Hi everyone,
Just got home from our 13 week scan. Would love your thoughts on whether baby is pink or blue! The nub looks girly to me but then later on in the scan the sonographer went down around in a type of potty shot and I thought I saw something between the legs, so now I'm not so sure (didn't get a photo when she went in for the potty shot, she said it was too early to tell)... are potty shots reliable for gender at 13 weeks? If I hadn't seen that potty shot I'd have guessed girly?
I read the nub thread before we went and didn’t take my eyes off the screen as the somographer scanned me, and didn’t see any stacking at all, just those lines (I remember clearly seeing stacking and a little triangle with DS2 at his 12 week scan). Baby was quite curled up during these shots.
Would love your thoughts. I posted this earlier but it had my personal info in the pics so I have created a new thread as the old one wouldn't let me remove the pics.
Would love your thoughts.
Edit: Just talked to DH about the potty shot and he said that was a shot of the baby's head, lol! I’ve included an earlier shot she did of baby’s femurs (legs) in case that gives any clues.

Added some scull shots in case anyone knows anything about scull theory! Xx

Potty shots aren't reliable at 13 weeks.
I feel like the tip of the nub is in shadow in the profile shots and I'd not guess on those anyway, because the baby is not flat as you mentioned. My immediate gut instinct is girl, but I don't have the information to be sure and so it's like 55-45 lean.
The thing you think you see between the legs is at least partly cord. So what you saw on the screen was also probably cord. Plus, people have this vision of girls being smooth like Barbies, but we definitely have "stuff" there and in tiny babies it seems bigger than what we might expect. So when you see something between the legs on girls, it doesn't mean it's a boy, it just means you're seeing that stuff.

Thanks Atomic! I really appreciate your response. I can see what you mean, looks like the rest of the nub is in shadow. And I also know what you mean about baby girls, my cousin just gave birth to a baby girl and I saw a photo of her just moments after she was born, she was very swollen!
The scull looks more softly rounded and the chin more delicate than my older children’s scans.
Anyone else keen to place their guesses?

It can be informative to compare skulls between your own kiddos. Other people's kids are all different enough that it can simply add confusion, but within your family there is ~often~ a visible difference. My daughter's skull and chin were very different from the boys' even tho they all look alike! FXFXFX!!

I’ve only ever had girls myself so have seen quite a few shots at this stage…and I would lean slightly towards it being a girl ;)
Pink dust up you!

Thanks LMSM! I really appreciate your comment! And Atomic, as always, your time and efforts are so appreciated.❤️
I kind of wish I'd asked for an explicit nub shot now  when she took that photo I thought 'oh that's a perfect nub shot and looks girly to me' -- I didn't realise it needed to show the end of the nub too. But then again, I was watching like a hawk and didn't see anything else, so maybe I need to trust my recollection more. Just looked like straight lines.
This is a photo of DS1 at a similar age... his skull looks much more blocky to me? What do you think?

Straight lines are a very encouraging sign. At my 13+6 ultrasound, I saw those long double lines and I was like "I have never seen that before in my life". At the same time, the tech got very excited (they weren't allowed to tell at that stage) and I started to think hmm this may actually be happening!!! I still get goosebumps reliving that in my head! :p

Yes!! I feel like the mid-face area has much more going on, and the head looks 'blocky', and angular, particularly around the forehead.

#1 and #2 seem to have much bigger skulls and foreheads, and more of a pronounced, angled line from the top of their skull / forehead down to their nose? #3 looks softer to me, less of an angle to their forehead and their jaw looks different, what do you think?

I agree, but I do have to mention that (as I was once informed by a lady with ten children) most families have "apples" and "oranges" and then some spares. My first and third boy have similar noses and face shapes, my second boy and daughter have similar noses and face shapes and look the most alike (and I SO WISH I had an ultrasound photo of his face to compare to shed some light since they are different genders, but they didn't give ultrasounds without medical reason when I had him), and then my 4th boy has an entirely different nose and face shape, and is very tall compared to the others - he's swimming in a different section of the gene pool LOL. While I absolutely completely see the differences here and I agree it is very encouraging, it is possible to just have apples and an orange so don't paint the nursery yet!

after 21 years of boys and an absolutely brutal year in 2011, it was pretty awesome, LOL.
I so badly want all you gals to have that moment!
