Hi! I’m a new member so I’m trying to figure it all out. I’ve loosely started swaying and wanted to ask your opinion on things I’m doing to see if I need to make any changes or not. I currently
Have two boys and I’m 33 years old. I’ve gotten pregnant the first month with both boys. . Here’s my sway plan:
- skipping breakfast and eating around 11-12pm. I drink 1 cup of black coffee in the morning (never drank black coffee before. Only sugary, creamy coffee drinks)
- trying to go vegetarian. I hardly ever eat red meat, but cutting out chicken. I still eat a good amount of cheese.
-stopped snacking completely. I will have a Crystal light drink between lunch and dinner If i want something. Is that ok?
-I’m not taking any prenatal or vitamins, but I’m planning on starting soon. Do I need folic acid or folate and how much?? I will also be adding fiber and possible cal + mg.
- trying to walk everyday to get in some exercise. I’m currently 125lbs 5’1. I have hypothyroidism, but otherwise healthy. Do you think I should follow regular LE diet or PCOS diet?
- I have started drinking a white claw at night. Should I have this with my meal
Or is it ok to have a little later?
**Thank you so much for everything you do!

Do you have any idea how much protein, fat, and calories you're eating??
I think that since you've got hypothyroid you should do the alternate diet. We have good results with that for hypothyroid ladies.
What vitamins do you plan on taking?
You should take 1200-1600 mcg folic acid or folate daily thru the whole first trimester and then gradually wean off by spacing doses further and further out till down to one per week, then drop them.
Cal mag is at your discretion but be sure it does not have added Vit. D in it.
While technically you should have anything with more than a few cals (like the White Claw) with a meal, most of us kinda cheated on that part and had it later after dinner or while cooking dinner. You can have Crystal Light between meals.

So I’m around 1200-1500 Cals with 50G protein and 40G fat. It’s been hard to figure out all of that when I’m making food at home. Do you think I should get a scale to measure my food? I think my protein intake may go down a bit after I cut out chicken.
I will look into the PCOS diet and incorporate that into my routine.
I’m only planning on taking fiber, folic acid or folate, and possible cal + mg. I’m trying to get clomid too, but I’m not sure I can get my hands on that since I don’t technically have any fertility issues.
Anything else you can think of that I should be doing?

I don't believe in measuring food for ANY reason especially pink swaying. This is because it just makes you overly focused on every morsel you put in your mouth which is not good for you mentally regardless and with pink swaying, it's a disaster because it feeds the "control freakishness" women with all boys tend to be prone to, and that undermines your sway.
You don't need to give up chicken, in fact, please don't. We'll want to see you at 50-60 g protein and fat and a little chicken here and there can be a good way to get it without having to eat scads of carbs (since on the PCO-type alt. LE Diet we don't want you to go crazy with the carbs).
Since you're on the alternate diet, I want you to do some exercise daily even if you can't get up to the full amount (60 minutes is more important than the number of days per week - we've had good results with 60 minutes 4 days a week, for example). The benefits to your sway from blood sugar are so great it will help even if you don't get the full amount.
Is hubby doing anything?

Ok. Do you have a link where I can look over the alternate diet.
I have started walking for 45-60 mins. I will continue with that and try to keep it at 60mins.
I was going to ask him to start OLE, but wanted to get your opinion on what my husband should be doing to help with the sway. He is a smoker so I think that may work in our favor.

Yes, it's here: https://www.genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/9052-swaying-under-special-circumstances-part-3-pcos.html?highlight=swaying+special+circumstances Just ignore the first few posts as they are PCOS-specific and then scroll down about five posts to where the diets are.
If your hubby smokes that's really one of the best things he does. That and jogging/biking are both proven in studies to sway pink. Most everything else husbands do doesn't seem to help very much if at all. Some people do give their hubbies soy milk 12-48 oz. daily but we don't have any data on if that is effective or not.

I’ve added coffee to my diet in the mornings. I used to always have frapps and super creamy, sugary drinks, but now I’m drinking straight black coffee x1 🙊. I don’t like artificial sweetener so I just take it straight.
Is it ok for me to have a mini coke with my meal as long as I’m within the calories?
atomic sagebrush
July 22nd, 2021, 01:31 PM
Since we want you on the alternate diet you'd want to have diet drinks only but if you must have one, yes, with a meal would be better. Cokes have a lot of sugar.

So I can switch to Diet Coke. Should it be caffeine free or is the caffeine ok? Also, is it ok to have some dairy like cheese on a sandwich? I’ve been reading the PCOS diet, but it was a bit overwhelming. Are there a list of free veggies and fruits?

Caffeine is fine.
Yes, it is fine to have some dairy within the limits.
Does this make it easier: 1500-1800 cals a day, 50-60 g protein and fat, not counting the protein and fat in fruits and vegetables (except beans/legumes that have a lot of protein, and avocado which has a lot of fat, you do count those, but regular fruit and veg you don't). Whole grains only, no white grains. Cut out sugar or limit it strictly. Full fat dairy only, no skim.
Low carb veg - the ones that don't taste sweet and starchy - are free and unlimited, count nothing in them, not even calories, have as much as you want. High carb veg - sweet and starchy things, and fruit, count calories only but not protein and fat.

That does help, thank you!! Just to clarify, whole grain bread, pasta, quinoa, brown rice are fine to have within limits?
I read in the PCOS diet that white rice and potatoes are good to have in the diet. Is that true for what I need to be following ?
atomic sagebrush
July 24th, 2021, 03:27 PM
Yes, within limits.
Potatoes are fine. White rice is ok if you really can't stand the other stuff (it's vastly superior to white bread, cakes, cookies, that sort of thing) or if you don't tolerate brown well, but I would not go crazy eating gobs of just white rice. Have it as an ingredient with stir fries rather than just a plate of plain white rice.

Hi, since I’m
Doing the PCOS diet do you think I would benefit from taking myo inositol?
atomic sagebrush
January 11th, 2022, 01:16 PM
Nope, at your weight you do not need it. You also don't actually have PCOS, but are on the alt. diet due to thyroid stuff, and don't need myo for that reason either.

Is this folate supplement good for me to start on? It’s 1000mcg Methyl Folate

I prefer smaller doses over the course of the day to make sure you are always having some available for absorption. I'd get a 400 and take one in the morning, one at noon, and one with dinner.

Ok. Is the methyl folate the one I need just in smaller dosage?
Also, Ive been tracking my meals and I’m getting around 1200cals 60g of fat and protein and around 70g of carbs. I eat around noon (two slices of 12 grain bread with cheddar cheese, veggies, and Mayo). For dinner, I’ll have quinoa with feta and veggies. I drink crystal light and Coke Zero (2-3 servings) in between to help with hunger and I have a black coffee in the morning. No snacking and no chocolate or treats. Anything I should change?
atomic sagebrush
January 27th, 2022, 04:57 PM
Yes just get a smaller dose of methlyfolate.
Very few people need that little food, are you losing too much weight? Noticing any changes in your cycle?
You do not need and shouldn't take myoinositol.

You are petite so would certainly be in the group that might need fewer calories, but just want to be sure we're not cutting back too far.

I just started this diet so I haven’t lost any weight yet. I’m also not taking anything except methyl folate, and a fiber gummy. Do I need to add anything else?
atomic sagebrush
January 28th, 2022, 01:22 PM
Ok! Just let your weight loss be your guide! If weight flies off, eat more.
No that's what most people take! No need for anything else unless you feel the need to take something (and run it past me first so I can explain why not to take whatever-it-is)

Hi, I am getting close to starting my sway and I wanted to run a few things past you. My husband is 40 and he’s a smoker and will have a beer a few times a week. What frequency would work best for
Us?
Also, what do you think about adding aspirin, spearmint, and rephresh to my
Sway? I’ve been on LE diet since March and have lost 6lb. I’m 110lbs and have 2 meals a day with no snacking. I had added 1 alcohol drink nightly (white claw). I’ve been skipping breakfast too. Please let me know if I need to make any changes to help my sway. Thank you

I would have you guys start off with one attempt, either at positive OPK if you don't believe in timing, or a 2-3 day cutoff if you do believe in timing. If your husband can, you might want to have him release on his own or with you, with a condom, daily for 7-10 days before that one attempt. If he can't, he can just do regular release every 2-4 days and then have the one attempt. DO NOT have him do the abstain, that is not suitable for a man over 35, particularly since he smokes.
Aspirin has not worked, with the same number of people getting boys and girls while using it, and it caused some pretty big and disruptive side effects, that in rare cases could even be fatal. Additionally couple studies are finding that aspirin may actually cause miscarriage in most people (a minority of people with blood clotting disorders are meant to take aspirin, but it is not and never should have been used by the general population as it causes more harm than good.)
Spearmint did not work and has been enormously disruptive to cycles, delaying and even stopping ovulation for many people. I do not recommend it, particularly at your low weight. The only people who may possibly benefit from spearmint are those with a lot of weight to lose (and even then there are far better options than spearmint.)
RepHresh is at your option, even tho it hasn't worked with the same number of people getting boys and girls while using it, and even tho it cuts odds of conception, a lot of people do still want to use it. That's totally up to you!
What's your BMI (or your height, and I can calculate your BMI.) Also, do you know how many calories and how many grams of protein and fat you're eating?
Pink22
August 15th, 2022, 03:25 PM
Ok, great. So as long as we’re using a condom we should be ok
Doing multiple bd’s right? Will it affect my ph at all? We will do 1 unprotected bd in fertile window.
My BMI is 21.3 and I’m eating around 1300 cals. I’m currently taking fiber, folate, and alcohol daily. Also, IF for 12-14 hours, 2 meals a day, mostly vegetarian but will have chicken and fish occasionally. Have limited sweets and sugars a lot. What else do you think I could do or not do?
atomic sagebrush
August 16th, 2022, 03:35 PM
Yes that's right, you can have sex as long as it's protected. Don't worry about pH, it has not worked at all with us finding results all over the map with pH. Most of us don't even bother to test it any more as so many of us had pH opposites (myself included, got a boy with "girl" pH and then when I got my girl I didn't even bother to check it)
Has your cycle stayed normal on that food intake?

Last month was the first time I believe I ovulated early. I get ovulation pain every month that is consistent with my Cm. I had the pains 3 day earlier than expected. I am always regular 28-29 day cycles

Another question, will bding every 2-4 nights not raise sperm count?

Neither O pain nor CM is necessarily indicative of when your ovulation happens to the day.
It is very common to see different patterns with both those things when swaying, so take it with a grain of salt. If your period comes at the same time it's likely you Oed at the usual time regardless of when your O pain happened.

The regular release of every 2-4 days will mean that sperm count is higher than with daily/frequent release, yes. But the important thing is the one attempt. Some men simply cannot do the frequent, daily release of every day, and have to go to the regular release with the one attempt. If you prefer, you can certainly try the FR, but if your husband can't do that, it's still a good option to do regular release with one attempt.
Pink22
August 20th, 2022, 02:56 PM
What about doing every 2-4 nights and then compressed release the day of and having 1 unprotected bd 1 hour after ??
Do you recommend ovulation strips to track exact ovulation day?
atomic sagebrush
August 20th, 2022, 06:59 PM
To what end? You'll cut odds of conception considerably by doing that and there's no evidence that it sways. What I hate to see you guys doing, is do these sway tactics that have never been proven to work, and cut odds of pregnancy considerably, meaning that you will end up trying the one attempt (which does work) and very possibly not getting pregnant with that. Then people will often give up one attempt totally when they really had no chance of conceiving with it due to the strictness of their sway.
Yes, I do recommend OPK to help time that one attempt at a time when you have a reasonable chance of conception (not because it sways) but we honestly cannot and don't need to pinpoint the exact day of O for the one attempt to work.

So I want to add cardio. How long do you think I need to be doing cardio in order for it to sway? I would like to try next month, but is 3 weeks enough to make a difference? I may not get pregnant so I will just continue on in that case, but if I do get pregnant do you think it’s worth it for such a short Amt of time?
atomic sagebrush
August 22nd, 2022, 01:31 PM
I can't say how long you need to exercise to see benefits, so as long as you're not gaining weight on a high protein diet, go ahead and start now. That way if you don't get pregnant you'll get the benefits by next month, and if you do get pregnant, it is entirely possible that you will still get some benefits. At worst it will be neutral as long as you're not gaining weight.
