How exciting for everyone!
I am still not finding out. I feel like one is def a boy, the other could go either way. Sweetsister, I used preseed too, there was no way to avoid it with the clomid, it was impossible without it! I hope it didn't ruin the sway either.
Are you all feeling any movement? I am starting to panic again like something happened to them b/c I was feeling little pokes every once in a while and now I haven't felt anything for days. Kinda freaking me out! The worry never ends!

I used preseed too...I wasnt taking Clomid but I did take soy isoflavones which works kinda the same way....My cm dried up totally and I had to use something...I still have no feeling either way about the sex of the baby, but I wouldnt be surprised if it was another boy....I do see lots of girls conceived with preseed....2 of my friends used it and had baby girls...dont count yourself out yet :)

I have not felt much movement yet. Yesterday I did for sure and that was really the first time I could say with certainty that is what it is. Seems late but I have an anterior placenta so was told that I would probably feel it late.

I had anterior with my first son and it was totally different!! I didn't feel hard kicks at all more just bubbles and hiccups! Then my 2nd was post and wow! What a difference! I found him annoying lol!!

Oh ladybug and Amari that makes me feel better you guys also used it:) I guess your right,we wouldnt have gotten pregnant without it either.
Ladybug are you finding out gender? When is your next scan?
I get too many scans with my doctor, every appointment is a scan ,and i go every 2 weeks then every month after next appointment. Thats one reason it is hard to wait to find out gender it is kinda obvious when you get so many chances to peek, and the fact that DH doesnt want to wait!
Amari i feel like you are having two girls:) your photos havent gender clues, but i just feel they are girls:awe:

Sweetsister-Thanks for the encouragement! I am getting scans like crazy, every regular OB, b/c they check the heart rate that way with twins, and I have to go to a specialist every couple of weeks in addition b/c they monitor the cervix. So, it will be hard not to find out by I'm still going to try! Can't wait to find out what you're having! FX!

Sweetsister- I know the socks are irresistible! Like I said, I got all misty eyed thinking "how many times have I gone to sales and seen all these adorable girl clothes.. I finally get to buy them!! For me!!" I hope you will be doing the same soon!
Butterfly - yes, I agree. Kids clothes retail are just way too expensive - resale, thrift and garage sale is the way to go! I can say though that it gets much harder to find good used boy clothes after 12 months size. I think boys are just naturally rougher on their clothes!

I haven't bought anything for the littlest guy yet, but that's because I have sooooo many boy clothes, some still with tags. But I do think he needs things of his own, you know? I don't want everything he has to be clothes passed on from his older brother.
I'm getting more used to the idea that he is a he. I kicked around the idea of PGD after this pregnancy, but on the other hand I really want my body back, you know? It's a hard decision to make. Like I said, right now I'm just trying to enjoy this pregnancy. I have just started to feel the little guy move around. Just some little flutters, but it makes everything seem more real.
Oh, and is anyone else huge? I am HUGE.

So we leave tomorrow for our big camping trip. We live in the midwest and my family pretty much all lives in Florida. I have not seen them since I was 12 weeks at my nephews wedding. The one where they kept making comments about how much they wanted a girl - at the time making me feel like I was heading to dissapoint the whole world!! Anyway, we are camping in the Smoky Mountains and they will be driving up, we will be driving down. It is basically my whole family - brothers, sisters, their kids and my parents. We ordered a cake that says "It's A Girl!" which we are going to be bringing with us. They have no idea that I know. They think I am waiting until the 20 wk ultrasound. My 8 year old DS wants to be the one to give it to them. It will be in a box and he is going to tell Grandma he has a present for her. When she opens it, she will see the cake and what it says. Hopefully, we will have a little party after that - I bought these really cute "It's a girl" cake plates and napkins with pink zebra stripes. I am excited but feeling oddly really nervous. I know it is going to be a little emotionally overwhelming. I also have been looking back at the pics and videos "just to make sure..." I would hate to have this big hoopla and then call after the 20wk US to say "uh, sorry guys, it was a mistake"

That's why we're not telling anyone the gender...I'll find out to prep but only DH and I will know. I still haven't told anyone other than our immediate family that we're pregnant! lol

Hi pregnant ladies! I've just been on holiday for a week and enjoyed catching up on this thread. We've had a lovely time on the Cornish coast and I was so relaxed, I'm sure I'm feeling the beginnings of fluttery movement! Not wanting to get over-excited but I'm pretty sure the nausea has gone at last - hardly had anything at all, and nothing past the middle of the week - AND the fatigue seems to have lessened too. I'm not up to full power, but much better except that I'm getting twinges of SPD already. It was AGONISING in my last pregnancy so I'm a little anxious about that.
It sounds like everyone here is doing really well, apart from Amari's sickness - how awful for you, though you sound very matter-of-fact about it! Very excited about the scans coming up over the next few weeks - I don't have anything till 3rd August. And Sweetsister's is tomorrow - all the best to you!
Love your new stash of pink, flowery clothes NeedAGirl! I have some bits of fabric that I've been storing for years to make dresses for my daughter. Let's hope I can use them soon!
Happy, healthy pregnancy wishes to you all!

Sweetsister how did your u/s go?
My doctor got a new ultrasound machine, and was having a specialist Tech there showing her how everything works,of all the days!Well she said she had an idea ,but it was too early,She isnt the type to guess until she knows for 100%,which im glad ,i would hate to think one thing and then find out another, and i was also having contractions and my uterus was like a rock,so it was difficult to see,i swear it was from the new machine it was so heavy the roller and almost painful?Does that ever happen to anyone ,?My doctor said it was really heavy the roller bit too?Anyhow im on Magnesium for the contractions, which she says is due to stress, and she said i can come back in 10 days,so Wed and we can see for sure, and use the 3d as well.
Im kind of glad because for sure i wouldnt beleive it either way if she did say,it was too early,so one more week...

At my appointment this past Monday the nurse asked if I had any problems 'down below.' Seriously? I'm a grown up, lady! I've had sex! You can call it my 'vagina' or 'vaginal area!' I wish I had said, "Yes. I've been having a lot of problems with my feet lately," to see how she would react.

Yes, the only thing I would recommend is to keep the clothes in a tied up bag in the freezer for a week just to ensure that bedbugs or their eggs will be killed if they are in the clothes. We have an epedemic in the USA. DH and I always try to do that, and then we wash them before letting the kids wear them. Because I just can't imagine an infestation of those nasty horrible bugs. :(
And I agree with you that boys are much harder on their clothes!

Blah, I have been MIA for a while. We had our big trip and big reveal which was great. When my mom opened the cake and read "It's A Girl!" she literally started screaming like a little girl! LOL! Our trip was wonderful - really relaxing. We were camping in the Smoky Mountains. For the most part, my nausea stayed away - just little waves here and there.
My 5 year old got sick the second to last night with a cough and fever. He laid around the whole next day which is way out of character for him. What sucks big time is that on our drive home, I started coughing. By midnight I had it full blown - fever, chills, cough and the most God awful body aches. I could barely walk - my knees, back, feet, legs were killing me. When I got home I called the dr and they had me go to urgent care last night. I was diagnosed with Influenza - in July. Go figure. Apparently, the season was really late. I did have a flu shot but it was back in September. So they have me on Tamiflu as the pregnancy makes me "high risk." The fever seems to be going away thank God but I still feel like crud and the cough is getting worse. This is the first time I am out of bed today. I was supposed to work today but obviously that is not happening. Luckily I have Tuesdays off. Grr.. I am too busy to be sick!

yuzu - it has been horrible. I have basically been lying down for 4.days unable to do anything. I have been missing work which sucks because I was out all last week for vacation. I have been trying really hard to keep my temp under 100 as I am scared it will hurt the baby. On top of that, yesterday my temp kept going up despite max dose of tylenol. I was developing a sinus infection. Went back to dr and more I an on antibiotics in addition to tamiflu. ds1 started with a fever and cough yesterday afternoon too. I couldn't fall asleep until 2am because my face hurt so so bad, like someone just punched me really hard. As soon as I fell asleep ds2 woke up screaming and crying with a fever and ear pain. Gave him tylenol but he continued to cry out about every 20 min all night long. I was seriously about to lose it this morning. The only saving grace is that maybe the antibiotics are working. my temp was still about 100 this morning but with tylenol is actually normal now. Guess I'll see when it wears off. My face is still killing me though. I am hoping to be somewhat functional today.

Hurray!! I am so happy to hear of all these healthy and happy babies!!
BaaBaa I am sorry you didn't hear girl but you have a great attitude and you just know that baby is going to be extra special!
IrishMom - you sound like a great mom and in love already which is awesome!
SweetSister - have fun! Girl shopping is so much fun. I think I am still in shock. Hard to believe it's real!
Pearl - 2 girls! That really is a dream come true! I secretly wanted twins but I think DH might have had a mental breakdown - ha! He is a stay at home dad.
I am feeling loads better. Still not 100%. I seriously don't think I have been so sick in my life. I honestly think that being on the LE diet for 5 months and losing so much weight before getting pregnant weakened my reserves. I always joke with my co-workers that I never get sick. In 5 years, I have only called in sick 1x before this week. I guess I got all the sickness due me at once. It set me back for sure but hope I can be on the mend soon. Baby is moving and kicking around a lot now - you can actually feel it from the outside and even see my belly bopping when she kicks. So much fun!

All this talk about gestational diabetes must have motivated me. Went to the gym today. It has literally been over a year since I went to the gym. I was in good shape, lifting weights and all that until May of 2011 when I stopped all exercise in prep for my sway. Felt odd but good to be back there. I was trying to really take it easy though since I am so out of shape!!

Hi All, I'm coming pretty late to this thread. I'm due 7th Dec. I didn't sway as such but the circumstances of conceiving this one were totally different from my two boys. I am a really laid back person, Never stressed. Was very chilled conceiving my other two. I never miss breakfast, love salt, and bananas. And I DTD on the day of ovulation both times. My symptoms were extreme tiredness, bad skin, even more laid back than usual (husband was very happy) and a lot of weight gain. But that was from overeating to cope with tiredness and I never had any sickness at all.
This one was totally different. I was in a horrifically stressful job and was in fight or flight mode for 6 months. I was actually crying the night we DTD due to the stress. I wasn't eating breakfast ever, because I didn't have time, and was losing weight. I drank copious amounts of diet coke because the machine was near my desk and I didn't have time for anything else. My diet was totally different as well. We did it once that entire month because we were so tired, my husband hadn't released in over a week and we DTD on a Thursday, and I got ovulation pains on Saturday night, Sunday morning.
I almost vomited at a meeting 10 days later. I was so sick, so at lunch I got a pregnancy test, and it was negative. I felt really sick again the next day and went to my mams where I usually eat and eat and I couldn't touch anything, so I did another test and it was positive. I lost 7lbs in the first 10 weeks from sickness, and I'm 20 weeks and have only put on 7lb so far! So I'm back to where I was whei conceived. I feel really really hormonal! The same feeling as when I was on the pill in my early 20s. Just really irritable. The sickness stopped out of nowhere on week 16 and I'm getting my appetite back. A huge difference in this pregnancy are my nails. I have terrible nails and my husband always slabs me about it, during my last two pregnancies they were way better than normal, this one they're worse. I can find out on July 31st in my anatomy scan, but I'm still in two minds. Some days I think I'll be fine with another boy announcement, And the next i just dont think i will be. I know I'd be perfect once the baby is born so even though I really really want to know, it might be better to wait:(

Thanks sweet sister, I won't be very good with advice. I got the epidural both times, but almost missed it the second time. So I'm hoping this one doesn't come too soon. It's brilliant if you can do it because any of my friends who have say it's seriously painful but you feel much better afterwards.
Best of luck with the birth, I try not to think about it and just go with the flow on the day.

Well even if i wanted to have an epidural it would be difficult,i mean its easier for me without it,i dialate from like 3 to time to give birth in less than 3o mins when its time.
I wish i could go with it,im a control freak and have to plan everything out, thanks though i really should try to let go as you say and just go with the flow :)

OMG - anyone else having bizarro dreams?? I have been having weird dreams ever since finding out I was pregnant . None have been pregnancy or baby related just weird. BUT the dream I woke from this morning takes the cake!! Ok - wacky alert - be warned.
I find myself in my living room, sitting on my sofa. I am manually expressing one breast into a bottle. I start to think that I really shouldn't be doing that as I know it can cause premature contractions but I am surprised to find that I seem to have real milk not just colostrum. (just wait, gets weirder.. lol) Suddenly my mom and sister walk in - they live far away and are not planning to visit until baby is born. But, my mom is holding a tiny brand new baby and says "why dont you just nurse the baby?" I look down at my belly and realize I am no longer pregnant but I have NO idea how this baby got here. She hands me the baby and I am staring at it like it is an alien. My mom, sister and DH exchange worried looks. I am really confused but the poor baby looks really hungry and so I start nursing. I unwrap the little blanket and see the baby is a boy! I blurt out - "this is not my baby". So now they think I have really lost it and my mom sits next to me trying to reassure me or something. I start to say - "no, really! Mom, do you remember me being in labor?? Where is the midwife? Do you remember her being here? And why is it a boy??" She thinks for a moment and no one can recall these things either. Suddenly DH looks out the window and there is this freaky black car in the driveway. When it sees him looking, it speeds off. I come to this conclusion and blurt out "I've been drugged and they stole my baby!" Then I woke up. Crazy!! No???
Now I am not one that thinks that every dream has a meaning but if this one does I have no idea what it is!!

I think you are right, Amari. I know it is but seems so surreal! The nice thing though was when I saw it was a boy for a split second I was ok with it... Until I realized it wasn't my baby! Ha ha.. My kooky brain, I swear!
Sweet, I have super fast births. 1st was 3 hrs, second was 1 hr 1.min! However, every third birth of everyone I know was unpredictable and did not follow the pattern so I am fully expecting a longer labor this time. all my babies were born at home so obviously no pain meds.

Needagirl: that's so weird but I've been having mad dreams as well and really vivid like that! I blame the hormones haha!!
Sweetsister: I know it's easier said than done but I just try to focus on the fact that it's a necessary evil, it's over so quick that there's no point in worrying, it's not going to change the outcome, it just wastes energy :)
Gender Scan Update: Anyway I had my scan yesterday and IT'S A GIRL! I can't believe it, I'm over the moon :) I had such a different pregnancy from conception to symptoms but I still couldn't picture a tech saying those three words. I almost broke down in tears and did in the car. Please God everything goes well now.

Ok I am hearing all you awesome ladies talk about no pain meds, I was thinking about going the no epidural route this time because I feel like crap after the epidural wears off. How do I do it??? My first labor was 18hrs, 2nd was 8hrs, so they aren't too long but definitely not short.
sweetsister
August 1st, 2012, 03:14 PM
dloui ,i havent had an epi so cant say but ive heard it slows down your labor, and as for me usually when i am able to get one it is when it is the most painful,if you just hold on from that point, usually its time to push and bang ..it goes so fast ..for me anyways,i really believe if i got one it would take longer, maybe somehow my body feels the pain and says(o.k. enough of this lets get this over)
My first birth was better (sort of ) than my second because i had to get my water broken by the doctor bcause it was taking too long and that was way worse than it happening naturally! And relaxing through the contractions helps alot, thats why i like to prepare mentally, because i believe it helps the pain to relax into it,for me anyhow :)

I have had 3 epidurals and I have to say they have been great. I never felt any pain with my births. My last labor was 2 hours so I don't think it slowed things down at all. I'm always a little nervous about having the procedure/insertion done though. It does stink that it takes some time before you can walk after the birth. I give you all natural moms a lot of credit though, I"m a big wimp when it comes to pain.

Frankly, I love epidurals! I told the doctor to give me one today and I would just keep the drugs going until labor in December. He wouldn't do it. Spoilsport!
The epidural had with DS3 wore off pretty quickly, and I was able to walk around almost immediately. I think it may depend on the doctor giving it.

I delivered my first 2 kids 100% drug free and felt great AFTER it was all over. I did love being able to get up and move around etc.
With #3 I had an epidural. I was stalled at 6 cm overnight (walking ALL night long) and it took me to 10 cm within 2 hours. easiest delivery ever. It almost seemed too easy. I get great satisfaction from pushing a baby out and I feel i missed out on that. I was up and walknig within an hour. Was very, very easy.
With #4 he was breech so I had to have a c-section....felt gutted like a fish. Hated the long recovery.
So I am hoping to have a VBAC with this one and will have the epidural since each delivery hurts more each time and then I'll have it ready if I end up with any complications....well, that's the "plan".
So I am for them if you feel you need it!...and there is nothing wrong with needing it. ;)

Wow! How are you twin moms feeling? I feel like by the end of the day my gut is so huge already that I am having twins!! I saw the midwife this week and I am measuring about 3 weeks ahead! DS#1 was 7lb7oz, DS#2 was 8lb6oz so I have been joking forever that if I ever had another baby, it would be 9lb5oz. I think she is headed there!!

Needagirl you look really gorgeous, I'm usually slim but when I'm pregnant I look huge. I have a flat stomach and small boobs normally even after the boys. I put on weight on my bum and arms, so I usually dress for that shape, when I'm pregnant that goes out the window and i just look yuk!! I always get a rounder face as well, I always look at pregnant women like you with envy haha!! At least it's temporary.
I'm finding names really difficult any nice girl suggestions? I'm 36 and have loads of cousins and nieces and nephews. I have 7 close girl friends from childhood and we all have kids, all the good names are gone:) I thought about boys names the whole time and I actually think there are lots of nice ones but because I haven't been considering a girl I don't know where to start!

Hi ladies, so nice to hear you taking about deliveries:) time is flying ........I had this same question in my mind about epidural (do or not?) I had it both times and this time I was thinking maybe to go without any meds, but then having twins scares me a lot . Any suggestions? I am hoping that 3rd delivery will be easier and faster. Also, with this pregnancy i am experiencing short of breath and feeling tired all the time :(((

I guess for me it is not so much the epidural itself but rather the cascade of necessary things that have to/usually happen after the epidural that I don't like. You cant move much - which does not at all help a baby who might not be in a good position and can slow labor, you almost always have to be given pitocin - which can stress baby and cause heart rate decelerations, you have to be on the continuous monitor - which can be wrong and has been shown to increase the risk of c/s, the epidural itself can give you a fever - which usually means antibiotics that can lead to thrush, yeast infections and nursing problems, if you get a fever your baby is likely to be given antibiotics and be monitored in the NICU just to be sure she is not infected, you have to have a catheter - again risk of bladder infection, antibiotics, etc. I have seen those women who the epidural can be a Godsend - those who are really tense, not dilating well and are exhausted but I really do believe that our bodies were made for having babies. The simple fact that we are on this planet means our moms, our grandmas, our greats and so on were really good at having babies!!

I'm not positive what I will do about the epidural, I think if I get to a point were I can't handle it then I will get it and if I can deal through the pain then I won't

When it comes to epidurals, I'm all for a woman's choice. If you want one that's okay; if you don't, that's okay too. The problems come when someone else pressures you to do one or the other. I saw an episode of 'A Baby Story' in which the woman really wanted some pain relief (her first baby and she didn't anticipate how badly it would hurt) and her husband was really giving her a hard time about it. Like, yelling at her. And she was crying and saying, "Please somebody help me." It broke my heart. She finally got her epidural, but her husband called her a quitter. I wished for a moment I had been her, because I would have popped him one in the mouth. Seriously.

Whoa, most of those complications from an epidural rarely happen. lol. But I am all for the mom chosing whatever feels right for her. I liked it both ways. Deliveries are all so different each and everytime. No one knows what is going to happen.

Can someone please tell me what happends after an epidural??????? I had a natural birth first time ( just gas ) it was 7 hrs but it was soooooooo painful!!! I am actually having major anxiety over labour and my ob has told me she wants me to have an epi straight away which I was happy with but whats the go after labour??? FREAKING OUT AGAIN!!!!!
It was my choice right from the start of DS#1! I was having contractions that kept getting worse and I just decided that I didn't need to prove anything to anyone! So I was done. Once they got that epidural in I was absolutely on cloud 9!!! Numb from the waist down feeling SO happy and relaxed.. and they put a catheter in because that is just what they do, but the luxury is you don't have to get up and pee! They put an oxygen mask on me to make sure I was breathing alright and that was fine. The only thing the epidural gives me each time is the chills but they always let DH hop in bed and warm me up until I stop shaking..LOL. Other than that it's fine, and it's the only way I will ever go!.. It was still A LOT of work to push out DS#1..and hour and a half of straight pushing.. I can't imagine if I would have had horrible contractions to go along with his birth. I do remember that after I pushed DS#1 out my breasts were itching pretty badly.. now I don't know if that was from the epidural or just my body pushing me to nurse immediately.
With DS#2 I was dialated to a 4 when I arrived at the hospital so they broke my water and then very soon in went the epidural. DS#2 labor was harder to deal with because I had Strep B and my labor stopped so they had to give me the devil drug pitosin..and they gave me 2 bags of Pit after my LABOR and delivery with DS#2 I will NEVER take that drug again. It's funny, they give it to you so you don't hemmorhage.. but I bled many weeks after DS#2
DS#1 no pitosin.. stopped bleeding in like 2 weeks! Oh well..
It's every woman's choice. But my choice will always be the epidural! LOL

My ob said because I had a straight forward labour and it was pretty quick that I should be ok to have an epidural. It took me 1 hr and 15mins to push my ds out and I only had gas! Its just my pregnancy is going so so fast and I am staring to freak out a bit.. I will get the epidural because I need to experience it for myself and everyones reactions are different. When it actually comes to pushing can you feel anything down there??

I don't think you should worry about getting the epidural, if you want it you should go for it, as for me when I was pushing I didn't feel anything when I had the epidural

I know several of you saw the U/S post I put up for my neice, the one who is due 2 weeks after me.. most guesses were boy (as was my own guess) but I was hoping and she was hoping for a girl. She just had her 20 wk today and it is def another boy. I think she is happy with it now as all the boy guesses helped her get used to the thought. It is hard not to project a little bit of GD - I should remember that lots of people are happy with same gender kids.

The only side affect I had on the epidural was itchiness. I get really really itchy all over, it's so uncomfortable. But not as uncomfortable as the pain :) I do agree it's a woman's choice.
The mid-wife at the antenatal class I went to before my DS1 was born was so funny. She was a real Irish country nurse and had been delivering babies for 25 years. She said that the majority of us wouldn't have straight forward births, and despite what we think the hospital didn't give awards or plagues for the most natural birth haha!! She said do what you feel is right for you and the safest thing for the baby but you won't be getting a year's free medical care or a medal. So I took the pain relief :) I still think it's great if you don't have to take it, I just don't want to be that soldier.
Congratulations on the new little boy joining your family Needagirl! :bluecheer:

Ugh, had a bad appt yesterday. Blood pressure was high and found protein in my urine. Have to do a 24 hr urine collection and lots of blood labs tomorrow. I was seeing my favorite Nurse Practitioner but have to see doctors only from now on and have to go back in a week for a BP check. :( I'm stressd now. This is way too early for pre-eclampsia. I cried last night, alot.

Fivebabies, I'm so sorry to hear that you're having troubles. What exactly does protein in the urine indicate? A reduced kidney function? Try not to stress, because that can raise your blood pressure.

Thanks! I can't remember the top # but the lower was 94...not horrid but not good! I usually have low BP and did have a touch of pre-e with my 1st baby at the very end. Like the last 4 weeks. Way worse swelling and BP though. I'm trying to put it out of my head until I hear what the tests say.
Thanks!

The data on preeclampsia is sooo limited even after all these years. Dr. Brewer, way back when, had the "Brewer diet" which did seem to reduce pre-e and I have seen several women who started the Brewer diet after developing some higher BP and it seemed to prevent them from going into all out pre-e. A big componenet of the Brewer diet is high protein. Have to wonder if being on a girl diet made your protein lower than your other pregnancies. Also, he stressed dairy consumption. Since then, calcium has been link to lowered risk. There is not much you can do but I would def increase your calcium and protein intake. Wont hurt.

Hey ladies - been MIA and just enjoyed catching up on 10 pages of posting! Wow - lovely news all round!
I am so hopeless at remembering names and so on, especially during this pregnancy (and I have flu and am just finishing a major decorating/decluttering project so am pretty zonked) so many apologies for not doing personal congratulations! Love the way so much swaying has worked and that those with the opposite gender to their hopes are still so in love with their little beans.
My update is a bit nondescript really. We had the 20 week scan about a week ago and I told the tech that I didn't want to be told the gender but I wasn't averse to spotting it for myself if it worked out that way, so not to hold back on any potty shots. That way I kind of felt I'd know if I was meant to know. Well, I did watch very carefully and there were some accidental potty shots and I think she deliberately showed me a longer shot at the end too. No sign of any dangly bits that I could see, but I'm ok with being wrong on that. I had a pretty poor viewing angle anyway, and I was so in love that I don't think my scrutiny was perfect. Plus I'd got myself in a bit of a worried state that my baby wasn't growing properly so I was just awash with relief to see a healthy bean measuring right on track and looking delicious.
It was interesting reading your comments about birthing. I'm a hypnobirthing mamma but not because I have a strong feeling against epidurals etc. It just really suits me and my mindset about life and my beliefs. But I'm VERY much in the camp that you respond to what is happening rather than get bloody-minded and stick to a plan whatever. DS1 was a looooong induction (5 days), epidural and ventouse. DS2 was a loooong prodromal labour (5 days) and hypnobirthing till they tried to send me home because I didn't look like I was in full labour (yes dear, that's called self-hypnosis) and I panicked a bit. Then it was gas & air and hypnobirthing and just the most amazing experience. I'm hoping for a fully natural birth this time, but I won't be disappointed if it doesn't go to plan.
Hoping you are all staying healthy and that your worries about pre-eclampsia can fade away fivebabies.
Anyone having any SPD? I'm getting hints, but been so busy painting and decorating and sorting stuff that I haven't done anything about it like start the essential exercises [blush]. Staying active has probably helped though!

Hey there Gentle, glad you are doing well! (and that US sounds promising for sure!)
This morning the boys and I went to the farmer's market. We walked over to a smoothie truck and a mom was there with 2 boys, ages 5 and 3. She looked at me and the first thing out of her mouth was "Do you know what you are having?" I had to laugh - I know just how she feels! After I told her it was a girl she said "I was sure he was a girl until the ultrasound.. then it was obvious." She paused for a second and looked down at her little guy and then put on a happy face and said "Oh well, now I have 3 great boys!" Funny how universal this whole GD thing is. I asked her if she was going to have more but she said she was done. I wanted to be able to share the LE diet and all the great stuff we know with her!

NeedAGirl!, not that I don't love my sister's last child (her 4th boy), but if I had known about this swaying stuff before when she was pregnant with him, I would have def. shared my info with her to see if she couldn't get her girl last, not that it would have been a guarantee, but I feel for my sister, and it would have been fun to see if it had worked or not for her.

August 13th, 2012, 07:52 PM
Sweetsister - it will almost definitely move. (As long as it was not actually crossing the cervix.) After 20 weeks, the lower segment (area closest to cervix) is what expands as babe grows. As it expands it lifts upward taking the placenta with it. I have very rarely seen anyone who still had a low lying placenta at 30 weeks.
Oh, and I have lots of contractions daily. I actually think it is slightly less than with my boys but here every day many times per day.

Sweetsister, with ds1 my placenta was over the cervix at the 12wk and 20wk scans so i had to have a late one to determine whether I'd need a c-section. By 36 weeks it was moved out of the way. They told me that it often does move.
Yeah, I liked the hypnobirthing programme. I bought it off ebay so not full price but I think it is worth it if you know you can commit to doing the exercises. You have new tracks to listen to each week (listen daily lying or sitting undisturbed) and should try to set aside 30-40mins to do them properly but I rarely could. I tried to listen properly once then put them on my ipod as I was going to sleep each night. This seemed to work fine, but I can see there would be a benefit is practising more carefully. It is just so amazing to get to the stage where you can induce anaesthesia quickly and get yourself calm in seconds. There is a lot of information in the scheme too, weekly reading - 5-10 pages A4. I read it with a little cynicism (I always wonder what the "other" side would say) and took from it what was useful and positive without buying into some of the more way-out things. And I felt like some of the nutrition stuff was a bit dated. But one of the great parts is a daily track called "affirmations" - the only one you can listen to any time. I was a bit of an English cynic about whether they would make any difference but they did - really helped me stay positive during the pregnancy. Plus there is a yahoo group where you get brilliant support from one of the scheme creators and experienced and new mammas alike.

I'm not having any contractions at all, but then, I didn't really with the previous pgs. My placenta this time is right behind my belly button which feels a bit weird... I can almost work out the shape of it! It does mean I only feel movement down low, and not at all over my tummy. I hope that changes so the boys can feel baby kicking!

HI, girls. HOpe all is well with everyone! I too have contractions lots! Irritating but ok!
So I have a question for you all..
So, as you all know, I am pregnant with twins and swayed girl. I am not finding out what I am having. I go to a specialist office every two weeks in addition to my OB because they measure my cervix and the twins. Anyways, the receptionist there always talks about what I am going to have and teases me about maybe having 4 boys since I always have my 4 yr old and 2 1/2 yr old boys with me. When I told her I wasn't finding out a while ago, she said, "oh, when you have your anatomy scan I'm going to have to look in your chart and find out what you're having!" Obviously, I thought she was kidding. Well, today, I was there and checking out and scheduling my next apt, she starts laughing. I say, "What's so funny?" she replies, "remember what I told you I was going to do?", I reply, " you looked in my chart, you know what I'm having?!", she giggles and says, "yes, don't you hate when people know something you don't know?". I respond, " yes! I can't believe you know what I am having, I can't look at you!" and I leave. I was so upset, of course all I can think is that she was laughing because she found out I am having two more boys. I haven't stopped obsessing about it all day, her laugh just irked me. She was taunting me, and I will not be going back there, I can't deal with her comments and feel like I will be reading into it. I am so mad, it's none of her freaking business. She was being so selfish.
Do you think her laugh is because she found out it is two more boys? I can't help but think my dream of a girl is over. Thanks for listening...

Yes, I am irate. My dh tried to call but they were already closed. I am going to find another u/s facility too. I just cannot stop thinking about it. I am so hung up on reading into what it means. I know she could just as easily been laughing just b/c she says she knows, my mind is just stuck on it meaning the other.
And you're right, she may not even know. People suck sometimes. Ugh.
:HH: I am so sorry that you had a bad day Amari hon. You certainly didn't deserve that crap! :(
Just because people have power doesn't mean they should use it.. A receptionist should have NO right to even joke about looking at your personal chart.

Amari, that lady is a bitch!! Don't read into it, she sounds like one of those girls that like to gossip and she knows a secret you don't, thats all. I don't think it has anything to do with two boys or two girls or whatever the genders of your babies are. Screw her, and if I were you I would go right into the office or get in touch with her boss and let them know that we have privacy laws for a reason and if she continues working there then there is going to be a problem.

Ditto NBP. That's absolutely uncalled for and I would report the incident to her manager. She was totally out of line. What a jerk!!!!!!!!

definitely report it!! People like that get away with their unprofessional behavior because patients don't report it. They can't discipline or fire employees without specific examples.
Five-.whatever happened with your 24 hr urine and your pressures?

I agree! What a wretched woman! I would report her 100%. And there is no way that you should read into that. It means nothing about the gender of your babies only how tacky and unprofessional she is.
As for mt slew of tests~ everything was fine! BP was back to normal today and no traces of protien. Woohoo! So business as usual. I go for my glucose testing and u/s next then its every 2 weeks! That came up fast!

Definately let somebody there know about what she said. Make a big stink about it unless she may continue to do it to others. I would be very upset if it were me.

Ladies, you are the best! I talked to my OB office and my doc said if I want I could just come to him every two weeks instead of going to the specialist. He is comfortable measuring my cervix etc, plus I wouldn't have to go to two different offices. Yay! Don't have to see that woman again!

Weird question -.has anyone who was on the le diet been losing hair? In my other pregnancies my hair got thicker. Then like a lot of women, I lost all the extra hair at once, over a couple weeks, at about 6 months post partum. Apparently it is from the stress on your body being pregnant and then delivery, etc. I've noticed a lot of hair loss in the last week or two and I wonder if it is from the stress on my body of the le diet and losing all that weight. Strange.

I think you should report her Amari. That is against patient confidentiality!!! I work in a hospital and I cant even look at my own chart and or anyone else`s unless I am actually working with that patient for something specific. And I can`t discuss it with them! I really do think you should say something especially since you are not going back! I am sure that ob would want to know about one of their employees behaving like that, completely out of line!

Yes! My dh has unclogged our shower twice the last 5 months!!! I have long hair though, its amazing i have any left,my other pregnacies i also had shiny healthy hair that i lost more after..I just realized we were on the Le diet about the same amount of time too we are around 2 weeks difference with our BFP i think,so maybe thats why?

Mine does not seem as thick as in previous pregnancies either. I'm losing too, but not a huge amount. Not shiny at all!

Pstar,
How do you find the age gap between your two boys?
Hey pinkin I love it. They get on great. They have their moments when I have to be mammy and referee but they want to do everything together. Whenever we go anywhere or even turn on a TV show they like the same things, so it's very handy for me. This morning they were handing things to each other and saying oh thank you, can I have that please, oh thank you, it melted my heart. Its busy but they're great kids, very happy and only get really difficult if they're tired. I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Needagirl I don't seem to be losing hair but my friend did in her last pregnancy and I think she was told it can be related to a mineral or vitamin deficiency. This could definitely be related to diet. My friend is fine now, so maybe get checked and see if you need extra supplements.

I havent bought hardly anything! I need to get on it! I am sure there will be no baby showers this time which I dont expect. It is my 3rd baby. But of course, I need all new clothes and since it has been 5.5 years since I had a baby and everything was from DS1, I don't have anything and I am starting over! So I definitely have some buying to do! (either that or I could just keep her "swaddling clothes" - it will be almost Christmas after all.

Hey sweet sister, NOT the mongan one. It's ok but nothing like as thorough as Hypnobabies. Am on my phone but when I have the computer on next I'll post some links.
Funny that I was wondering about my hair the other day. I'm not losing it any faster but in previous pregnancies I've barely lost any at all, so this feels different.
Amari, that woman should be disciplined! I hope someone listened to your complaint. How dare she?!!

OMG...I'm soooooo bored! Has being pregnant always been so dull? I've got to control the urge to shop. The baby already has about 10 pairs of shoes, which he will probably never wear. But they're terribly cute.

Ack! I love baby shoes Yuzu! Post a pic please!!!
I know, this baby already has way too much to wear for the first 3 months of life. I have to really hold back now.
I think that its been more boring than my other pregnancies because we were focusing on swaying, timing, testing way too early (lol!) then counting the days until we could get a nub shot then counting the days until our gender scans....now that all of that is over we just sit and wait.
But I cannot wait to meet this baby! So fun to think about having a brand new, delicious smelling baby in our arms at Christmas time!!! :)

I lined up the shoes to take a pic. All of these except for one pair are brand new with tags. I have got to stop!
Sorry for the bad pic:
