View Full Version : Is there a nub in these?

I know it’s too early to guess, but I’m obsessing a bit. I snapped a few photos from the video we took and wondering if there are possibly any clues here or even a nub in these at all? Maybe these are more clear than the original ones I posted? I just don’t know. We used a terrible ultrasound machine lol. Many thanks https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210311/9d9e42eca5d3444093c3ca4cece8cb35.jpg

Hi, I am not the best when it comes to ultrasounds but have you tried the groups on Facebook? There seems to be a lot of people to view and may be able to give a better guess [emoji3526] I am unsure of your sway but I would have said boy. All the best

I would have immediately thought boy if that was my ultrasound but maybe it’s too early to tell for sure? But it’s forked so not sure if that definitely means girl...The baby could also have a curved spine making the nub look angled? I don’t know what you swayed so I don’t want to give you hope either way. I do feel like my boys nubs looked kinda girly that early though. With my girls I feel like I just knew it was a girl right away because the nub seemed to angle straight/down almost.

Because I know how important this is to you, J, I just really want to hold off till I'm sure before I guess. :)

Ok Thank you! I know you said it was too early I just kept watching the video and saw this. It was a terrible ultrasound so I know that doesn’t help. I felt like maybe these were just more clear than the original pics I posted.

Can fork be either? I thought I read an early nub, at 12 weeks, can look forked for both? Maybe I’m wrong

Yes they can, I just don’t remember if my boys were split all the way down or just forked at the end. Will you be doing an NIPT to find out?

No we passed on that. I just didn’t want to pay the money. I’ll have to go back in and look again a little later. In another photo someone mentioned it looked like some stacking but I think that photo may not have been as clear as these. Im not sure. Here’s that photo https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210311/92d814ba891c836cf3b0808c3a0d798f.jpg
I know it’s technically too early to know by the nub theory so I probably should just stop like Atomic told me to [emoji23][emoji23][emoji2360][emoji2360] this is our fifth and final so I’m just hoping after a “failed” sway and then not getting to try again the last two that maybe this will be our finale baby in the gender I’m [emoji1317] for [emoji23][emoji23]

In the 11 week range my babies’ nubs were obvious and clear, which is not that common, but the tech in my perinatology clinic always makes a point of looking For a clear shot for her own reasons (she likes to keep stats on if she guesses correctly). My boys all looked like they had a party hat for a nub and my girls had a pretty straight line. If they don’t specifically try for a clear nub at the right angles, it’s really hard to tell what is what. At my scan yesterday (12w5d with babies measuring 13w0d) the nubs were very clear and angling down, so she said I might be able to get a good potty shot and spent a few minutes each baby looking as well. Three parallel likes with the middle line slightly shorter for both babies and perfectly flat/in line with the curve between the legs with no bulge at all. She said combined with the nubs and potty shots she was pretty confident in saying girls (but wouldn’t say that until I stated my opinion first) and then when I saw the doctor after he said the blood test didn’t detect any Y chromosomes and gave a 90% chance both were girls.

Unfortunately, none of your pics have clear or complete nubs to guess on. You’ll either need to get another scan in a few weeks (15+), get a blood test, or wait until your anatomy scan. It sucks to have to wait, but it’s better to get a reliable answer a bit later on than it is to get wrong guesses to either give you false hope or unnecessary disappointment.

Thanks I was wondering if you’d see this and give me an idea if the nub was more clear. I know the original pics I posted you thought maybe something was in the way. These seemed like maybe there wasn’t anything in the way. Like I mentioned, the machine we used wasn’t very good. It wasn’t an OB Ultrasound [emoji38] but husband actually didn’t think we’d even be able to see the baby [emoji23][emoji23]

yes it can be either because it can be either vulva or it can be penis + testicles

Guessing is enormously tricky!

Jconger, I’m no help as it doesn’t feel clear cut and it’s early but congrats! Have you got 4 girls?
I just had my 4th girl a week ago so am rooting for you! :D

So I guess this is the nub?! I’ve been wrong on all of my photos. This is very girly. No fork or stacking here. Praying it rises. [emoji1317][emoji1317] I really feel like this is our boy but this photo makes me feel discouraged. I know it’s a very grainy ultrasound and right at 12 weeks or end of 11 but still. I wanted a boy every time but knew it was always girl. This time I really *felt* like it was a boy. [emoji20] I want to be ok with never having a son. I truly never saw myself with 5 kids. I’m truly to remind myself I am so blessed no matter what. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210312/ede1de00849885c2fc1b57c530429aa5.jpg

I have no clue about nub but I am praying for you.

When will be your next scan?

You cannot tell the gender because the nub can rise. This means it could look exactly like a girl, and then the nub will become a boy nub. All you're doing is spinning your wheels. Yes, it could be a girl. It could also be a boy. 50-50 for now.

You’re right. I’m just going back and forth. Im probably driving you crazy [emoji12] sorry!! Thank you for your encouragement. I am just not sure I can handle hearing “girl” for the 5th time... trying to prepare myself though. Thanks again!

I feel like that last picture someone found from my photo might not be it either. I don’t think a grainy ultrasound was a very good idea [emoji23] here’s our 10w+2d and it was very clear. I know that’s too early for anything but it looks different from the last photo I posted.

I’m not sure when to go in again. We have access whenever. When would be a good time to go in since the quality isn’t that great? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210313/03979098d3699368660b9d18119cab21.jpg

Are you guys doing these ultrasounds yourselves or something?

Jconger
March 13th, 2021, 04:12 PM
The second one we did. The one that was super grainy. We have access to a machine if we want. I have read to not do them more than what is necessary though? For safety reasons? [emoji2372]

Yes, it's best not to do them if not necessary.

I'm not sure who's doing them for you but it can be tough to do ultrasounds on yourself because if the person doing the ultrasound isn't trained they can be focusing in on the wrong stuff.

I just can't know on the basis of these shots.

The second one was my husband. He does spine and needed to practice. We went in with the intent of practicing and then I asked him if we could try and see the baby. He had no idea what he was doing in that department lol. That’s why it was so grainy. Not an OB machine like the first. The last photo from my video was just someone in a Facebook group finding the nub for me. I feel like there are so many black and white lines though how could she really know. This photo at 10+2 was done by an ultrasound tech on an OB machine [emoji38] I know we can’t go off of this though. Should we go back in at some point and take a peek before the 20 week? It would be my husband, once again, doing it. Lol

The further along you get the more obvious it would be. Up to 15 weeks you can do nub, after that we need potty (and again, further along is better for that too)
