View Full Version : Pregnancy symptoms at 3 weeks?

Hello! I'm at the tail end of my 2WW, and I know I will know within a few days if I'm going to get a BFP or not. But like many of us might do during the 2 weeks, I like to overanalyze every little feeling. So I'm curious - did any of you have any pregnancy symptoms right around 3 weeks?

With my 1st DS, I had no clue what to feel or even expect so I can't recall with him, but with DS2 I felt I KNEW at 3 weeks, even though a friend of mine said there was no way that was possible. But I remember just being so extremely exhausted which I could only describe as pregnancy tired. And I ended up finding out the following week that I was indeed pregnant. Now, here I am hoping for a BFP early to middle next week, and while I do feel a little tired, I have been so weepy over anything and everything! I have gotten emotional over things I never would have in the past. And then today I've just been queasy as all get out.

Either way, I know I'll know soon enough, and I have to say I will be shocked if I am NOT pregnant. This post isn't really seeking advice, but just to hear others experiences!

And just for reference if I do get a + this time around we did e4D after not having success with 3 cycles of only 1 attempt at +opk. This time around I didn't even use the OPKs and just started from day after AF ended up to early this week.

Thanks for reading my long post! Just needed to get that off my mind.

I started to suspect at 7dpo, which also seems like impossible haha because I prob had only just implanted that day or the day before. My first symptom is ALWAYS the crazy increased sense of smell. I got my bfp at 9dpo. Two days before (7dpo), I started with the increased sense of smell. It’s always a bit increased in my LP anyway, but it REALLY was this time. That day I was at the grocery store and took shortcut through the pet aisle to the checkout lanes. I could literally smell the dog food through the bags AND my mask, just walking down the aisle. [emoji23] it was crazy!

All three times, I’ve known. I def think it’s possible. You know your body best and I think you can definitely be in tune with yourself enough that you can tell. Good luck and fingers crossed for you! [emoji92][emoji1695]

Thanks for the response! It's good to know someone else has experienced similar. Also, I just saw on your signature area that you are pregnant! Congrats! Hope it goes smoothly, and fingers crossed you get your pink!

7 DPO is when the baby starts to implant, so you can experience symptoms after that point.

I definitely had symptoms with a couple of mine prior to missing a period, especially sore breasts.

Ok good to know! I keep getting that milk "let down" feeling in my boobs too, and I haven't BF in 5 or 6 months. I'm trying to not get my hopes up too high as I've done this before - but with much fewer signs. I hope it's not all in my head. Lol.

Hi Atomic - I'm hoping you see this. I wanted to add on to this thread rather than creating a new one so you can reference my previous experience.

So I'm super confused about what's going on here. I'm wondering if you can provide any insight! Im going to breakdown my last cycle and then add the questions at the bottom.

Last period:
Aug 19- 24, CDs 1-6

We DTD E4D immediately following AF and did not use any OPK test strips this time. We DTD the following days:
CD 7
CD10
CD13* tho DH struggled and may have only leaked a little, but he was not sure. 🙄
CD 16
CD 19
CD 25

Right after we DTD on CD 25 I began lightly spotting which I assumed was from cervical sensitivity. It was alright for the next few days, but as of today I am still having light spotting! Not enough for a pad, and only the slightest bit when I wipe. Usually I spot on CD25-26/27 and then start full blown the very next day. But I'm on CD 29, still spotting, but still later than I've ever gone without my period.

I have taken pregnancy tests on CD 24, CD 28 & CD29 (yesterday and today) and all have been negative.

As mentioned in my original post here, I've also been having symptoms like being emotional, exhausted, frequent urination, tender breasts, nausea - to the extent of throwing up right after exercising which I have never done before, and I'm in pretty good shape.

So I guess I'm wondering if it's still possible to get my BFP? I don't know if I'm testing too early, even though yesterday technically should have been start of AF, but if I go off a due date calculator it says I would be 3weeks6days. Is that too early? Or could it be that I am pregnant but losing it already (is that a chemical)?

It is possible that you ovulated later than you think and that this is a new pregnancy that hasn't shown up on tests yet. It is also possible that it's a chemical. But, it's ALSO possible that you still haven't ovulated yet and your symptoms are from a hormonally "weird" month (and it's even possible that you HAVE ovulated and it's still just a weird month)

Because progesterone rises post ovulation, sometimes, in some months, especially when something is hormonally different (like when you're on a sway diet) you may notice more intense symptoms in the 2WW even when not pregnant. I know this is hard to believe but because both the luteal phase and pregnancy = higher progesterone you can have an overlap of symptoms. I myself have gotten nauseous to the brink of throwing up in a couple months after O, even when there was no way I could have been pregnant.

So while I know this is an irritating non-answer, the truth is, we don't know what's going on, there are several possibilities, and we can't tell for now which one is the real deal. Most likely case scenario you're going to get a proper flow in a day or two and then we can think back to about 14 days earlier and that's likely when ovulation occurred.

Thanks for the thorough response! My symptoms have pretty much gone away, but I still haven't had AF and all spotting has now stopped. It was never a significant amount of spotting. Also, another negative test today so I'm just going to say this is not a pregnancy.

So I guess my next questions would be: do I consider myself still on CD31 and continue carrying on? If I never have a proper flow, should I start DTD E4D now or how do I know when to start up again? Or is this something I should see a doctor for? I'm usually very regular so I'm a little worried why the sudden weird cycle.

Edited to add: finally got AF today(sat) after 31 days. Never has that happened before!

Keep going with the e4d method for now. We don't know that this was your period.

Most of the time the doctor will shrug and tell you to wait it out. It is completely in the realm of normal to have a goofy cycle now and then and docs see it all the time, then it generally normalizes.

Are you eating enough fat and cals??

I have been eating between 1500-1800 calories a day. I keep my fat intake between 40g-60g as I exercise a lot.

I've been thinking this weird cycle could have been caused by 1 of 2 things...

So I hadn't lost any weight from Dec through early August. I was stuck right around 150-153lbs. In early August I started doing 2 additional 45m-1hr cardio workouts per week and cut off any eating beyond 7pm. So in 6 weeks I was able to drop down to 144 lbs. Would you consider that drastic weight loss and could that have delayed my period? *if this is even my period

Also I've been reading a little more about chemical pregnancies and also think this could be a possibility. I don't think there is any way of knowing at this point, but if I were to assume it were this, do CPs sway boy or girl or nothing at all? I just want to cover all my bases and don't want to do anything that is not girl friendly.

How tall are you?

6 weeks to lose 10 lbs is not what I consider drastic weight loss for most people, but if you're quite tall than it may have been.

But the thing is, exercise doesn't delay your PERIOD. It only delays ovulation. So you still would not have ovulated. It just can't be the case that you ovulated and then had your period take a while to come. You'd have to have not ovulated, either.

This does not seem like a chemical pregnancy to me. With chemicals, you'd still have a normal flow afterwards. What it sounds like to me is delayed ovulation, then you had a slight drop in estrogen, shed a bit of lining, but the cycle is still continuing. You can still ovulate even if you've had a bit of midcycle spotting, so I would continue with the e4d pattern.

I'm 5'3 so definitely not tall at all. I guess for me it felt drastic because I struggled for 7 months to lose even a pound. Lol.

We will continue trying this month and hope for our BFP soon. Thanks again for the input!

You are still what should be good range for continuing ovulation.
