Edit - OK, I did the reading and.. answered most of my questions (I hope)! Wish me luck :)
Hi everyone :)
Did not think I would be making an appearance here except to check in on old acquaintances, but here we are! One DD who is nearly 6, DS1, 4 and DS2, 2 - both of the DS's are Blue Sways. And me and DH are thinking of adding number four to the crew after all, I thought I'd try a pink sway to even things out - healthy over gender is the most important thing. But I can't imagine TTCing without swaying now, it's part of the fun ;)
So here I am on the other side with all the lovely pink swayers :) I've read the LE diet nutshell version by atomic (TYSM!) and people's descriptions of their sways. I think I am getting a general picture. Some questions remain:
-- cool with skipping breakfast and pretty sure I did that back in the day when we conceived DD, due to rushing to the office and such most days. Started skipping breakfast except for coffee with a bit of skim milk now.
-- cut tea and herbal tea entirely
-- no vitamins since a while now (I forgot/was lazy about getting a refill) and I will follow the folic acid recommendations;
-- understood recommendations about staying within protein and fat suggestions. Read the meal suggestions, thanks for the blanket lists and people sharing what worked for them!
-- Will cut out red meat and whole eggs and nuts for the time being
-- Focusing on cardio suits me to a T as we walk everywhere with kids, plus I bike and run a lot
-- TTC is a ways off for us as I would try to stay on LE for a few months first. I'll take the time to read the suggestions over some more. I got the 'one attempt is gold' pretty much fixed in my mind though;
Thanks so much for everything and I will keep updating - I plan to stick to LE for three months starting about now before TTC.
Best to all :)

Don't worry bout me, I know my way around the forums and your essays are very helpful and informative <3 Quick question left for pink if you have a sec - is it best to grab a pink friendly lube or no lube at all? Thanks <3 (I am reeling over 'no orgasms' here btw)

Hi!
Didn’t expect to see you here so it’s a pleasant surprise :D
Haha you’ve done so well with your 100% success rate on your 2 sways that you’re swaying again ? Yay! :)
Let me know if you want me to send you my “how I made girls” spreadsheet - no doubt there are some girl friendly denominators in that mix with my 4 :)

LMSM posted a thread a while back describing all she did for when she got her girls, you can click on her handle to access the threads and find it. How are you doing? Planning to try for it soonish? Re forums being active or not, I dunno, it depends, I remember some periods when people post a bunch and then less. But you can pay for the private plan and have all your questions answered Pronto, I did that with my first sway. That being said, Atomic has put heaps of info on here already, have you read the nutshell version of the low everything diet?

I'm good - we're going back to France for the 1st time in 5 years in a month's time :D since my fertile window will likely be just as we land, I've decided to defer to the august cycle to give us time to settle, get over jetlag and enjoy the summer and food so that hopefully my body will be in relax, all is good mode :D

I think we’ll be trying from September although that worries me slightly as apparently more boys are conceived in autumn and winter, my boys were conceived in November and January. When will you be swaying? Yes I’ve read about the LE diet and have started making some changes (no breakfast, trying not to snack etc). How is everything going with you? 💖

Hey, that must have been quite the journey! Yes, I am very grateful for what we've had so far, not like the sways but falling pregnant and everything going smoothly; I've a close freind now that I met since my youngest was born, and her second child has a very rare condition and is disabled. It is a daily struggle and lots of work and appointments and bills for them, it's really really unfair. I will absolutely take healthy over sway any day since we're friends with them and I know what that's like.

Before you get going, I wanted to talk to you about the alternate form of LE Diet that we call the "slow burn" or PCOS-type LE Diet. We actually have much better results with that style of diet than the standard LE Diet. I would honestly have everyone use it, but many people can't stick to it and many many more see their weight plummet on that type of diet.
My gut instinct is to have you do a modified LE Diet where we do some things from the alternate diet and other things from the standard. But these questions will help me know for sure how strict we need to be:
What is your BMI?? Do you have any history of gestational diabetes or Type 2 diabetes in your family? Do you gain weight really easily, have trouble losing weight when eating a lot of carbs? Is your menstrual cycle regular most of the time?
RE the milk in coffee, it doesn't need to be skim. In fact if you do go on the alternate diet, you would want to avoid skim milk totally. The LE Diet is about the limits, and within the limits it is ok to have full fat milk or even cream (and in fact some people need to, to get enough fat).
My gut instinct, because I want you to have best possible results, is for you to do half-way in between the standard LE Diet and the alternate one. That would mean you switch to whole grains only (or at least most of the time), have NO skim or part skim dairy, only full fat dairy within the limits of the day, limit sugar (you don't need to cut it out totally unless we decide to do the alternate diet fully, but don't do the "gummy worms for calories" type of mindset some people do on the standard LE). We would change the macros around slightly so you're getting 50-60 g protein and fat.
You can have whole eggs and nuts but keep them within limits. There used to be this idea that eggs were an "eat all you can" for pink sways but that is a very bad idea - that's why there is a warning against eggs. Just as long as you're within limits you can have them. 4-6 eggs a week has been a good guideline.
Since you're not trying for a while, we want you to start off doing higher calories than you think you'll need. We can cut back over time. We don't want anyone to start off too low in calories, lose too much weight, stop ovulating, then have to increase calories to get ovulation going again! Be VERY cautious this first couple months. It's much better to start off higher than needed and cut back than to do the opposite!
Do you have a ballpark figure about how many cals, grams of protein, and fat you're eating or will be eating??
If you email me at atomicsagebrush@gmail.com I can send you some additional diet stuff I have.
EVerything else is looking great!

The pink friendly lubes haven't worked and do really cut odds of conception by a lot. Still, most people do want to try them at least at the start of their sway. I don't think they're necessary, but I do keep them in the mix for those who want to use them because they're so much safer and less "control freakish" than the other pH stuff (which also doesn't work!)

The months of the year are very minor. They're interesting because of what they tell us about how swaying might possibly work with the human body, and sure it's great if it can work out, but I'd not postpone a sway for that reason!
I conceived my daughter in November!

Thanks atomic for your reply. I was looking for anyone else who may be ttc in the next few months for moral support! Also I’m a bit confused after reading your post below re. Whole grains and skim milk. I’ve switched to white bread etc such as bagel thins (I always used to eat wholegrain or seeded bread before) and I’m having skimmed milk as thought this was more pink friendly. My bmi currently is 21.8, no history of diabetes, diet is usually quite carb heavy anyway and menstrual cycle regular. Any advice in dos and donts? Should I follow the slow burn diet? If so can you give me some more info please? Thanks atomic

Hey Atomic,
thanks so much for taking the time :)
I'm tall and have always been skinny-ish and like sport. BMI is 20, just checked. No one ever had diabetes in our family. Always fell pregnant within a month or two of trying. Regarding weight - I can gain and lose some easily enough. I'm not really bothered about what I eat TBH and I'll follow whatever you say works best Boss :) I've tracked what I eat these last days like you explain in your essays and I am at around 1800-2000 kcal a day (depending on activity as also bike and walk several miles daily lugging kids/strollers etc), and 60g both protein and fat which I thought was fair (I would have eaten more normally, this was me cutting it off and then eating steamed zucchinis or whatnot). I also skipped breakfast and went 14 hours+ between dinner and lunch.
(re not getting worked up about what I eat- when I fell pregnant with DD for instance I would have small breakfasts or none and frequently ditch lunch because of work in the office and not be bothered. I put in the effort with all the supps and 9 fruit/veg a day and carbs and protein at every meal etc, though it was counterintuitive. So, just point the way. I've quit tea already lol
Thanks so much Atomic, I'll email you :) Please don't rush on my account, I am genuinely embarrassed about how much you've helped me already <3 God bless you and your family <3

If you think you can stick with the Slow Burn version of the Low Everything Diet without losing too much weight, then yes I'd switch to a more modified version. We are clearly getting better results with the alternate diet. I know it seems counterintuitive but skim dairy seems to negatively impact blood sugar for quite a few people and high blood sugar can undermine an otherwise good pink sway (this would likely not be just from skim dairy in a person with normal insulin response, but for someone who was eating nothing but white bread, skim dairy, and gummy worms, that sort of thing, it might be too much.) I would honestly use the Slow Burn alternate LE Diet for everyone but many people cannot stick to it and many many more will see weight fly off and they do better on the standard.
So continue with whole grains, full fat dairy only (no skim dairy), boost protein and fat to 50-60 g each (from mostly vegetarian sources if possible) BUT because you're on this type of diet only as a preemptive measure, you can continue to have some sugary foods in moderation. This is the modified version that can work for people who don't need to do the full on Slow Burn alternate LE.

I had a BFP in late September, but found out last wwek at 8 weeks that baby's heart had stopped - but I haven't miscarried. I have an appointment with the hospital this morning and hoping I can get them to agree to a D&C asap - with a missed m/c like this, it can take weeks for the body to recognise it and it's been 3 weeks since my baby stopped growing - and can't take it any longer.
I hope I will heal easily and be ready to get back TTC probably early 2024...

Well, I had a BFP! Phew. I was so dedicated to swaying, I hadn't realized pink meant decreased fertility aka more months trying. What a roller-coaster. BFP, then I had a bit of spotting which got me worried as heck. But it seems to have been very small and short lived and had happened with my third as well. So I've calmed my nerves and I am waiting for my first obgyn appointment. I should be about 5/6 weeks along.

Thanks LMSM :) pregnancy is going well so far, fx!! But tired as can be expected being first trimester with 3 kids, but they're bigger now, it's quite ok. I won't know the gender soon though- I'm going in for my first trimester ultrasound in a bit, and in France they tell you the gender at the second trimester ultrasound when they are 100 percent sure - so that's like 12 more weeks away lol. I don't mind the suspense though lol, so far as the pregnancy goes OK

Hi everyone! Realized I haven't updated on here - I'm past 33 weeks and due in September :) and finally, I decided to go team green, so I don't know who we're having. Previous births were very positive experiences, hoping for the same here and to welcome whoever the baby turns out to be with open arms. a close friend is having her third any day now (overdue..) and her second is disabled from birth. Which really makes me be thankful for what I have and fervently accept healthy over gender, God willing.
Best of luck to everyone who is pregnant now or TTC <3 i will update after the birth!

Hi everyone!
One month postpartum already, i better update! It's been so busy. Ill give the long and short versions ;)
The short of it is we have had a sway opposite (!) after going team green (i legit had no idea of the gender till ten seconds after pushing him out) But we love our new guy to bits - in fact i think it's the fastest that I've had from birth and till experiencing the surge of love <3
Long version now, and definitely a trigger warning first - going to go into details about labor and all. This was my fourth pregnancy and fourth labor and definitely the hardest labor (which took me by surprise ngl..) basically all of the previous three, labors were identical - each faster than the previous one - unmedicated and straightforward. I'd dilate till seven cm or so and then go very fast till a ten and ready to push (we are talking 10-20 mins to reach full dilation). And pushing was faster and easier for each consequent baby. This time though dilation was about a cm an hour till 7cm - and then just stagnated at 7 for a few hours while contractions were full on (aaaaarrrrgggh) finally reached full dilation after dilating for hours and was ready to push. Thanks be DS came out in just a couple of puahes, but geez was i exhausted and so over the pain by then. The midwife cheerfully asked DH to announce that it was a boy to me - i was so over labor by then that i didn't care if it was an ape, i was just grateful labor was done and we were both fine <3 i tried to think about it somewhat after - i guess i was surprised as i expected that the sway would work, as did my previous (blue) ones. My analytical side is taking over though and i am really glad i did it though, the sway i mean, for Atomic to keep collecting data - long story short, for various reasons (DH's job schedule and the like) i was panicking when i didn't fall pregnant after two months of trying and pretty sure we had at lesst 3 attempts during month 3 when i did fall pregnant ' and you all know as Atomic said, what's gold for pink swaying is one attempt.
I can't really feel bitter or disappointed though atm - for one, DS3 is a real sweety and we all love him. For another, i had two friends gove birth just before me, one had her 3d and another had her 4th, and each of them have health conditions. I can't help but feel as i try to support them through these seasons how lucky we are, i woild def choose healthy over gender, and i can't imagine how i'd manage an LO with a health condition with no help and DH's very demanding job. As it is, DS3 has been thriving, thank God, and only had his routine health checks so far. He has come along to the appointments and stuff i had for the other kids with no complaints, sleeping through peacefully. So that is a relief. Also of course, i have my DD, and there are plenty of pink swayers here without a single DD who keep trying. I can't help but feel it's best if eavh of them scores one DD especially as some have been at it for years.
And also,.while we have been swamped with comments like 'oh dear, is she (DD) disappointed she didn't get a younger sister?' My DD in actual fact ia very happy to remain the only girl and that the baby turned out to be a boy.
My eldest DS (who no one thought to ask as everyone somehow thinks kids want sibs of the same.gender) is the one who expressed some wistfulness and told me he would have liked a little sister. He came along to see me and spoke to me of 'if i would consider having another later' (i did tell him it could be another boy then). He is fast bonding with the baby though and finds him cute, so that's cool.
So here we are. I really really don't know if I'd try for another - on the one hand we are doing well where we are now. Number 4 hasn't rocked the boat much, we are settling into our routine, and the icky labor is fading into memory. On the other, i feel a bit wistful, like I'd have it in me for one last sway maybe. On another note, none of us are getting younger and i am terrified of the higher risks any consequent pregnancy would have for like side effects and all (i am 36 and DH is 39, so, given I'd have to recover from DS3, we'd be at least 38 and 41). I have never miscarried or had pregnancy issues, but so many of my friends have. (Is there any way to counter this Atomic?)
We are getting into life with 4 kids, recovering from postpartum now. I will keep updating whether we decide to sway again or not in the future. Very grateful for the support on here <3

Congratulations!I am so happy for you!!
Trigger warning (loss )
I was 41 with my healthy baby boy that we swayed for. he was my 4th healthy pregnancy.
We swayed for a girl for our second (my first 3 were with other father) I was 42 I did not take prenatal vitamins and i regret that even if it did not cause any issues. We had genetic testing done because we wanted to know gender and we shocked when they came back with issues. We had to make a huge decision quick and quality of life was going to be a big issue if she survived long enough so we decided to TFMR. Hardest decision I have ever had to make but it was she would be best for her.
Exactly 1 year later we were pregnant again swaying girl with prenatal and folic acid. We got our little girl at age 43 and a half. She is so perfect healthy and strong.
I hope that helps you in any decision when you come to it.
