having any at all 2ww.. but.. IDK. It will be testy.. I wake up at 5:30.. and lunch isn't until 12.. ahhh! I know "snacking" is a big no no.. and I can't really eat my lunch on my desk earlier. I'm just stuck. any ideas??

I love your meal ideas! Those all sound really good, I'll have to jot them down! Especially the veggie burgers with swiss and sauteed mushrooms - yum!

I'm doing okay so far today. The only problem I'm running into, strangely, is that I don't seem to be consuming enough fat. I'm within my limits for calories (actually have some calories to spare), and protein and sodium are within the allotted limits but near the high end of the range. However, my fat intake is seriously low. Hmmm. Not sure what to add that will give me some more fat, but not too much more protein and sodium. Any ideas?

Butter, mayo and cream!! Saute your veggies in butter, add some mayo to egg whites and toast, make yourself an Italian cream soda with seltzer water, some flavored syrup and a couple of shots of cream. If you use unsalted butter, that won't hurt your sodium levels, but it'll help with the fat levels.

Good luck!

I agree with dramabird! Today was my first day of no breakfast and I was fine but I did wake up later bc of the weekend. I definitely need to try egg whites on bread with mayo for lunch or dinner tomorrow. Yum! Sounds good and "normal" lol

Hey, ladies! Going out to dinner tomorrow, not sure where as its with friends. I noticed one restaurant has a bunch of sides, and an iceberg lettuce salad, but it comes with blue cheese dressing. What do you think are better choices- California roll ( has avacado in it) baked potato, grilled portobello mushrooms, iceberg lettuce salad, mixed green salad w/ cranberries and a bunch other stuff I don't remember. I could mix and match a couple of these but not sure what the best choices are and what to do about dressing/ butter or sour cream if I get potato? Thanks for your help, hopefully we end up at one of these places!

At 12 or 1 pm I eat my first meal and it usually is 3 egg whites, and if you have a Trader Joes near you I eat unsalted tortilla chips You get fat=7grams, Sodium= 0mg of fat, protein=2grams. You get a lot more to munch on rather then butter or mayo!

I think all the choices are pretty good, but I probably wouldn't get the baked potatoe bc of the butter/sour cream etc. I'd also probably avoid the avacado. You can always get the salads with dressing on the side or ask for a little balsamic and oil (must be better regarding sodium). And def stay away from the bread on the table! Are you attempting this month? If not, you have lots more leeway!

amari - I think a salad with the dressing on the side or a grilled portobello mushroom are your best bet - it's probably high in sodium, but if you're going to cheat, sodium seems to be the least important part of the sway. You could always get the baked potato and ask for the toppings on the side so you can control how much you have. Honestly, I don't think a spoonful of sour cream is going to hurt your sway at all, you just don't want to eat a potato swimming in it (or cheese, for that matter).

Eating out is so hard and I have to do it a lot this month. The salads are always with healthful veggies and other stuff is always with salt and oil. I use light sour cream every day at home. At this point I don't even know what restaurant we are going to. To make matters worse I am meeting girls for drinks before hand! Blood sugar will be up for an extended period of time. Ugh. Wknds are so hard!

weekends are so hard.. especially when we have a life lol. all we can do is try our best.

this weekend will be hard for me. we are going on our couples trip to the mountains. I KNOW I will go over sodium at least once. Friday night we are going out to eat.. I've researched the restaurants and managed to persuade my hubby and our best friends to go to a place that offers vegetarian options. so, I know I'll be at least sticking to vegetarian. I'm so thankful that I am not trying this month.. oh and guess what? I will be ovulating on our trip.. so I also need to make sure to stay protected majorly! lol.. but like I said, all we can do is try our best :)

Hi bambinolla, I started out with 130g of meat too (was doing the original FGD diet) but after about a month or so, I was able to give it up (well mostly - I still have a small bit about 2x a month when my CSA chicken is delivered, those things are just too good to not eat!) I have found that I can get by with a lot of yummy cheese and most of the time I don't miss the meat.

I have a ton of meatless recipes if you are interested, just PM me.
