Hi everyone,
After trawling this site and it’s vast wealth of information (and being totally in awe of Atomic’s knowledge)for months, I’ve finally purchased a sway plan and am super excited to get started TTC a girl.
My background:
DS1- born in 2009. I was 19 and not trying but not preventing. Conceived within a couple of months of meeting DH.
DS2- born in 2014. I had actually dabbled in a couple of types of birth control prior to TTC. The injection and also birth control pill. It took me around 8-9 months to conceive but I believe that’s down to not watching/ being aware of my cycles and BD at the wrong times and possibly the birth control taking a while to leave my system completely.
2018- I had a copper IUD which I decided to remove for another baby. Got pregnant the month after removing it but sadly that ended in an early miscarriage at around 6-7 weeks.
DS3- Born 2019, conceived just weeks after the miscarriage.
2020- had a copper IUD fail and ended up pregnant and getting the IUD removed immediately after finding out. Unfortunately that one ended up being ectopic (I think it may have been down to conceiving with the IUD in place, I’ve heard of this upping the risk. I had to have my right tube removed.
Here we are a few months after my ectopic and I’m ready to put my all into a sway and cross my fingers for a wee princess!
My lifestyle:
I have always been a very keen eater. I’m not a fan of skipping meals at all and I would have a good breakfast everyday- often omelettes or muesli and some coffee.
I’ve never been much of a drinker- suppose I’d say I’d have alcohol maybe once or twice a month if even that.
I’d exercise moderately to keep weight off but it would be mostly weights and only maybe 3 times a week at the gym with a tiny bit of cardio as a warm up. Occasionally would walk. I’ve always had a fairly curvy figure but still quite muscular too. To be honest I think I have to stay rather active to counteract all the food I like to eat.
I believe I’ve probably had fairly high testosterone levels, I think having a bunch of carefree boys has made me feel the need to control a lot of things in my life to keep us all moving in the right direction if that makes sense. Especially because DH is also a pretty laid back type of guy. I always feel the need to take the reigns on everything or it won’t get done. Also I’ve worked in competitive environments (e.g. in sales) and I’d totally get caught up in wanting this win.
I’d say my maternal health was pretty good, always been big on getting enough sleep, eating a nutrient dense diet (Keto before DS3 so very little carbs and ALOT of fat and protein!), not a smoker, no drugs and very little alcohol and overall a pretty comfortable life- all seems very blue to me!
What I’m doing now:
I’ve started LE diet, keeping my calories as low as possible.
Skipping breakfast daily and having only coffee before lunch.
Ditched the weights at the gym and am aiming for one hour of intense cardio 5-6 days per week.
Having a glass of wine at night (most nights).
Attempting to be less of a control freak, I’m finding that as I get older I’ve naturally been less controlling, it’s actually very freeing and I’m much happier for that:)
That’s all I can think of until I receive my personalised sway plan.
Sorry for the really long intro, I find reading other people’s really interesting so figured a bit more info can’t hurt hehe. Happy to be here on this journey with you all!
Xxx

Hi Atomic, I’ve started using cheapie OPK’s, and my O day was supposed to be yesterday (CD15 according to Flo app, usually I’m pretty sure it’s quite regular, but then again I don’t usually use OPKs...) but it doesn’t seem to be anywhere in sight! I think it’s possible that it came earlier this month as I remember seeing a bit of creamy borderline EWCM a few days prior but that would’ve only been around cycle day 12, unfortunately I hadn’t yet started using OPKs so can’t say for sure. AAAANYWAY, is it normal to O earlier once you start swaying girl? I’m losing weight relatively quickly and I have much less CM throughout the month (usually have a lot, sorry TMI) so my body really seems to be responding. I’m just scared I might have lost O completely! Should I keep using OPK’s this month in case it’s actually running late?

Yes it is totally normal to see changes in your cycle when swaying, and we take that as a good sign generally speaking. But as long as your OPK are cheap, there's no harm in continuing with them just to be sure
What is your BMI now?
jayokan
February 14th, 2021, 04:39 PM
I thought you’d say that, I’ll keep on doing the OPK’s to try work out what’s going on:)
BMI is 23- I’ve lost just over a kg in the last week. I’ve been eating around 1800 calories per day on LE/vegetarian but I think I’ll try more for 1500 this week as what I’ve lost is just around my middle and usually after I lose weight around there I’ll plateau a bit (I’ve been fluctuating in weight for the past couple years)but find it quite hard to go below 70kg which is where I am now.

If weight is coming off just stay at the same calorie intake. If you're losing weight, you don't need to cut back. If you DO end up plateauing, then we can cut back at that time.

Ok cool, thanks for the advice- will stick where I am! Also, got positive OPK yesterday so looks as though O has just shuffled back a couple of days[emoji4]
EDIT: looking at my OPKs from yesterday and today now I don’t know that it actually is truly positive as the line is dark but not AS dark as the control line. I will keep testing daily. First time OPK user, can you tell?[emoji28][emoji28], have added a pic, top is yesterday’s and bottom is today’shttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210216/5524b5a57581de0b28efbe44383c1787.jpg

Hi Atomic, received my sway via email yesterday and have really enjoyed reading it and planning how I can put as much of it into action as I can. So much amazing info in there! Somewhere on there it says I should receive a food shopping list, is that via email too or is it located in the dream member section? Maybe I wasn’t looking properly lol

Thank you, it feels like a pretty good effort so hopefully it’s enough to really up my chances[emoji4]Especially because it’s so different to how I’ve lived when I’ve got my boys, on all levels!
My diet nowadays is pretty bland. I’m not eating meat, and I’m skipping breakfast (I just have coffee in the morning). For my lunch I’ll have something like:
-toasted corn tortillas filled with lettuce and a bit of cheese
-asparagus rolls made with white bread and a little margarine
-a bagel with cream cheese and a few pieces of tomato seasoned with pepper
-or maybe just some toast with low sugar jam on a day where I can’t be bothered.
- Cottage cheese with chopped fruit
Dinner I’ll often cook paneer or halloumi cheese and mix the pieces with a low sodium tandoori or curry sauce and a little bit of sour cream (from the supermarket, pre made). I’ll have that with white rice and usually some shredded lettuce with balsamic dressing on the side. I keep the amount of curry I have very minimal and fill up more on the rice. I’ve also been enjoying making my own (super basic) tomato sauce which I have over pasta with a bit of Parmesan cheese. There’s a great recipe for a simple baked potato on the LE diet plan which I’ve been loving and having once or twice a week, again with my shredded lettuce salad on the side.
I don’t snack much at all and am doing my best to cut it out but I like LCM bars, the odd biscuit here and there or just a bread roll with butter. I also like fruit, stone fruit is in season here in New Zealand so I have a couple of nectarines or apricots most days.
I’ve just received my sway plan a few days ago and have discovered the meal plan etc so this should hopefully allow me to add a bit more variety into my diet in the months going forward, it’s been pretty safe and basic so far for me so I’m looking forward to trying some new things!

Jayokan, how is it going now???
Hi Atomic! Great, thank you for asking:)
I’m feeling super positive as I’m losing weight at a pretty steady pace, about 500g per week on average, consuming I’d say 1500-1600 cals per day and exercising 6-7 days of the week. Planning on TTC mid April as that will take me through to close to 12 weeks of diet/sway.
Hubby has jumped on board with soy milk a couple times a day (hoping chocolate flavoured is ok? That’s all he’ll drink), taking Metamucil with me (he only has it once a day, so you think he should have more? I’m currently having twice a day with meals), he’s also taking OLE in capsule form, do you think I should purchase liquid? Will it make much difference?
We’re also both drinking ALOT of Diet Pepsi which I’m not used to but am loving...I might be addicted hehe.
I’ve purchased low dose aspirin today so I might start taking that too, do you think it’s necessary? I’m kinda looking at every aspect of the sway play and trying to follow it but I don’t want to cut my odds of conception too much so wondering if you think the aspirin is worthwhile.
I’ve found the diet info as well so that’s helped me a lot in finding new ideas for meals but mostly I eat very similar foods day in and out to make it easier and I actually enjoy the way of eating.
So all in all going fab and I’m very motivated!
I think it’s also very worth mentioning that I have 2 sisters that are currently pregnant with daughters.
One eats like a sparrow ie almost nothing at all and is very heavy on caffeine and alcohol. She’s always been very small weight wise. She used to smoke but now uses a vape and uses it constantly to the point where I believe it’s replacing meals. She was doing this leading up to conception. Her lifestyle has probably been the most variable, she has had a lot of different partners over the years and with each one, her lifestyle has changed drastically regarding how she cares for herself and how healthy she is. She currently has a boy and a girl (with another girl on the way.
The other sister has 2 boys. She had been overweight the most part of her childbearing years. She was always a big eater and ate a diet rich in meat, salt, potassium etc. the past year she’s had an extremely hard time and pretty much stopped eating altogether. She (like my other sister) would replace meals with cigarettes and probably would only have one meal a day. She lost a massive amount of weight to the point where we were seriously concerned about her. She probably halved her weight to be honest. I wasn’t surprised when I learned last week that this baby is her first girl.
Neither of these methods would be appealing to me, but it did really reiterate the differences in which sway us to have either gender, almost like first hand proof for me! I was amazed and it’s motivated me more then ever, I won’t be taking up smoking lol- but I’ll be giving this sway my absolute best[emoji3526][emoji6]

Yes the chocolate soymilk is fine! That's what most guys drink.
Once a day is likely enough for hubby - with the meal containing the most fat!
I feel we see much better compliance with the capsules so that's what I generally recommend. The liquid is expensive and many men won't use it anyway.
I honestly don't think the aspirin works, please by all means leave it out. It can also cause a lot of side effects for many people and I'm always happy to see people skip that.
Yes LOL we would not want you on either of those methods though I'm glad they're getting girls! Now let's make it three in a row! (and please don't be worried, them getting girls doesn't mean the girls are "used up!" I get that question quite a bit and there are always plenty of girls to go around!)

Oh good, I think I’m happy I’m doing enough then reading your reply!
I’ll flag the aspirin idea and just stick with the other things I’m doing.
Hehe regarding my sisters having girls, we had nothing but boys for quite a long time in my family so this to me is more reassuring then anything- hoping I can follow suite![emoji178]

Hey Atomic, Should I be concerned that my period is still nowhere to be seen on CD32? Think I ovulated on CD18. My previous cycle was only 27 days (usually averages 28 days). I did take an early pregnancy test 2 days ago which was negative so it’s probably not that, we’ve only been using pull out for contraception but we’ve been pretty good with it. I’m sure it’s just the sway delaying it but just wanna make sure I’m not doing anything that may prevent AF

If your period comes late you likely ovulated later than you realize.
Are you wanting to wait it out or do you want to make some changes to diet?
We may need to see you eating more calories and up to 60 g fat a day.

Hi Atomic, looks like it’s gonna start today- I was a bit concerned. I usually log the first day of AF as the first hint of pink discharge I see as generally it starts within the day. Is that right, or do I wait until there is an actual flow of blood to log it as CD1? (I think I saw you’d said that somewhere on another thread.) To be honest I think I need to eat more fat and protein anyway, I’ve been a bit slack on my tracking and I actually don’t think I’ve been getting enough. Calories wise I’ve been doing well (maybe a tad of the light side), but from what I see on my fitness pal app I’m actually lacking in the others. I’ll make a conscious effort to stick to the recommendations going forward, think I’m losing weight quicker then I mentioned before- it’s probably closer to 700g-1kg coming off per week at this point. BMI still pretty healthy at 22.46.
*Update- AF has definitely arrived[emoji3526]
Do you think I should have an attempt this cycle? I’ll be at almost 8 weeks on the diet and exercise if I ovulate around the time I should. Kind of scared I’m gonna have a harder time falling pregnant now that I’m down one Fallopian tube- not sure how much it effects things! Happy to wait till next months so it’s closer to 12 weeks if you recommend.

My rule of thumb is a little different than the official rule. My rule of thumb is "if you think it's AF, then it's AF." For many of us, our period always starts with a little pink flow at the start. As long as it's YOUR type of period that's totally fine. But what we're on the lookout for, is say, spotting for many days before the period starts, because that indicates a suboptimal LP. In THAT case, people might be getting spotting at the tail end of their LP instead of their actual flow, and then if they had red flow 3-4 days later then that would actually be the start of their period, if that makes sense.
Yes please do up your food intake to hit the limits. We honestly see more trouble from people cutting back too far than not enough, so let's err on the side of caution.
It's your choice about 8 vs. 12 weeks. We do see better results 12+ but if you're doing a pretty strict sway in terms of one attempt, FR, jellies, etc you may want to go ahead earlier and treat this almost like a practice round, trying but so strictly that you cut odds of conception by a lot. :)

Ok great, I’ve definitely had AF now and it should finish tomorrow so I will begin OPKs then to get a feel for them as last month I started them late and probably wasn’t using them properly (not doing same time daily, drinking too much beforehand etc). Have read the Ebook now so am excited to start with them.
Have upped food intake but still seem to be losing a couple hundred grams per day so will definitely do my first attempt this cycle.
Hubby will start frequent release in a few days time. I can’t find Rephresh anywhere here in NZ including online, would Acijel or Replens work well in its place or should I skip that? I do have Sylk lube so I will use that for BD.

Just skip the RepHresh in that case - the Acijel and Replens would replace Sylk, but I like Sylk better because it's a better lube!

Just jumping in to say you're doing great and best of luck here soon! I'm in a similar boat to you, swaying pink after 2 boys, and plan to start TTC end of May/beginning of June based on my cycle. My sway looks very similar to yours and my husband is doing what yours is too - hoping for pink for both of us 🤗

Hi Shelby,
Oh that’s lovely, thanks so much!
I was so excited (and a tad anxious) to start TTC that I thought I’d start this month (around 8 weeks diet and exercise) but I really want to feel like I’ve done all I can so I’ve decided to wait it out and go with next month instead so I can say I’ve done a full 12 weeks. Fingers crossed for pink for us both!! Xx

I completely understand! I started the PCOS LE diet mid-January so should be around 20ish weeks when we start TTC. I had 20 lbs weight to lose and started off with higher calories and macros knowing I would be on it longer. We will be done after this baby so wanting to give it everything we got so that even if it's another boy we will go out knowing we tried!
Hoping for a quick conception & your desired baby girl 💖

To anyone reading this thread in the future, I’m beyond blessed to update that I’m 14 weeks pregnant with my baby girl (confirmed via NIPT earlier this week) , 1 year and 8 months after making the decision to sway for a girl for my 4th and final baby. After only having boys this feels so surreal and I still have to pinch myself!
I did a full on sway for about 4 months beginning March 2021. I don’t think I was eating enough calories (I was rubbish at tracking) and I lost too much weight and found it difficult to conceive.
I amended my diet a little after that, upped the calories a bit and incorporated meat back in but in minimal amounts and for the majority of time it was just chicken. I wouldn’t typically eat breakfast, instead combining breakfast and lunch and (though I’m definitely not recommending it), I was vaping quite a bit due to stress which I think helped keep my calorie intake lower. I couldn’t say what i adjusted my calories to as I stopped tracking it all, all I CAN say is that it was significantly less then before sway when I would eat 3 full meals per day along with whatever else tickled my fancy in between- the way I ate when I got all my beautiful boys[emoji28][emoji16]
I kept up the exercise, doing far less weights then I usually would and more cardio then I’m used to- usually just brisk walks for around 45 minutes, 5/6 times a week. I conceived in December 21’ but had a miscarriage, then suffered a chemical pregnancy beginning of August this year, but conceived this beautiful blessing only a few weeks later.
I think one of the biggest things that helped me HONESTLY, was stepping back and not stressing over it all. I had to almost put swaying out of my mind completely (the loose diet and exercise remained as it had become habit), but I stopped trying to control every single factor like I’ve always done in the past- let it go and decided that after the losses I more then anything wished for a beautiful baby to take home. I stopped obsessively reading about what everyone else had done to get their girls and decided that if we’re lucky enough to be blessed with another baby then it would be the sex I was supposed to get and I would love him/her absolutely no less anyway like I do my boys.
Timing and attempts were pretty much boy friendly the month of conception- I was using OPKS and following sperm meets egg plan for attempts by this stage as I just wanted to get pregnant, I guess it was the other lifestyle changes that swayed things in my favour. Also the fact that this had become my way of living for a year and a half probably helped, it was a slower and more drawn out process for me then some, but ended up beautifully!
Thank you so much to Atomic, if I hadn’t gained all the knowledge to did from you and this site and changed things up with my lifestyle then I HIGHLY doubt I’d be sitting here with this news today! Your vast wealth of knowledge has helped so many women the world over and I’m so grateful to say you’ve helped me, you’re amazing!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy with your baby girl Jayokan. Thank you also for telling us of your swaying details. I for one am not too particular on gender. I have no babies yet. I'm 46 now and about to start IVF with donor eggs. I have PCOS and my husband also has male fertility issues but good thing we can still use his sperm for the treatment. Hoping to have babies like you soon.
