UPDATE: I had a private gender scan at 16weeks 5 days and found out I'm having a GIRL! Thank you everyone for helping and supporting me on this long journey - especially atomic for sharing her amazing knowledge!

one of my pics looks slightly like yours and i also feel 50/50 about it. some days i feel its more boy and the other im optimistic it may be a girl. i did exactly what your doing and went on ig and was looking at the confirmed pics and thinking the same, ive now put the pics away and focusing on not looking at them now it was taking over my life! Altho im able to go and get a scan to find out the gender im just so scared of being told what it is. even the thought of it makes me feel sick. im just being happy in my little bubble at the minute. hope you get your girl! xxx

Yeah, I'm waiting a while to make a public announcement too. For me it's both the gender issue, and the fact that I won't know the results of my triple screen until 16 weeks. For now only dh, my Mom and my closest girlfriends know. I think I'll have to slowly start telling people I see regularly in person because it's getting too hard to hide my belly, and I think I'll also tell the rest of my family (though probably not the kids yet). I won't be making a FB announcement until I know the baby's healthy and know the gender. I want to avoid all the gender comments too....

I too want to shout girl but I can't with these pics. I think the look of the nub is more girl than boy in the first pic but there is a hint of an angle that gives me pause and the second pic- there is something that looks like a bump but it is too blurry for me to know what I am actually seeing in that one. 50/50 here.

The private places around here won't do a gender scan until 18 weeks, so I'll either do it then or wait for my free scan at 20 weeks. I have a feeling I'll get impatient and pay for the earlier one! How about you? When will you find out?

I also posted over at I-G to get some unbiased opinions since everyone over here is so nice and knows me so well sometimes I worry that it will influence your guesses, and so far everyone over there is slightly leaning girl too. I wish the picture was a very obvious girly one, but since I don't have that I think I'll happily take 'could be a girl' over 'definitely a boy!' ;)

Keep the guesses coming, though - I value them all, even the ones that don't give me the news I want to hear!!

Are you going to find out early at a private U/S place? I am sticking to the 19 weeks at my DR's office. That will be the last week of April. I would like to find out around my birthday, when I'm about 16ish weeks, but the only private place around here cost 90 dollars for 10 minutes and they do mostly 26 weeks + 3D/4D, so I don't think they do gender determination, it wasn't on their menu of prices.

I just posted about this in our due date group, but I found out the private place near me doesn't do gender scans until 20 weeks. Why would I pay for a scan at 20 weeks when I can get one for free then?? Anyway, a place about an hour away from here does them at 18 weeks, and on their website it says 'no guarantees for gender scans prior to 18 weeks', which I think could mean they will do them earlier. I've emailed and am waiting to see what they say. They only charge $60, so if they'll let me get one at 16-17 weeks I may go for it!

I updated elsewhere, but I thought I'd mention here too that the u/s place got back to me, and they'll do a gender scan at 16.5 or 17 weeks, but without guaranteeing the results. It's only a 2D scan - how accurate do you think the results will be? Should I go for it?

I would think that as long as the tech is experienced - which I would trust he/she would be - they should be able to tell. As Canadians, we see those ultrasounds from the US all the time with 16 week gender shots that are clear as day. I had a private scan at 17 weeks and it was clear as day that my little guy was a HE. Maybe girls can be trickier? As long as there isn't a bunch of cord down there, you'd think they should be able to tell.

I bumped your post over on IG as well. If you are so inclined - you could alter your title to try and get Nicholerh's guess. She is a tech and accurately guessed my little guys tricky nub a couple years back. She's still pretty active over on IG and it seems like she rarely gets it wrong (or will at least give you a percentage guess of how confidant she is).

That's great about the potential 16/17 week ultrasound! I had mine done at exactly 16 weeks and it was very clear. They've also only ever looked at the potty shot in 2D, even at 27 weeks! I would definitely go for it!

Have you asked Coldwater or Foxy to have a look at your photos - both techs?

Weird...definitely sounds like IG gremlins - last I looked there were a couple of pages of responses! A few people have said they can't see the pictures, but I have no idea why because everyone else can see them.

Thanks again everyone for all the encouragement. I'm really scared to get my hopes up - I feel like I need to protect myself by assuming it'll be a boy until proven otherwise. I had a very, very strange birth dream last night where at the last moment I decided to have an unassisted home birth. All went well - it was an almost painless labour (I wish!) and I gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Then...this is where it gets weird. Fast forward to two days later and I suddenly realise I'd gotten busy with the other kids I'd completely forgotten about the baby and hadn't nursed him even once! After a frantic search for him, we found him in the same room I'd given birth in (in my Mom's house, for some reason), and he was a DOLL and not a baby! The whole dream freaked me out.

I think I'm going to schedule my private u/s for 17 weeks - they'll only do it after 16.5 weeks anyway, so I might as well wait for the Saturday when it will be easier to get there, and I'll be exactly 17 weeks that day. The next 4 weeks feel like they're going to last forever. I'm really scared to get my hopes up it may be a girl, especially since I've gotten a few boy guesses on IG and most of the people saying girl are only giving it a slight girl lean. I can't even express how excited I'll be if I see girly bits at the scan! I'm scared to even hope it's going to happen.

I think all the similarity in skulls tells you is that they are all your babies!

My boys all look highly similar on ultrasound, as did my niece.

Don't stress too much about the skull shape Mocha! It seems like its appearance can change from looking flatter to more rounded depending on the angle the tech is at.

I'll be en route to my Mom's house when I get the scan (we have to drive a while to get there, but luckily it's on the way), so I'll be able to announce the gender to my family...or not if I hear boy and need some time to process the news. I won't tell anyone I'm going, except maybe my Mom. At least a weekend away immediately afterwards will be a good distraction if I don't hear the news I want to hear....

Yeah, I often wish I'd never heard of a nub. It really drives you crazy, especially when SO much of it is guesswork and also depends on the angle the shot was taken.

With my first pregnancy, even though I DESPERATELY wanted girls, I somehow lasted the whole pregnancy without finding out...and it was TWINS! Looking back, I have no idea how I did that - but then again, that's long before I found out about nubs, gender desire, etc. With DS3 I remember being impatient, but nothing like this. I knew about nubs by then since I was a regular on IG, but he had a crappy nub shot so no one really could guess - I think that was a blessing in disguise, and I didn't even try to get an early gender scan with him - I just waited until 20 weeks.

This time the wait is TORTURE. Getting so many girl guesses (especially the ones from the 3 techs both here and elsewhere) has really gotten my hopes up, and I'm sooooo scared my world's going to come crashing down around me if I don't end up hearing girl. How I envy people who get pregnant and genuinely don't care what gender they have!

I just wanted to let you all know that your support means a lot to me :HH:. I know that you're all pulling for me to hear girl, and I also know that you'll all be there for me if I hear 'boy'. It's nice to be part of a community of people who understand. :HH:

I haven't told anyone in real life about the date of my scan other than my mom and DH - I just didn't want to have to face emails asking about the results if it does end up being a boy. Part of it is that I know some of my friends will be privately smug if it's a boy since they all think we shouldn't be having another baby, and those who knew about the swaying thought I was INSANE. I sooooo badly want to prove them wrong by having a girl. I joined this site almost a year ago, was on the LE diet for a total of about 6 months, and so this has been a looooong journey full of sacrifice and heartache. PLEASE let it all have been worth it!!!! :pray:

My Mom and I went out shopping tonight. The only thing that was open late enough was Joe Fresh - a Canadian clothing store chain that's located inside grocery stores (it's nicer than it sounds). I found tons of 3-6 month winter clothes on sale (including some cute Christmas stuff) for about $3-4 a piece. I think my Mom had as much fun as I did - she paid for it all! :bigsmile:

She is, nicoler. She has been very hesitant and almost distant through this whole process. She knew about the swaying and worried about me because of that, but I think her biggest worry was that she'd have to see my heart broken again like when I found out ds3 was a boy. When I told her it was a girl today she cried, and tonight while shopping she was the one who kept piling more clothes into my arms. I think she wanted me to have a girl almost as much as I did - she just never would have told me ;). She had 3 boys then a girl too, so somehow I feel this is all how it was meant to happen. I love that my little girl will grow up with 3 big brothers just like I did :HH:.

Me too :o. I miss her so much, but I know she's watching us from the heavens. She was an amazing mother and we were so close :awe:. I only hope my daughter and I as close one day (she's my mama's girl so far - let's hope it stays that way lol), and I hope you will have an amazing mum/daughter bond too ;)

Me too. I'm overwhelmed by all the support I've gotten, and it really made me braver going into my u/s knowing I had so many people cheering me on. :HH:

I haven't told them yet. I was going to wait to tell them until my 20 week u/s so I could be sure about the gender, but I don't think I can wait that long! They have all told me they want a baby sister :HH:. I'll be telling the rest of my family this weekend, so maybe I'll tell them at the same time.

I'm still not making any public FB announcements, though - I haven't even announced I'm pregnant there yet! I'm waiting until all my test results come in and I know the baby's healthy before I do that.
