View Full Version : BFP with not much line progression?

Hi everyone! I got an unexpected (and I think unlikely) BFP. I have been tracking the line progression and while it has definitely progressed since my first test, it seems to have plateaued the past few days. I think I am about 16 DPO today. The line isn’t as dark as my previous pregnancies’ lines have been at this point. I wouldn’t put too much stock into it but I also have absolutely zero symptoms and had symptoms in the past before the BFP. I know the at home tests aren’t always reliable for detecting HCG increases but I have taken each test at the same time each day with FMU so I would think they should get at least a little darker. Has anyone had this experience? I’m obviously a worrier! :)

I didn’t sway since this was a happy surprise, but I really feel like I have sway factors from each side and already have a boy and a girl so it will be a fun experiment to see which direction this one goes!

Thanks so much!

Hi ittybitty, I had a similar experience with this current pregnancy but when I got to about 18 dpo the test line was darker than the control line (finally!). I had a hcg blood test and the first result at 15 dpo was 83 so I was worried, especially because I had a loss only 4 months ago but the next lot of bloods showed the hcg levels was 1301 so they were doubling every 36 hours (average is 48/72 hours) so that was reassuring. I’m 5.5 weeks now and still don’t have many symptoms. I see my obs for the first time in 3 days so hopefully he can do a scan to confirm everything is okay but just wanted to let you know my hcg levels grew rapidly after what seemed like weak hcg levels to begin with so you could be in a similar boat. :)

Line progression is not reliable. What matters is you have a positive test that doesn't go from being fairly dark to super light suddenly.

Many pregnancy tests never get darker. That doesn't mean your blood levels of hcg aren't rising.

Some pregnancies have early symptoms and others don't. I've had symptoms before BFP and then not till more like 6 weeks in.

Thank you both so very much for the encouragement! Flowergirl, I’m so glad that your numbers have increased so much! That is really reassuring.
Atomic, always to the rescue! Thanks for your input!

I definitely need to chill out with the constant testing and comparing. :)
